Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode — a 3DS update of the PSP title Digimon World Re:Digitize — launched in Japan earlier this year. Since then, there have been calls from western fans of the series to localise the game for North America and Europe, but thus far Namco Bandai has remained tight-lipped on the situation.
However, it would appear that the company is at least prepared to acknowledge the notable demand for the game in this part of the world. A tweet from the Operation Decode account to Namco Bandai UK PR executive Joseph Walsh received the following reply:

Indeed, the fact that the petition for a western localisation has reached 16,300 signatures is pretty impressive — but is it enough to justify all the work required in translating and adapting the game for the western market? Text-heavy titles require a lot of cash to adapt, and at this stage we'd imagine that 16,000 sales wouldn't even come close to covering that.
Still, it proves that these petitions can have an impact, so if you're keen to get your hands on this Pokémon rival, make sure you give the campaign your support.

Those digi-destines look remarkably like some devil survivor characters! Hope this makes it to the west
It's a start, at least. If Bravely Default sells well, perhaps it will serve as a signal for these companies to risk bringing over other Japanese-only titles like this.
That would be sweet! It's on my list of imports, so if I can avoid doing that, that would be great.
@Xlll They look the same because there by the same artist Suzuhito Yasuda.
I'd love for this game to come to the west but even if it somehow does it might be digital only.
I would SO buy it!
But please, Pokemon rival?
They are not only different in gameplay, both franchises are enourmously different, the only thing in common they have is that there are humans which train Monsters.
You get this way more often than Pokemon, look at Monster Farm/Monster Rancher, Jade Cocoon etc.
Two things:
1. Are these people capable of having a campaign that doesn't have a name that starts with Operation?
2. Why has this site still not acknowledged that Namco Bandai is bringing One Piece: Romance Dawn to both US and Europe?
One of these signatures is mine!!! Bring it west!!!!
Really really hope that campaign will succeed, that game would be a must buy for me ^O^
It's not just a Digimon game... it looks like a good one and full of reference to what the serie originally was! Both the child and adult in me can't wait to hear a release date for Europe even if they both know how hardly it will happen >.>;
hope it succeeds!
We need the Digimon Adventure PSP game as well. IMO that should have been made for 3DS initially.
I'll be honest. I've never played a Digimon game before, but as a kid, I was glued to the screen for the anime series. As I only owned a Game Boy, I played Pokémon like everyone, but was always jealous of my classmates with a Playstation because that's where the Digimon games were. If only they were also made for Nintendo 64 too. Digimon on Game Boy Colour would be a perfect fit, perhaps they didn't want to take their chances against the behemoth that was Pokémon. Again, the other side of the coin was that my Playstation-owning classmates who did not have a Game Boy, were probably jealous of Pokémon too.
I WANT IT!!!!!!! I'm sure they could definitely find volunteers and accommodate their living expenses.
@TwilightV No. These people saw that Operation Rainfall was successful and honestly believe that taking the name and making a petition on change.org is going to get games localized in the West. They conveniently forget that Operation Rainfall's success was based on cold, hard cash. They took donations, opened pre-orders on Amazon, shipped game kits to publishers, etc. There was a lot of money and campaigning behind Rainfall.
Internet petitions sure have gotten popular in the last few years though. The same group of people probably also think that they're helping to cure cancer by liking a post on Facebook. It makes you feel useful and requires zero effort. Two of people's favorite things combined into one.
I have been yearning for this game..!! Even eShop only works, as long as I can play it. Love the artwork and it looks packed with content and in interesting story. If Namco Bandai is actually paying attention to fans, we should speak up and show support!
Pokemon rival? Don't make me laugh... sure they both involve monsters evolving (or digivolving) but there are sooo many barriers that seperate the two series that you can hardly call them rivals.
Still I would pick this game up day 1
Digimon is loads better than Pokémon. They're nothing remotely alike other than having monsters so they're not 'rivals.' Nintendo didn't seem to mind when Digimon appeared on the DS too if they were in fact rivals.
I'll buy this of course if it comes here.
There are a group of fans patching and translating the PSP version, they are 70 percent done. They are doing it for free with a team of about 6-9 coders and translators. Bandai Namco has no excuse.
I LOVED! the one for the playstation, Digimon World.. I poured so much time into that game it's ridiculous. When I saw Re:Digitize and how similar it was, I was ecstatic. I really hope they bring this to NA on 3DS.. it's a must have in my book.
I don't know how Digimon Fusion is faring here in terms of popularity, but seriously think about 16000 fans + who knows how many kids watching Fusion might want this game. Roll the game out with the incoming Fusion toys. Do it Namdai!!
I love Digimon! I really hope I get to play this.
I don't follow Digimon on any regular basis, but I don't remember the series having as much 'fan service' as I saw in the trailer. Am I missing something?
Bring this to NA!
As a long-time fan of Digimon (always liked it more than Pokemon) and signer of the petition, please bring this to NA! I've sadly never played a game based on the franchise, but have enjoyed watching the anime immensely.
"Digimon are the champions!"
No way something like this should cost anywhere near $640,000 to localise. (40 * 16000).
How about you bring something to the US/EU other than a game on a Sony system, Namco Bandai?
@unrandomsam Yes it could, Tomato localized Mother 3 with no budget at all (sure, it took him a while, but still)
Yes freakin' please!!!!
This game just looks great. Pokemon X/Y are amazing, but it only makes me want more mon, mon.
Looks interesting, I did used to love the cartoon when I was younger.
YUS!
I thought I signed that Petition ages ago. Anyways, signed it (poss. again). I definitely want another good Digimon game, and now that Digimon is back on a U.S. Network, I'd think it would be a good idea to release one sooner than later.
I signed that. Do it.
While its true that the two franchises aren't quite as similar as many people think, back in the day they were definitely considered rivals. Back then Digimon was pretty much Pokemon's own Sonic, it was made to be 'cool' just the same.
Honestly... I don't know the first thing about Digimon other than it's a Pokemon-like and was ~that~ show I didn't watch growing up lol. But I'm gonna sign this petition. Why? Because more games is always a good thing, especially when it seems like it'll be a struggle for it to emigrate outside Japan.
Wait digimon is still a thing?
seems interesting but not sure about it yet but if they bring it to the US its all good
wait to hear more though
Nice. Too bad the petition for a wii u version of kingdom hearts 3 isn't as popular.
http://www.change.org/petitions/square-enix-please-bring-kingdom-hearts-3-to-the-wii-u-alongside-the-ps4-and-xbox-one
I have been a loyal fan of Digimon since it first aired here, in Spain. I loved this series, merchandising, toys and plushies and videogames like if there was nothing better. I have also been checking my local videogame stores looking for any new Digimon videogame for ages, but it has been so long since last game arrived my region. They were coming to Europe since to long... I have been years waiting for anything of my all-time favourite anime and it has just been in vain. I just bought my 3DS when I knew about the very first news about this videogame.
Now, if they take this petition seriously and they realise how many fans already love their creation, I beg they also take this game to Europe.
Gosh this needs to be localized. Badly! This game looks AMAZING. I'd go out and buy it, no question. Always loved Digimon, it's about time they got a new Digimon game rolling through NA.
I grew up watching Digimon EVERY DAY, (tho I eventually lost tv privilages for a long time) I eventually got so caught up I watched every single epsiode from season 1 all the way to the Xros wars season (haven't watched all of xros wars however, I really need to I miss watching Lilithmon getting all mad and bent out of shape hehe) The day I see this game in stores in Alaska, I am going to buy it even if I have to fight over it xD Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode is on the top of my list of must buy games! How can a hardcore digimon lover be proud of his digimon knowledge, if they don't get to play and enjoy every single one of the games to get the entire story for each game and figure out how they relate to each season of digimon and how they're different too xD My brain is boiling over with anticipation for this game!
