Re: Preview: Despite Low Expectations, Pokémon Pokopia Had Me Grinning From Ear To Ear

@jsty3105 You're right, but It's absolutely vital for me and only takes 30 seconds to write a line of text relating to the performance or lack thereof.

Erratic framerates give me headaches and it's the first thing I need to know when deciding on whether to pick a game up or not

Assuming that most people don't care just because you don't is ableist (I'm not implying you are doing this, just pointing it out).

I expect NLife to go the extra mile and have come to rely on them regarding this stuff.

Some writers do mention it, and it's annoying that it isn't consistently adhered to.

Re: Suika Game Planet Now Available On US eShop For Switch 1 & 2

Why is the Switch 2 version more expensive though?

Getting fed up of developers trying to squeeze more out of Switch 2 owners.

I know it's not much in monetary terms, but it's the same game with a 22% price increase.

Also, why does a switch 2 version even need to exist?

Surely the Switch 1 can run this at 1080p 60fps? And if it doesn't, there's something very wrong.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Nintendo's Cheapest Switch 2 Edition Yet

@dskatter Movies aren't interactive and play out in a 2D environment, so motion is usually not an issue.

Also, refresh rates for 24p content are matched with a correct pull down ratio (or at least they will be on almost all TVs these days) so stutter on those is completely different to game stutter,. especially as it's evenly frame-paced.

Basically, a movie at 24 FPS played with the correct pull down is much smoother than a game at 24fps would appear in a 60hz container.

Re: Surprise! Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid Switch Demo Is Out Now

MisterStu

@Vivianeat It was an insta-buy for me until I played the demo.

Shocking performance and given it's almost time for release, there's no way it'll be any better in the full version.

I'm so disappointed. I can't play games with performance this woeful, because they give me headaches.

It's not even doing anything special, so correctly paced stable 30fps should be the absolute minimum here.

It was probably single digits in places and not acceptable.....cue all the people that don't care and say it's fine.....

Re: Review: Snufkin: Melody Of Moominvalley (Switch) - A Joyful, Dreamlike Adventure With An Edge

A few loading stutters? I genuinely don't think it managed to hit a consistent frame rate for more then a couple of seconds.

Without the kit to measure the performance, I'd estimate it hovers around 15-20 fps 99% of the time. Frame pacing was also off.

It really is a shame for a beautiful game like this to be marred with such poor performance. Some people won't notice or care, but for those that do, it's headache-inducing.
