In 2018, Idris Elba was crowned the Sexiest Man Alive by American celeb mag, People. The honour is bestowed only upon the handsomest of the handsomest men, which was pretty much anyone with a floppy boyband haircut in the '80s and '90s, George Clooney and Johnny Depp in the 2000s, and, notably, zero echidnas.

Poor, unsexy Knuckles, friend of Sonic, has never really been much of a sex symbol, although he probably has his fans. So, with award-winningly sexy Idris Elba being confirmed as The Voice Of Knuckles, are we all going to fancy him after watching the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog sequel? Will we all have to battle confusing feelings for an animated anthropomorphic cartoon?

Not if Idris Elba is to be believed, no. Elba told ScreenRant that he was trying to tone down his natural charm in his performance:

"Contractually, I cannot say anything. But I wouldn't say he was sexy. I don't think I'm going for that. That's for sure.”

The question now is: can Idris Elba actually turn off his inherent attractiveness? Are we all doomed to have a crush on Knuckles the Echidna? Only time will tell, when the Sonic sequel comes out in 2022 — which, by the way, is just two months away.
