that is 2 hours of this game i am not getting back. this game got a 6? it is so boring and so slow with the dullest tracks ever.

hate to break it to you, but Dimps made two of those mediocre games. I wouldn't trust them after their lazy as all hell Sonic Generations 3ds verison, and the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 games.

I will tell everyone that overal Batman wins, because i don't think there is a stand alone good Superman game past the SNEs era

Anyone here ever played Freedom Planet? Yeah, Sonic should learn from that game. That game was everything Sonic 4 wasn't.

It looks and feels like a mediocre PS2 action platformer. That framerate looks bad, the combat looks boring, and the platforming looks dull and uninteresting.

Give me Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank anyday over this anyday.

a few improvements aside, i still kind of felt like they didn't improve the problems i had with the original DK Land. i think a 6 would be a better score, but i can understand someone giving it a 7

This game really isn't that great to be honest. I'd give it a 6/10. I found the saving to be confusing and weird and the physics and hit-detection to be wonky at times. Plus, there is somewhat unfair moments of me getting hit by an enemy that was blended into the background. And personally, i think the pre-rendered graphics are kind of ugly on a gameboy.

Not really interested. I've been burned out by Party games on the Wii last gen. just gotten sick of all of them.

Another Lemmings Mario vs. Donkey Kong? I wish they just returned to the template of DK 94 or something. Never liked lemmings. the first one Mario vs. Donkey Kong is still the best one.

Hopefully, this has the same amount of tools as say Little Big Planet or better. I love Little Big Planet due to the creative community levels.

@retro_player_22 I liked Mickey Speedway USA and the first Lego Racer, plus Donkey Kong Racing didn't even have gameplay videos, so how would you know if it was good

You know, i actually just played some a source game called SuperTuxKart. It is actually pretty decent kart racer for an open source game.

Crash Team Racing is such a great kart racer and it aged much better than Mario Kart 64 IMHO. Mario Kart 64 to me is the weakest of the Mario kart games. Any decent clone of mario kart could easily be on par or beat it. Also may i mention Mickey Mouse Speedway USA? Fun game

oh and Mod Nation Racers was a decent game, though it was somewhat limited in track variety. Nice of this article to mention Blur. It is a shame that it was underlooked. Perhaps it would have done better if it didn't have the uncessary swipe at Mario Kart in it's commericals and just advertise it like some action car racing game with power ups.

@Action51 there was also no multiplayer, which breaks the deal to me

@MeloMan honestly, final fight isn't really that good well at least the Snes verison of the first game Streets of rage however, that was awesome as was Comix Zone

really my problem reviewers nowadays it that they prop that 5 like it was a 10. just like the garbage story in Grand Theft Auto 4.

It is like a car. They say on a postive that the car has excellent fuel mileage, yet it only get 20 miles per gallon.

Also they will say that the game is 9 9 9 9 9, when there are huge flaws in the game when it just comes to 0 9 5 5 7 0 whatever. Battlefield 4. a game that has massive glitches and where many people had trouble with the online stuff, yet it gets 8s consistantly espically on the PS4.

really i don't really care about Battle mode all that much. never cared about battle mode since i play racing games to race, not go around some arena trying to pop ballons the gamepad thing is dissapointing, but not much. Really, the strength is the courses, which are pretty good. I can't think of any Mario Kart game that has courses this consistantly good. Even the retro courses are better than the originals.

Anyway like i said, i don't care about Metacritic and the scores for the reasons i said. Brawl doesn't compared to Melee in anything other than content or music. SF4 is not as fun as the Marvel series. yet both Brawl and SF4 are higher on the games

Honestly, this looks like the best Mario Kart game since Mario Kart 7, which was a great game after the dissapointment called Mario Kart Wii.

also for another example of scores being meaningless is Grand Theft Auto 4. highly rated by Metacritic, but there haven't been any people i know who say it is better than the previous games sans the 2d top down ones. And no one thinks the story is that good or even oscar worthy

to be honestly fair if you want to use Metacritic, MK 8 is scoring 3rd place among the MK games. only beaten by Super Circuit why is it scoring better than MK DS? that game was so much better and Mario Kart DS.

anyway, i'm a believer that scores on a game are silly and i think they should be taken behind an alley and shoot. I rather people reviewing the game just review the game without the arbiturary score. Also i don't think scores should matter.

For example: I think SF4 and Brawl are overrated games while i love Marvel vs. Capcom, Tatsunoko, and Melee more. however, SF4 and Brawl has a better score than Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tatsunoko, and Melee.

Ah it really isn't that big of a deal. Besides, Mortal Kombat 9 seems to be far superior to all the rest of the Mortal Kombat games put together.

Interessting. now i got to see the movie when it comes on netflix. I like Angelina Jolie, but i'm wary of movies like this after the likes of Oz and Alice.

@Jetson Definitely this one. Even if the sound isn't up to snuff with the SNES version, it is still a great game.

Ah love this game alot. i think i'll go replay it for old times. Such a shame that Artoon can't make a sequel that can even match the game nor is above mediocre.

Seriously i think Tomb Raider is the only decent Video game movie and that is only because of Angelina Jolie. Street Fighter doesn't count because that one is so bad it's good
