Freedom Wars is a game that could have really done with the 'Plus' treatment that most Monster Hunter type games get. The setting and gameplay was great, but it felt a bit too lacking in content and enemy variety. I always hoped to see more of it, but gave up on that years ago. It certainly is a surprise to hear it's coming back. Lots of people mentioning Soul Sacrifice Delta too, I notice. That I could never really get into. So many folk seemed to love it, but despite enjoying most games in the genre and giving it a more than fair try several times it just never struck a chord for me.
It wasn't a bad game, that I remember. Sitting out in the garden to play in the sun was fine too... except for the glare on the screen making it hard to actually see what you were doing, and I can only imagine how awkward it would have been to try and play it on an SP. I still have both the cartridge and my SP, now I think of it, so I may actually give it a try out of morbid curiousity.
Trails in Tokyo. I'm surprised to hear it wasn't already on the Switch. Not the best Falcom game, but it still is one and so pretty good. They rarely disappoint.
I didn't have much interest in the game, yet I grabbed it as something to pass a bit of time until Enshrouded on Wednesday. But it's surprisingly good. Despite catching creatures (which honestly I'm finding a lot cuter looking than most pokemon, even if many of them are clearly similar to this or that one), I'm seeing a lot more 'influence' from Ark and Breath of the Wild than Pokemon. "Pokemon with guns" really doesn't do it justice. Regardless of what you could say the developers have ripped off from this and that, the game itself is enjoyable. There are things that could be improved, but it's still early access, so plenty of time for that. The important part is that it's fun.
I enjoyed the first game...right up until the end, where it turned around and told me I had to grind up the levels of the four characters I had ended up not using. I think that soured me enough on it that my thoughts toward 2 were along the lines of 'Eh...there's other stuff I'd rather play right now'.
That takes me back a bit. I played the original on the Amiga, as a kid. I don't expect a new one to stand up too well to what was the golden age of point and click adventures, but I might give it a look for nostalgia's sake.
I replayed these on my Vita a couple months back, so I'm in no rush to play them again anytime soon, but it's great that they'll be available for more people who never got the chance to experience the series. I'd like to see a re-release of MGS4 instead, if anything. Seems like the only way to play that nowadays is PS3, after it got taken off of PS+.
I loved the original, so I don't mind the 2D characters, but I would have liked to see them go all the way and do proper 3D models since it is a remake.
@ComfyAko There are some things that carry over or unlock from completing the game in story mode in the Untold version (characters, weapons and the story specific classes, if I recall correctly), but you can just skip it and play classic mode instead if you prefer.
@ComfyAko Only the Untold remakes had specific main characters and even then only in the story mode. These are the originals. You can make your entire party whatever you like.
I finished the story at around 85 hours, with apparently 53% map completion. I imagine that is mostly scouring the more out of the way places for chests, caves and 15 or so hearts worth of shrines. I don't feel as inclined to do so as I did for Breath of the Wild though. Tears of the Kingdom certainly hasn't hooked me as much, and while I enjoyed it, it was starting to feel like a chore by the time I finished the main quests.
I rather enjoyed Inspector Gadget as a kid in the 80's/90's. I assumed he had been relegated to obscurity by now, so I'm a bit surprised to discover that's not the case...and that there's even a recent TV series. That said, while I hope for the best for the game, I've not much interest in it myself.
Tiny amount of footage aside, I could have sworn Atlus already mentioned they were working on a P3 remake back in January, when 3 and 4 were released on the Switch. Regardless, hopefully it takes the better parts from both P3P and FES. Both were lacking in areas the other managed.
I did not hate the game, but put off playing it almost straight away, due to hoping that at some point someone with some sense would add the button remapping it direly needs.
