I'm pretty excited to see what this all means. It shouldn't be much longer until we here from Nintendo. I expect it will be before the end of September. I don't get why people are angry with Nintendo about the hype. That's not their fault. When they said it wasn't getting announced at e3 this year, I expected September at best. No offense to news sites, but they are the ones that are over hyping the system before they actually know any real details. I'm expecting something unique and fun from Nintendo as usual. Other than lack of later support for the Wii U, I've been happy with every other system and don't expect NX to be any different.
I am a huge fan of Metroid. I have posted all of them and enjoyed every one, except the team ninja one. I didn't much care for that. What I have seen of Federation Force looks fun to play. I'm not a fan of games that rely on multiple players, so I hope that there is a way to play single player and still get full enjoyment out of the game. Being an adult in a small town doesn't really work for having friends that enjoy playing video games and even less that have the time.
@ThanosReXXX I didn't know about it until a few days ago when it made all the news sites. There's a good possibility that Nintendo didn't either. There are so many of these types of things out there that Nintendo can't possibly keep track of them all. They probably just watch the big news sites and then shut down copyright infringements. We always tend to see the Nintendo shut down such and such article a few days after the big announcements. Seems logical to me that Nintendo would take that route rather than wasting resources scouring the internet for pirates.
I don't understand why people think they can just pass around whatever they want on the internet. You can't use intellectual property of someone else. Everyone knows that but they get all surprised and hurt when a company puts an end to it. Nintendo is in the right here 100%. Being mad because Nintendo didn't release game you wanted doesn't make it right to steal their intellectual property or defend someone who does.
@PieNinja I am expecting under $300 for a mobile home console. I think it's in Nintendo's best interest to make NX very affordable to reach a much larger install base. If the rumors of it being a handheld device that has capabilities in between Wii U and Xbox 1a lower price point is the right way to go and should not be hard to do. Of course, all the rumors could be completely wrong and NX could be something that hasn't even be thought of by the rumor mill. Ha-ha
@PieNinja I have a feeling that once the NX is released, Nintendo will drop the price of the Wii U and give a lot of its games select pricing. Then people who passed it by will get it and realize what a great library of games they missed. If the NX has the same quality of library its early days then those people will give the NX a try too. It would be a great strategy to give the NX an early boost. A low price point for the NX will also get it out to more casuals and family gamers.
People are aware that you can transfer your vc games from Wii to Wii U right? The only time you have to pay anything is if you want to upgrade them to the new version and play them on the gamepad. You don't have to buy them again. As far as the NX is concerned, I'm not going to make a purchasing decision simply based on rumors. Chances are pretty good I'll get one, but I will decide that when I see official information from Nintendo. I'm not sure about the handheld/home console combination, but the ability to play games such as Breath of the Wild on the go are intriguing. I'm an anxious to hear what Nintendo had up their sleeve, but I'm not upset that they've waited so long. I think it's better to get information closer to release because if it's good, then there isn't such a long time to wait and the initial excitement doesn't wear off by the time the product releases. I'm very curious to see what this actually is.
2 main things killed the Wii U from the beginning. 1. The name. As many have said, it was confusing to the casual player. People thought it was a Wii upgrade. 2. The gamepad. As much as I like the gamepad for some games, it's not necessary on most. It could have been dropped from the system entirely which would have dropped the price dramatically and barely changed the functionality. Imagine if Nintendo had come out with Nintendo HD which could play all your old Wii games and be compatible with the Wii controllers and accessories. It would also be packaged with 2 pro controllers. 64 gb upgradeable storage for $200. That would have been a huge seller, especially if marketed correctly. Third parties would have been more likely to develop for it without having to deal with the gamepad. Plus it would certainly have had a larger install base. It still wouldn't have been as powerful, but almost all of the games that were great for the Wii U would have been available for it. After the huge success of that, Nintendo's next console could have continued with the trend, but this time use the profits to top the power of their competitors. And we'd probably be playing Breath of the Wild already.
It gives me hope that a big name 3rd party has something good to day about the NX. All we really know so far has been rumors and speculation. It's nice to hear positive things from someone outside of Nintendo that knows what the system is.
I have most of the games on this already, so I won't be getting one. It's neat idea though. If it had the original Contra I'd definitely buy one. Why does Nintendo release Super C now but not Contra? I loved that game. Even beat it without the 30 lives.
I don't think I'll miss having the map on the gamepad. I usually end up pausing the game to look at it anyway. The touch controls I will miss. It's so nice to be able to select something by tapping on the screen rather than have to scroll through a menu. It's certainly not a deal breaker for me though. I won't be upset if there's not map feature in Breath of the Wild. If that's the worst thing about the game then it should be great.
I'm thinking it will be about some kind of ancient or alien rune stones/artifacts that have been disturbed in some way and must be brought back together. Perhaps it will be something along the lines of the triforce from Zelda, but with Tetris pieces.
I expect the NX will be powerful enough. I believe we're reaching a point where more powerful machines won't do much to change the gaming experience. For example, 4K support. From what I have read, the human eye isn't able to detect the difference between HD and 4K unless the screen size is bigger than 60 inches(that size varies depending on how far away you sit). Also, the more powerful the consoles get, the longer it takes to make software. This will lead to large gaps in game releases which is already becoming an issue. Games are so huge now they get delayed often or release with bugs because they aren't tested fully. If a system is reasonably powerful, developers will be able to make great games in a timely manner. I'm not sure how far away the power spec plateau is, but it's coming soon for sure. I think Nintendo ID aware of that.
@the101 I played a few that I thought were OK, but none of them were really what I had hoped for. Glad to know that others have enjoyed them more. Maybe I'm just too picky. Ha-ha
@Popplio Actually no, I haven't played that one. I've missed a few of the Sonic games here and there because I either didn't know about them or was tired of being disappointed. I like Sonic and I would really like Sega to put out a must have title.
@SamirMalik I feel like it's been that way since they started making 3d titles. Mostly when the game speeds up. They just feel to me like I'm watching more than controlling.
Having a non intrusive story is a good thing I think. I am not a fan of sitting through cut scenes when I'm playing video games. I would rather just play. If I want to watch something, I'll put in a movie. Video games are made for interaction.
Sonic would be best served if Sega ditched 3d. They should take the New Super Mario route and make a side scroller with updated technological features and visuals. That way Sonic's speed can be utilized without the feeling that the character is out of control. If Sega does that right, they have a winner on their hands.
That's the real drawback of online games. They have a shelf life. Like Star Wars Battlefront. There's no single player so when the servers go down the game is useless. This is one of the positives of Nintendo still focusing largely on couch multiplayer.
NX may be the first Nintendo console I don't buy right away. I'll keep my eye on it while I'm keeping busy with the early 2017 games I'm looking forward to playing. Ghost Recon on Xbox One and Zelda for Wii U. That is unless there ends up being solid third party support and Nintendo has something amazing up their sleeve for NX.

@PieNinja Agreed. That's why I won't get an NX on day one. Unless the price is really great off the bat.
