Re: Nielsen Games Report Finds More Interest In Nintendo Switch Than Xbox Scorpio Or PS4 Pro

Flammy

This entire thing needs to be taken with huge grains of salt. As has been pointed out, it all comes from online surveys done in Q1 2017, so mainly before the Switch was released. Even more damning, is that according to this report, only 77% of professed 'gamers' have even HEARD OF the PS4. Sorry, gonna call bullhonky there.

The problem with online surveys is that they're notoriously innacurate. The mere fact of being online prejudices them. If they're more likely to be taken by people on mobile devices or laptops, it prejudices them. Wherever the surveys link from prejudices them. I'm sorry, but over 77% of even just board gamers have at least HEARD OF the PS4.

Re: Feature: 30 Games We Might Get On The SNES Mini Classic Edition

@Torakaka Twice the bits, twice the games, makes sense.

Seriously, the (to Nintendo) unexpected success of the NES mini means that it's just a matter of time before they release one, but I agree with people that holiday 2018 makes more sense than trying to compete with the Switch this year. Plus, that way they could iron out manufacturing issues and actually have things in place to ramp up production if necessary. This is all assuming that Nintendo ever learns lessons from anything.

If they just popped Mother 3 on it, every single hardcore "I have 7 SNESs buried in my back yard, so I probably don't care anyway" out there would pre-order it tomorrow.

Re: Psyonix Is Evaluating Bringing Rocket League to the Switch

I agree with everyone that it should be a no brainer for Psyonix, this is a game that transcends console wars, and pretty much the universal response has been "Hell yeah I wanna be able to play this on the go!"

The biggest problem is that while it's built on Unreal, it uses Unreal 3 instead of Unreal 4 (which switch doesn't support), and while they could still port it, it's closer to being a full re-write than just swapping some variables and performance settings. All that it means is that their development cost would be much higher than people are assuming.

The other issue people are having is that it's designed to use analog triggers for controlling speed which the switch doesn't have. I think this is less of an issue, as there are plenty of ways to get around this either with motion controls or even something as simple as a double tap triggering slow, everything else fast. Psyonix is smart enough to find something that works.

A little tip for anyone trying to find sold out accessories: If you're in an Amazon Prime Now delivery area, they have a different set of stock than regular Amazon. I've been checking online for weeks looking for a Pro Controller for under $100 in the states with no luck, I just checked Prime Now on a whim and found one at regular price that'll be here in 2 hours.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Says Nintendo is 'Fact-Finding' on Joy-Con Connection and Screen Scratching Issues

@Hotfusion I'm not sure what issues people are having with their portable batteries, but I have one that outputs USB-C at 5V/3A and it works fine. If I play Zelda while charging it with that, it charges slowly, but still faster than the Switch drains.

As for the joycon disconnect issues, they are very real. I commonly have dropouts in docked mode, regardless of how close or how far I am from the console. I'm not sure, but it seems like it happens more often when the lady is also playing Wii U, so my next step is to try to find a way to get them set up as far away from each other as possible and see if that helps. But as of right now, I hardly ever play in docked mode, because the disconnects are frequent enough to sour me on the experience.
