I super hope they port it because I never got a chance to play it and it looks awesome and everyone has told me I would love it. I know the activity limits bum a lot of people out but I actually think it's a neat idea.

I feel like too many games are geared towards trying to make you figure out how to do everything and I find it refreshing when they're OK with, and designed around, you choosing to do certain things at the expense of others as opposed to just choosing what to do next on the list.

Grabbed Pikuniku and Wargroove but mostly just trying to wrap up other games so I can really start on Tales of Vesperia. I can't really multi-task with JRPGs, if I put them down for too long when I try to pick it back up I forget why I was so invested in the plot and then all the grindy aspects suddenly seem TOO grindy and I stop playing.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games Of 2018 In The US

Seems about right, there just weren't any big third party games to compete. The major third party releases this year were all in development before the Switch was even a thing so the only one putting out big production sixty dollar games on the platform was Nintendo.

I think 2018 really demonstrated the financial strength of the Switch and the success found by indie developers shows that there is money to be made from software sales that aren't Nintendo IPs. I think 2019 will be more of the same with ports of old games and indies doing very well for ports of old games and indie titles and some first party Nintendo games that are Nintendo games. But If think 2020 will be the year Switch starts seeing regular third party releases though I don't expect them to ever have regular AAA releases in parallel with Sony and Microsoft.

As someone who never played a 2d platformer prior to owning a Switch and playing Celeste I would say the game starts fairly easy and ramps up slowly from there until the last act which is pretty dang difficult.

It never really spikes in difficulty and it does this fantastic thing where when you die it immediately resets the screen with almost no wait time and it does not bring you back to the beginning of the level so you can fail thirty times in a row on a single jump in just a couple of minutes, until you get it right. About 80% into the game it started demanding a level of precision that I just don't have and I slowed it down to 70-80% speed, you can go as low as 50% I believe, and I was able to get through it with that boost. It has other assist options too so if there's a particular part that becomes more of a hassle than it's worth you can just make yourself invincible and hop through and then turn it back off. I had a few obstacles where I felt the issue was more the controller than my lack of skill but I have since figured out a way to comfortably hold the Switch. Anyway point being it gets pretty tough but it also gives you options if you don't want to spend the next month mastering the genre.

The only reason I have a switch is because it's such a perfect way to play indie games and I am loving all the old ports too. I had one game on the N64, two on the GC and two on the Wii. I'm sure you can guess which ones. I have 57 Switch games to date and only one is a first party game and I didn't even like it so it'll probably be the last.

I know Nintendo has a lot of die hard fans but there is a huge market out there of people who don't really vibe with the Nintendo kitsch that are buying the Switch and buying Switch games and that's great news for everyone, even if a bunch of them are indies.

@Yas
I get what you mean. I went a little buy crazy on Switch with all the sales recently and I have nine rows of games in my library and of those 54 at least 30 of those would be on the shelves at gamestop right now if I hadn't gone all digital starting last generation. I still prefer digital but I can definitely understand being stuck unable to sell unwanted games.

Trying to wrap up The Messenger so I can start Tales of Vesperia in earnest.

Planning on stopping by GameStop later today to get a Snes classic for Earthbound, Secret of Mana and FF VI, all of which I've never played. My first console was a Playstation that I bought myself about a week before the PS2 came out which worked out great since I basically had a seemingly unending supply of free games loaned to me by friends. Anyway I don't have any Nintendo nostalgia but I do like me some JRPGs and after learning to appreciate pixel art and the 8/16 bit aesthetic from all the great indie ports on the Switch I'm very much interested in playing the old greats while I wait for FF X and XII to arrive.

This is exactly the kind of game that I'll excitedly buy on day one, play for a few hours and then tell everyone I know how awesome it is while refusing to admit to myself that I'll never pick it up again.

Looks wonderful but I think it's going to be another great title that exists permanently at the end of my back log while I play simpler games.
