@Poloscen89 I've waited up until past 1am both times celeste was around, with the volume up and the camera pointed at a clear sky. I assume if there were stars, they were after I went to sleep sometime. But I wasn't complaining, in fact my comment was about how I like the game being challenging and it's just a shame I haven't seen any yet, so why reply so harshly? I never said it was 'the game's fault', just that I personally hadn't seen any yet.
Thinking about it, who are these people who see a comment on the internet and think 'I could reply nicely like I would in real life... but this is the internet so I'll write it in a needlessly arsey way'?
I haven't seen a single star yet and I've been playing late every day since launch. Celeste has showed up twice and I've still never seen any, I guess I'm just unlucky. I think the star drop rate is probably fine though, these are supposed to be super rare items, that's what makes them special and I personally like it that way.
Ideally, more cards and amiibo would be released to cater to demand a bit more and make some more money for the AC beast. But obviously that's unlikely to happen under the circumstances.
@NEStalgia I don't disagree that many of them can't have finished the game, but even 13 hours in there are some obvious issues. Personally I think it's okay so far and I won't leave a review until I've gotten as much out of the game as I can, but I think disregarding all negative reviews is a bit harsh and one-sided.
There are also people giving 10s who obviously haven't played yet , but nobody ever suggests these people are review bombing.
I've found Sword a mixed bag so far. It's really beautiful and I love the music so much. But if Hop could just leave me alone for five minutes I'd enjoy it a heck of a lot more.
I'm glad Ring Fit is still in the chart though, I'm enjoying that so much more than I thought I would, I don't even notice I'm exercising!
Having just looked at those reviews, whereas there are some 0s who definitely haven't played the game, the majority of the negative reviews do seem to have played already and site things they liked and disliked about the game before giving it a poor score.
That said, we definitely need something to stop people who don't own a game from reviewing it.
My copy should arrive today though so I suppose I'll make my own mind up.
This article seems pretty fair and I'm excited to play my copy in a couple of days' time.
But I'm a bit confused by the end score? Having read the article it seemed like it was going to come out at a 6 or 7. And a lot of the negatives mentioned in the review didn't appear in the cons list (which with most reviews, I just skip to).
It's conspiracy territory, but if reviewers give a game a lower score, are they less likely to receive a review copy in future or something?
It's interesting how the first half a dozen comments on this article are people waiting to see drama. But I guess that's what the world is now.
It's fairly obvious the national dex had to go and personally I'm not going to miss it. But it was also obvious this would upset people. Having said that, as someone who has worked in the games industry for almost a decade, I don't see what they can do at this point.
I wasn't keen on Alcremie until it clicked that it's strawberries and cream, the most english of desserts (we literally eat that or eton mess at every barbeque). I hope it evolves from an Iced Gem.
I'm interested to see what Rolycoly evolves into...
As for Duraludon, it seems to be the pseudo-legendary for this region and it's one of the worst designs I've ever seen. (to me at least).
This would have been the perfect time to throw the fanbase a bone. They could have shown a new pokemon design, shown a new aspect of the game that couldn't have existed without removing the nat dex, they could even have hinted at some amazing new feature.
As much as I believe removing the national dex may be a good thing going forwards, the way this has been handled is beyond awful.
90% of this statement is fluff and the other 10% is 'we're doing it okay'.
The fanbase is in turmoil, the least they could do is give us examples of how the game will be improved by removing the nat dex. Give us specific examples, show us how your resources can be reallocated to other, better aspects of the game.
I want to want this game I really do, but so far I've seen lackluster designs, cheap gimmicks and a drop in visual quality from LGPE in trainer battles. SM was not just one of the worst pokemon games I've ever played, it was one of the worst games overall. At this rate this may be the first ever mainline game I don't buy.
Now I think about it, I'm fairly sure there was a line in Detective Pikachu where Pikachu suggested that people like to 'stick a finger in' him. That was pretty 'mature'.
@emperorbob I agree, seeing people defend everything is a bit much, and I do believe it's more about making money than making a good game. But I do think it's possible that allowing fewer pokemon per game will allow more time for development into other areas. It seems that arguing for every pokemon and a better game is like asking for two completely opposite things.
I suppose my point is that I don't mind losing the national dex at all, pokemon games which don't contain every pokemon have often been better and maybe the lack of pressure to include every mon contributes to that. So I'd like to see how it goes.
If anything I feel like Pokemon has become more child-friendly over the years. In RBY pokemon were dangerous monsters who could be tamed, now the games have dropped the 'it's dangerous in the long grass' theme and pokemon have become friendly doggos clamouring to be your friends. I miss the idea of living in a dangerous world full of cool monsters, it felt mysterious and perilous.
I agree completely with this article. There are a lot of issues with the mainline pokemon games right now and raging about the national dex is one way of making sure all those other problems never get solved.
With such a short turnover on pokemon games (which is a problem in itself), I'd prefer resources to go towards making a good game rather than a game that just has every pokemon.
There was actually a poll over on 4chan a few days ago where out of 170 votes, 70% of people said they'd prefer a good game without the national dex over a bad game with the national dex.
With such a quick turnaround on games (a problem in itself), I think if Game Freak can stop focussing on getting all 1000+ mons in they might have a better chance at producing a better product.
I feel like negative people are just being a lot louder about it. When the removal of the national dex was first mentioned I was pretty miffed, but after thinking it over for a bit I agree it has to go for so many reasons. I'm fairly sure if people just took a step back and thought about it for a moment they'd realise the same.
There are other problems with the mainline pokemon games that're much more pressing (in my opinion, the cheap gimmicks, lazy designs, postgame and the constant removal of the best features to name a few).

The crows sold me on this. From the thumbnail I thought they were enemies, but if I can play as a crow who throws bombs, I'm playing it!

Turns out it's in the opening scene as well.
They definitely could have fixed all these niggling issues with a little more time in development...

Re: Pokémon Rumble Rush Is Now Available On iOS Devices
I love the Pokemon Rumble series and I couldn't wait for this to come out on iOS... but I've played this for a few hours now and it's pretty terrible.
I'm so disappointed.
