Zelda Skyward Sword HD Moonlight Merchant

The Moonlight Merchant is a special late-game merchant in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD who deals in rare treasures and can be an invaluable source of materials if you're struggling to find various bits and pieces with which to upgrade Link's items in the game.

A particularly secretive Gossip Stone, this guy can be a little bit tricky to track down if you're not sure how or where to start looking, so let's take a look at exactly how to find him and what he's got for sale.

Zelda: Skyward Sword Moonlight Merchant Guide

Moonlight Merchant Location

In order to find the Moonlight Merchant you'll need to make your way to the Waterfall Cave in Skyloft — that's the cave that you traversed at the start of the game in order to free your Loftwing. However, this elusive merchant can only be found in the cave at night and you'll also need to have cleared a few different parts of the game in order for him to show up.

To be exact, you'll need to have passed Skyloft's Silent Realm trial and then made sure that you've completed all parts of the Song of the Hero quest — revealing the game's final dungeon — in order to make use of this merchant. There is some ongoing debate online as to whether or not you also need to have delivered all 80 Gratitude Crystals to Batreaux but we can 100% confirm this is not the case.

Once you've completed all of these bits and pieces, head over to the Waterfall Cave at night and have a look around in the area of the cave that has stalactites and stalagmites growing from its ceiling and floor. You should see three Blessed Butterflies flapping around here. Pull out your harp, give it a quick strum and the Moonlight Merchant will appear!
