oh yeah, i love the gamepad. best controller ever. particularly as an older gamer i love web browsing, youtube, gaming with my tv freed up for others or sport. developers got to grips with the DS and made great and profitable games, i dont see why that cant happen with the WiiU. maybe it hasnt yet because tv games are so much bigger projects than handhelds?
also the size and weight of the gamepad are perfect. i hear a lot of whingeing about the short battery life, sure that could be improved but really its not a problem for me as when ever i take a break i just chuck it into the charge cradle, even just 10-15 minutes every so often is good enough to extend the 5 hours nominal life. people make a meal out of the underpowered specs, but i cant think of too many games whose nature would make the wiiu version impossible, it generally comes down to graphical fidelity, and i prefer good controls and 60fps to detail
voice acting would hurt zelda i feel. i think that would break the whole you are the link in the story jazz they have going. aonuma has more planned for zelda than the wind waker map i reckon.
yeah i just saw it on play-asia and its only $30. japanese text only i'm assuming and i am not sure i can afford a japanese wii u anyway. despite my bitching i'll probably buy nobunaga anyway if it is released in pal. i put so many hours into l'empereur and uncharted waters in high school.
i think thats largely casual gaming on phones/tablets(profitability)
edit. i'm not sure ms has ever made a profit on xbox. its bundled in a division with its other hardware products including nokia and perhaps its android patents
i think the major third parties looked at the industry and said games are too expensive to make 3 discrete versions of our games, so i either you guys ninty, ms and sony, share a common architecture or we'll just leave you out of our plans. if i wanted the very best looking version of a game as my basic requirement i'd just upgrade my p.c more often. also i hate the idea of fb and twitch integration on my console.
after growing up with amstrad, commodore. x86 XT, amiga and sega systems i switched to nintendo when i saw mario kart on snes at a shop. i had previously found nintendos approach to gfx and gameplay odd and unappealing. after the snes though i became a nintendo fanatic, even buying a ds having never been interested in portables before. i got sick of gaming at about the end of the gamecube era. i saw the homogenisation of both hardware platform and software design as boring and ignoring what makes video games compelling, namely interactivity. nintendos focus on that basic foundation has kept me gaming solely on their platforms apart from strategy and tactical fps on pc. their questioning/reappraisal of what makes gaming gaming and boldly embracing new ideas is to me what gaming is about.
oh man. i dont see why i should be caring about the release of nobunagas ambition when there is version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms 12 on wii u. i wish nintendo would translate and publish that for the west even as an eshop title
the trouble is that there is a whole industry centered around being outraged. studies prove that it is the the nexus between litigation and climate change:)*
i just had a moment of my own, walked away for 5 minutes. no need to mention the post. common sense lost, presumed dead, relatives would still like to bury the corpse
It is the year 2031 Radioactive peaches have made Einherjar the scourge of Nintendo Life forums. it takes a random usr named Unrandomsam to defend the colony from existential crisis
compare nintendos approach to many other big companies. you wouldnt be able to buy mario kart you would pay per play, the disc would be a key and nothing else. always on internet etc. the value of mario kart 8 is staggering. quality of experience, single and multiplayer, the replayability, which just got a huge boost etc. the negativity here is laughable. dont want to have fun, dont buy it. some were even complaining about the mercedes cross promotion! a car company! what is it doing in mario kart? its not Kia or Seat or VW its merc who have a glorious racing pedigree. these people are also forgetting that Wario has been driving a cadillac for over ten years in this game series. I reckon nintendo have handled this perfectly
this is just too awesome. a f zero kart, amazing and painful wario track, not driving as but smashing into Villager, and a princess peach that looks like Princess Diana for bad taste re-enactments!
pretty hypocritical to bang on about apparently "skimpy" outfits and then take every opportunity to publish them, alleging falsely in my view that they are controversial. dont know anyone offended by a sports bra, particularly not women. anyone seen the ripping yarns episode where michael palins dad dressed in black head to to toe bangs on about lewd and lascivious behaviour when its not happening or even the topic?
"It is an evil book!" "No dear thats not the atlas!"
i was tempted to pick up the dsiware steam world game after playing dig, but i didnt as i hate tower defence games. so i will take a good look at whatever Image & Form deliver next. tower deviance is as appealing as a cross between hello kitty, tomodachi life and a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. TD is the essence of casual cured only by a dose of Fire Emblem or Advance Wars.
this game is utterly compelling, in part the controls which are perfect and the setting and dig dugish/mr driller mechanics of wanting to go deeper and deeper. very close to perfect in my book.
it seems that Mr Sakurai is intent on me buying this portable version also. it has so much love and attention baked into it. initially i wouldnt have considered it, i already have SF4
while objectively i think and would recommend galaxy 2 as THE greatest mario experience, 64 was a revolution and 3d World is pure mario platforming with perfect conrols, graphics and sound as well as 4 player gaming bliss at the expense of exploration and problem solving. but its Sunshine with its water dynamics and jet pack that steal my vote. And i cant believe anyone would think SM3 is better than New Super Mario and Luigi U.

this is a classic. its insanely difficult though. and i would say it has no slowdown, mostly because i have never seen the later levels:)
