@OorWullie I thought that too at first, but then I remembered that the bottom screen is looked at less. Also, hear me out, the bottom port is centered, though I guess you could just flip the switch lol.
I have mixed feelings, I don't think they are the worst idea. If they just installed the game on your device, turning them into a pure digital download that'd be bad. However, I think we should think of them more like a steam game, a moveable product ID that can be sold and traded. I think everyone that has a problem with them, should also have a problem with Steam. I wish all the data was on it, but it is better than just pure digital.
This looks like a terrible idea. Currently you can have games loaded on multiple consoles and can launch titles simply by having an internet connection on the secondary console. Now you have to move games over one at a time to access on a second console? Abosltely makes no sense to do it this way! Why go backwards on digital ownership?
UPDATE: On the official page of the game, they state that Joy-Cons will be required for "MOTION CONTROLLED GAMES". However, all other minigames will be supported by other controllers. So it seems like the game will function like Mario Party on the GameCube where just microphone games would be disabled if that controller wasn't being used. Seems like a good compromise. I am just glad that they will support the Pro Controller. My last fear is that we can only play the 20 player mode with the Joy-Con. At least local co-op will support Pro Controller.

As a digital enjoyer, I'll probably pick this up. My friends and family love the first one. I personally am interested in the mouse mode.

I just hope it isn't playable with JUST a joycon. That would kill it for myself, and my partner.
