Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

Kingchin

@MSaturn Nintendo has never sold any console/handheld at a loss! You are clutching at straws if you think Nintendo are going to take a significant loss on US Switch 2 hardware by just upping the online subscription and making the games more expensive lol.

Yous voted Trump as you're president (even though he was the laughing stock of the world and countries warned you's against voting him) so yous will have to live with the consequences!

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

@anoyonmus Trump has already confirmed the high Veitnam tariffs (even with Veitnam lowering their US tarrifs) will stay!

Lot's of Chinese firms were before these new tarrifs using Vietnam as a backdoor to import goods cheaper into the USA.

Trump is going all out against China. Will backfire as China can easily retaliate in many different ways. Plus the American citizens will soon enough backlash once most of the stuff sold in the USA becomes more expensive!

Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo's Thinking About Affordability With Switch 2 Pricing

Kingchin

@Banjo- Switch physical games are actually a lot more expensive to manufacture than PS5, Xbox Series X&S, PC games.

As blu ray discs are very cheap to manufacture. Whereas the MicroSD cards that Switch games are on are much more expensive to manufacture.

Nintendo have previously talked about how it's expensive to manufacture the physical games. MicroSD Express cards for the Switch 2 will be even more expensive to manufacture.

Re: Lexar Is Apparently Releasing A Switch 2 'microSD Express' Card

@PolitiClank I watched those Digital Foundry videos years ago. And PS4 games load much quicker on the PS5 SSD than they did on the PS4 HHD. But optimization patches made them load even quicker.

Im well aware of decompression. And that the Switch 2 is heavily rumoured to have a custom file decompression block to reduce loading times.

That's upto Nintendo whether transfered digital Switch games put onto a MicroSD Express card on the Switch 2 loads at the quicker MicroSD Express limit on the Switch 2. I personally don't imagine they will bottleneck it but we will have to wait and see.

@OldGamer999 "Would have been a lot better switch 2 reveal the other day if Nintendo would have done console specs and these potential new features etc, a proper console reveal.

Then in April focus on release date, price, preorders and options and of course the games.
Nintendo really have not been impressive with the way they did that reveal and switch 2."

  • Nintendo don't ever deep dive into technical specs like Sony and Microsoft. Most owners never even watched the long boring Cerny technical presentations of the PS5 & PS5 Pro. Their much shorter 3 minutes hardware reveals showing just the consoles no specs got much more views on YouTube etc...

The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer in the first 48 hours got more YouTube views than the Switch, PS5, PS5 Pro reveal trailers. The average console buyer isn't that knowledgeable about specs. They just want better looking and better playing games than the previous system.

Re: Lexar Is Apparently Releasing A Switch 2 'microSD Express' Card

Kingchin

@wiiware Switch 2 uses MicroSD Express cards for the Switch 2 physical games and Switch 2 digital downloaded games.

It's upto 9 times faster than the MicroSD cards used in the Switch for both physical and digital downloaded games.

It's not exactly hard to do a google search price comparison of MicroSD Express cards. Though I would stick to reputable brands like SanDisk etc and from reputable stores selling it.

Re: Lexar Is Apparently Releasing A Switch 2 'microSD Express' Card

Kingchin

@X68000 physical games on the Switch 2 will much quicker loading times than physical games on the Switch.

As MicroSD Express cards are 9 times faster than the MicroSD cards used for physical Switch games.

On the digital games storage side. MicroSD Express cards have a gigantic 128TB max capacity. Though it would cost tens of thousands if a storage card that size was actually available.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

@johnvboy Switch does have more casual owners than hardcore Nintendo owners who have owned Nintendo systems since childhood.

Not a bad thing as Nintendo are booming with Switch, theme parks, movies etc. In a very healthy financial situation.

It will enable Nintendo to continue to keep making excellent first party games exclusively on Nintendo systems for a long time to come....

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

Kingchin

@martynstuff You personally don't want Nintendo to release the Switch 2 in March or April 2025 for you're own situation. But that is selfish as millions of people would buy Switch 2 if it goes on sale in March or April!

I've just moved flat. Spent over £500 just on paint, ladder, brushes etc. And will need to spend thousands on Cooker, washing machine, flooring, sofa etc.

But I'm not vain selfish to wish Nintendo only release the Switch 2 when my financial situation is more stable.

Ps. Nintendo structure completely changed after the Switch. And times have changed from the reveal and release of consoles 6 + months later. Internet hype builds up extremely quickly, you don't need a long gap between reveal and release anymore. Ie if Nintendo reveals Switch 2 in January then a release in March or April is realistic.

@Serpenterror "When Nintendo revealed the Switch back in 2016, they didn't reveal any games for it either. The only games that kinda got reveal were the ones they used during the reveal trailer which they probably may do again for Switch 2." - You're contradicting yourself by saying Nintendo didn't reveal any Switch games & also saying they did reveal Switch games. Fact is on October 20th 2016 the very first Switch reveal trailer Nintendo showed both the Switch hardware and several Switch games. BOTW, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Odyssey, Skyrm, NBA 2K etc and others were all shown. The Switch 2 reveal trailer isn't going to just show Switch 2 hardware and no games lol. Nintendo never dives deep on technical hardware information. They are about the games gameplay.

1. I think at this point a next generation Switch that is more powerful is what everyone wanted, this is not going to be a confusing mess like the Wii U generation. The dumb casual audience during the Wii U era aren't even here anymore. - Agree there. Apart from Switch does have quite a lot of casual owners who also own a PlayStation/PC.

2. Those are fakes, not leaks. There's a difference. Leak means the legit product was seen or reveal without Nintendo's approval, it could be a sneak peek or just an accidental citing. Fakes are products others made up to predict what the legit ones may or may not look like. - C'mon bro don't be niave. We have seen what the Switch 2 looks like including the dock joycons.

3. The exclusives games will be announce when the launch date for the console is near, not when the console just got reveal. - Again Super Mario Odyssey got revealed in the original Switch trailer on 20th October 2016. It didn't get revealed just before the Switch went on sale to the public in 2017!

Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?

Kingchin

@Ryu_Niiyama Xbox has been getting slaughtered by Nintendo and PlayStation for many years.

because Nintendo and PlayStation are simply much more popular globally than Xbox brand!

Even if the PS5 was called something else it would still be whipping Xbox Series X&S in hardware sales!

Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?

Kingchin

@stuie1234 Those rumours were simply clickbait and people who were nostalgic for the DS & 3DS!

2 screens is a definite no for the Switch sucessor. The big 3rd party games aren't going to come with 2 screens.

2 screens means developers will struggle to port AAA 3rd party games to the Switch sucessor. So not going to happen!
