Re: Video: Fans Are Getting Bent Out Of Shape By The New Pokémon Sun And Moon Anime

Crushermach3

@Freelance FYI, they've been making plenty of Digimon too. They just keep reinventing the universe so no one is as invested or cares as much, which if you think about it is kind of what people have been saying Pokémon should do. Guess it's kind of a double-edged sword. See here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Digimon_episodes_and_movies
Of course everyone likes and remembers Adventure 01 and 02. Tamers was my personal favorite. Frontier wasn't too bad once I got used to it. I flat out refused to watch Savers/Data Squad (the VAs were phoning it in, the art style was awful, and I can't even remember what kind of story or gimmick there was), which is when it completely dropped off the map for me so I completely missed Xros Wars/Fusion. The biggest splash Digimon has made in the past decade is Adventure Tri., a continuation of the original story line/universe, so I wouldn't be so quick to hit the reboot button.

Re: Feature: Exploring the Licensed Content in RCMADIAX Games on the Wii U and New 3DS eShop

@Damo
"This isn't his work, it's games lifted from another source."
That he paid for and has no obligation to share. That's what that 'published under license' bit is for. I could say the same thing about some of you articles, "This isn't your statement, it's a statement from another source", the only difference being you have to put your sources for credibility.

"How do you know how much effort I personally put into researching the Nvidia / NX story?"
idk. How do you know how much effort @RCMADIAX put into porting those games?

"By his own admission he didn't want this "shouting from the rooftops" which indicates that he didn't want it to be common knowledge. Take from that what you will."
What I take from this is that you do not take a crap, walk out of the bathroom, and announce that you took a crap, or in this case have somebody else tell everybody you took a crap, because that would be embarrassing for both parties. Really, I agree with @rjejr on this point. If I may extend the metaphor a bit further: Imagine you are a caretaker at a preschool. You don't take a kid who just made a mess in his pants, put him in front of everyone and tell them he just pooped. The correct thing to do is read them all a little book called Everybody Poops. A broader article on the subject that maybe cited him would've been fine, but calling him out like this is just disgraceful.

This will be my first and last comment on this article, which, by the way, I only clicked on because I knew the dev liked to comment on his own games. Needless to say; I won't ever be clicking on anything with RCMADIAX in the title ever again. Oh, I know what you're thinking. "Oo, one reader on a certain type of article. Such a threat. /sarcasm", but I've made up my mind. You're not getting those pennies outta me.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)

@BulbasaurusRex
All right look, I wasn't there for Hunters' release and I've never played it, but I can at least speak to why Pinball works:

Pinball is a game all its own and it's been around for much longer than Metroid has. People understand pinball. You can dress it up in any way you like; it's still a game about flipping paddles to keep balls from rolling down a slanted surface. That's what Metroid Prime Pinball is. Just another skin for a pinball game.

TL;DR It's because it's a pinball game, not a Metroid Prime game.

"Face it, the name doesn't apply to just that one trilogy of games. People aren't going to associate it with just that one trilogy when it only consists of half of the now six total "Metroid Prime" games."

Really? Because that's the first thing I associate it with and I'm people. At least I think I am... Do people have fingers and mouths and stuff?

@GameOtaku "Problem is they tack on Metroid Prime in the title but is not! If they named it Federation Force: Metroid Heroes it probably would not have garnered as much hate!"

THIS! SO MANY TIMES OVER! ^THIS!^
I'd've gone with just "Metroid: Federation Force", but that's just me.

@BulbasaurusRex
""Metroid Prime" refers first and foremost to a story element, not a gameplay style. It continues the story beyond "Metroid Prime 3," so in that regard it has just as much a right to the name as any of the others. Now if you want to complain that it shouldn't be called "Metroid Prime" because the actual Metroid Prime the sub-series is named for is already dead by the events of this game, then you have a point..."

The main problem I have with tacking on "Prime" is that they already used that moniker on a very successful trilogy that people seem to remember quite fondly and have been waiting for a successor to for a long time. You can't just just tack something like that on willy-nilly. People are going to associate it with that series of games, whether consciously or not, and have undue expectations for it.

Naming it "Metroid Prime" when it looks absolutely nothing like those three games was a massive mistake I'm surprised nobody caught. You don't have to have the naming scheme to be set in the same universe. People aren't even going to call this by its full title anyway, at least not casually. It's always going to be "Federation Force" so why hold yourself up to the standard of "Prime" in the first place? It just seems so stupid!

Re: With Splatfests Finished, Judd Is Now Your Source of Super Sea Snails in Splatoon

Crushermach3

I love Splatoon, really I do, but I don't play it that much. The main thing that kept dragging me back into it were the Splatfests. I liked the short-term goal of winning enough to get to king/queen status. Now without any clear goals aside from the massive undertaking that is level 50 or S+ rank I don't really feel that motivated to keep playing. I might come back to it once in a while, but let me know if this tells you anything: I still haven't gone in to collect my snails from The Last Splatfest.

Re: Talking Point: SEGA Has the Right Idea With Its Upcoming Sonic Projects

Crushermach3

From what I can tell Generations was fairly well-received as was Colors. Color me cautiously optimistic.

Sonic Mania, however, has the hype train barreling down the track at full bore. With classic gameplay, still classic but somewhat smoothed out visuals (from what I can tell the sprites have a higher pixel count, and more inbetweens), and that new drop-dash mechanic that compliments such a game so perfectly I'm surprised nobody thought of it sooner it just looks amazing. Count me in.

Re: Guide: How To Use Niantic's Ingress App To Discover Rare Pokémon In Pokémon GO

Crushermach3

"don't walk around with Ingress open, as you'll collect the XM and won't be able to see it until it respawns"

This particular piece of info, while correct, is somewhat misleading. You only pick up XM until your scanner is full (as indicated by the blue bar on top in the left image) and you won't pick up any more until you use it, making it perfectly okay to keep Ingress open so you can look around. It doesn't take a lot to fill either. Notice the circular clump of XM around the portal? It's like that on every one and I'd estimate it taking around three portals worth of XM to fill completely.

edit: Better yet, if you hack the portal you can get materials which you can then recycle into XM, or better yet power cubes which have the exclusive purpose of filling your scanner.
