GRIS (Switch eShop)
$2.99 (-82%)
We’re very careful when we use this word, but Gris is a masterpiece. Its jaw-dropping visual style and heart-wrenching score combine for one of the most emotional pieces of interactive art you’ll ever play.
It may be too short for some, its puzzles may be on the simple side and the lack of any real challenge may not be to everyone’s taste, but this is a game focused more on fragility than ability and as long as you’re willing to go along for the ride, it’s one that will stick with you for a very long time indeed.

Into the Restless Ruins (Switch eShop)
$11.24 (-25%)
Into the Restless Ruins took us totally by surprise. This is a belting addition to the Switch's lineup of roguelikes that manages to make itself fresh and unique in a category full of bland copycats.
The melding of deckbuilding, combat, memory challenges, and construction of dungeons makes for a game that draws you right in every time, robbing you of hours as you work your way through its delightful catacombs.
A little more narrative oomph may have taken it even further, but you're still looking at a bit of a must-play here.
Invisible, Inc. Nintendo Switch Edition (Switch eShop)
$4.99 (-75%)
Invisible, Inc. is a brilliant little tactics game, right up there with Into the Breach and XCOM – if not even better. The bite-sized structure belies a deceptively complex and meaningful game, where all your decisions ultimately mean something significant for that final desperate attack.
If you enjoy stealth or tactics games – or you're simply looking for a way into either genre – then Invisible, Inc. deserves your attention.
Katamari Damacy REROLL (Switch eShop)
$7.49 (-75%)
In a cynical era where nostalgia is pumped for all its worth with endless soulless remasters, Katamari Damacy Reroll serves up an engaging and rewarding game that hasn’t let any of its original charm or personality be lost in the transition from one platform to another.
With support for gyro controls and multiplayer — not to mention a degree of performance that sees it run smoothly in both handheld and docked mode — this Switch edition is easily the best way to play it outside of blowing the dust off your old PS2.
Katana ZERO (Switch eShop)
$8.99 (-40%)
Katana Zero is unmistakably a game that you need to add to your Switch collection. The tough, hair-raising action sequences, gripping narrative, and impeccable sense of style elevate Katana Zero high above many of its peers, cementing it as a modern classic that sets new standards for what a side-scrolling action game can be.
This is the kind of game that you’ll blindly play through once and soon find yourself wishing you could have that first-time experience again; there’s nothing else quite like it on the eShop and we can’t recommend it enough.
Mark of the Ninja: Remastered (Switch eShop)
$4.99 (-75%)
Mark of the Ninja: Remastered is an utterly stellar stealth game and it’s lost none of the magic that made the original such a critical darling. Strong art direction, an engaging story, well-paced open gameplay, and a slew of extra content all combine to make for a near-flawless experience that you certainly won’t want to miss out on.
We’d give this game a high recommendation to all Switch owners; it’s the best stealth game money can buy in the Switch library, and one of the best ones in any console library.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection (Switch)
$29.99 (-50%)
It's clear that a lot of effort and love went into Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection; this is a worthwhile re-release (available across two separate volumes on the Switch eShop, if you prefer) that gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
While everyone will have their favourite, the Mega Man Battle Network series remained remarkably consistent throughout its whole run, due in no small part to the innovative battle system and charming storylines present in each entry.
If you’re a fan of Mega Man and haven’t given these games a shot yet, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up immediately. Even if you’re not a Rockman enthusiast, these games each offer up some inventive RPG experiences that are certainly worth your time.
Neva (Switch eShop)
$13.99 (-30%)
Neva is a spectacular example of art in motion, delivering a thoroughly engrossing platforming experience that’ll stick in your mind long after you’ve rolled credits. The incredible visuals, moving soundtrack, satisfying gameplay, and surprisingly touching story all come together to make for a game that shouldn’t miss.
A few frame drops aside, if you’re looking for a new addition to your library that’ll give you something to savour rather than just consume, look no further than Neva.
Night In The Woods (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-50%)
Less of a game, and more of an interactive story with some light platforming and exploring to tie it all together, Night In The Woods is one of the most rewarding experiences you can play on Switch.
An indie curio better played for yourself than described by us, it will no doubt leave an impression with its enchanting soundtrack, disarming story, and instantly identifiable character arcs. Strange and wonderful in equal measure.
It should be noted that the controversy surrounding its troubled co-designer, including historical allegations of abuse prior to his passing, may affect your opinion and influence a purchase decision. As always, it's up to individuals to determine if they still wish to support a game, developer, publisher, or platform holder given the available information and wider context.
OneShot: World Machine Edition (Switch eShop)
$9.74 (-35%)
A short, compelling point-and-click adventure game originally developed in 2014, OneShot: World Machine Edition has an endearing, sombre story in which developer Future Cat makes you – the player – a character. The quest of Nico, a cat-like child, is framed as a game installed on a PC that functions as both a menu and narrative device and Niko will frequently break the fourth wall to address you by your Nintendo Switch profile name as you guide her through a dying world.
Unlike the adventure games of two or three decades ago, none of the puzzles stumped us, yet the dopamine rush hit us all the same when things slid into place. Before we knew it, the credits rolled, and we sat back, pensive from its bittersweet ending. A Very Good Game™.
Pepper Grinder (Switch eShop)
$6.49 (-57%)
Pepper Grinder is a wonderfully inventive and fun platformer. Channelling the spirits of several retro dig-based games, it may have a runtime that feels a little too short, but this is ultimately a deeply enjoyable, challenging, and highly replayable game with lots of personality.
If any of that sounds interesting, we’d suggest you pick up Pepper Grinder at the next opportunity - and there's a even downloadable demo if you're on the fence.
Persona 5 Tactica (Switch)
$20.99 (-65%)
Persona 5 Tactica is a thrillingly varied tactical RPG that fans of the Phantom Thieves and the genre should take note of. It's a little on the easy side, but the varied gameplay, excellent soundtrack, striking visuals, and lovable characters all make for a very easy recommendation.
We’d especially suggest you pick this up if you really enjoyed Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, as we noticed a lot of parallels. It remains to be seen if this is the last time we’ll be seeing the Phantom Thieves don their masks, but if this does turn out to be their finale, Persona 5 Tactica is a massively enjoyable sendoff for the beloved crew.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Switch)
$13.99 (-65%)
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a slick return to the roots of this franchise that serves up clever 2.5D action wrapped up in a delightful art style and satisfying story.
There's a smart balance here between old-school levels of action and challenge, moreish combat, and neat puzzles, all mixed with accessibility options and fine-tuning that open things up to newcomers and casual players.
We knew Ubisoft Montpellier was a pair of safe hands and the (now sadly disbanded) team didn't let us down, serving up the first must-play of 2024 in a Switch port that absolutely does the business.
Radiant Silvergun (Switch eShop)
$7.99 (-60%)
Radiant Silvergun remains, despite its uncompromising nature, deservedly celebrated. The game wears its hardcore credentials on its sleeve, and its depth in both technical and artistic terms is astonishing. As stimulating and rewarding as it is exhausting, it’s a labour that has transcended not only the genre but the medium to some degree.
Regardless of its difficulty — and in that difficulty, its lack of immediate connection — those who learn to fell the game proper can say they truly lived Radiant Silvergun. That’s an experience worth fighting for.
Return to Monkey Island (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-60%)
Return to Monkey Island reaches into your heart, rips out your desire to know THE SECRET, and clenches it in front of your face. As hard as it would be to concede that The Secret of Monkey Island™ might always have been a MacGuffin, it’s agonising to contemplate that your 30-year longing for the Monkey Island 3 might be just the same.
Return presents to your transfixed gaze a phenomenal point-and-click adventure, bubbling with passion and fun. All the way through, you will hope, achingly, that the big reveal is coming – and then…
Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked (Switch eShop)
$20.99 (-30%)
Rocket Knight Adventures is a series comprising two fine games and one stellar, timeless piece of work.
While the sequels are above average for '90s platform gaming, it’s the series debut that really informs this review’s score. Rocket Knight Adventures is a title that sits comfortably alongside Gunstar Heroes in the pantheon of exceptional games overlooked in their heyday. It does everything an arcade action adventure needs to, and more, outdoing a vast number of actual arcade games in the process.
Its constantly evolving stages, incredible variety of scenarios, and driving cinematic soundtrack make it one of the best of its kind. If that’s not the very definition of underrated, we don’t know what is.
Rogue Legacy (Switch eShop)
$2.99 (-80%)
Rogue Legacy is a simple take on the tried-and-true roguelike formula, but it executes what it sets out to do exceptionally well, making for an endlessly replayable and enjoyable action adventure that no fan of the genre will want to miss out on.
A high difficulty level, funny writing, tight controls and rewarding RPG mechanics make this one an effortless recommendation; the design of the game makes it easy to play in short bursts or long sessions, which means it's a great fit for the Switch.
If you enjoyed Dead Cells, Castlevania, or any 2D sidescroller in that style, you’re almost certain to have a blast with this one. And the next...
Rogue Legacy 2 (Switch eShop)
$12.49 (-50%)
Nearly a decade later (not counting two years of early access), Cellar Door Games finally followed up on its breakout roguelike hit with a sequel.
Rogue Legacy 2 builds upon its predecessor and, even for those who haven't played the first, re-establishes what made it such an enduring hit. While it’s not a game-changing revelation, it manages to follow up on everything that made the original great and makes it bigger and better.
Whether you loved the original Rogue Legacy or never played it but like a good roguelike, this is a game you simply can't afford to miss.
SEGA AGES Out Run (Switch eShop)
$2.39 (-70%)
If you originally missed out on the 3DS port, this is about as essential a retro release as you can get. Out Run has always been an infinitely playable game, and the new unlockables and online rankings only increase its longevity further.
Those with the 3DS version will have to decide whether it’s worth buying what’s more or less the same game again in order to play it on their TV, but for everyone else with an interest in retro gaming, it’s a must-have.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Switch eShop)
$9.99 (-50%)
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has never been better than on Switch; the enhanced versatility of the console lends the game a new sort of appeal and convenience that wasn’t there before. This is a charming, colourful, and sometimes challenging Metroidvania that will no doubt prove to be a memorable addition to your collection.
While it could be a little longer, we would give this one a strong recommendation to anyone who hasn’t yet picked it up for any other platform. For those of you who have, know that you’re essentially just paying for the ability to play this on the go, but that’s still arguably worth the asking price. Either way, this is one of the most polished Shantae games.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Switch)
$26.99 (-55%)
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is a stellar example of an enhanced re-release done right - which is fortunate as the original version was delisted when this launched.
Vengeance's comprehensive approach to improving the story and various gameplay systems of the original release makes for an experience that’s even more engrossing. Though we were disappointed by the lack of any performance gains here, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is still an extremely easy recommendation for any RPG fans.
Some may consider SMT to be “Persona without the heart,” but SMT V: Vengeance cleanly demonstrates that this old Atlus stalwart still has an abundance of fantastic gameplay and unique appeal. A wonderful game.
Shotgun Cop Man (Switch eShop)
$7.49 (-25%)
Shotgun Cop Man can easily stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Super Meat Boy and Celeste in terms of raw, precise gameplay. Using your guns for both traversal and combat with a simple but effective twin-stick setup is a stroke of genius, and it makes for an effortlessly rewarding experience that you'll want to play again and again.
While not overly difficult in itself, nailing the optional objectives is key to achieving 100% completion, and it's here that you'll find challenge and satisfaction in equal measure. It's funny, it's violent, and it's polished – and we suspect it will go down as a cult classic.
Sky Rogue (Switch eShop)
$4.99 (-75%)
While it lacks any storyline and the randomised nature of the missions may strike some as lazy, arcade-style dogfighter Sky Rogue has plenty of gameplay where it counts. The jet combat action is superb, aided by excellent controls, a wide range of weapons and plenty of stuff to unlock.
The 12-stage campaign mode will keep you coming back for quite some time — thanks largely to the unique roguelike approach where death means losing everything, but the experience gained means a better chance of success next time around — and the ability to rope in a friend in co-op adds even more longevity.
Granted, when you do eventually complete the game there's not a great deal to bring you back, but it will take quite some time and effort to reach that point – and you'll have had such a blast you won't feel short-changed.

The only games in this entire sale that I want to get eventually are a few of the Neptunia ones, unless I missed something 🤣
Nice to see Cyberpunk also on sale - hope those going for any of these games thanks to this will enjoy them (and I have my fingers crossed we'll soon see a similar sale here in Europe as well)!
Why is Cave Story never on sale? 😭
Same games, different sale it feels like.
I bought Gimmick 1&2. I'm excited to play both of them.
Some great stuff in here. A lot of things that were on my 'wait for a sale' queue. Gotta finally get around to Monkey Island, Fata Morgana and why not Sonic Mania?
And some new entries The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood and Thronebreaker.
I appreciate the personal pick(s)!
@somnambulance Yeah, weird. It hasn't had a discount for years.
I hear you on that. Though sometimes things celebrate anniversaries or drop even lower than before. Have you ever used Deku Deals? I find it to be a wonderful tool and determinant for me about whether I will take the plunge on a sale.
Katana ZERO, lol. Unfinished game that still didn't receive its DLC.
@somnambulance Cave Story was on sale last time back in... 2022?! Lol, weird.
Yeaaaaaaah! Chants of Sennaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!
Lots of other games I love on this list, but man Chants of Sennaar really deserves a 9/10 at least. If the premise sounds interesting to you, pick it up. It's an incredibly polished and well-realized game that is just long enough.
EDIT: It's weird that all the screenshots included are from the game's second area. The whole game isn't blue with red accents like that, in case anybody was wondering.
@ShieldHero NEP 'EM ALL UP!
Rocket Knight just refuses to get a discount more than 30%. Urghh…
I'm going to throw this out there. If you STILL haven't picked up and played Night in the Woods, what are you even doing?
nice sale if you like anime games. What even is this sale....
Picked up NMS in the UK sale. Bargain price and thoroughly enjoying it in handheld on SW2. 👍🚀
Same old ***** different day.
@Vyacheslav333 @AussieMcBucket Cave Story is basically the only game that’s been on my wishlist since the Switch launched due to its price. Indies were usually cheaper than $30 at launch in those days. Sometimes they’d launch at $10, $15. Crazy, right?
I’ve already played it, but feel like it’s such a good fit for the Switch that I’d like to double dip, but seriously, why no sales? I should’ve jumped when it was 50% off three years ago rather than hoping for a 75% off deal like games used to get in ye olde two years ago-ish.
@somnambulance Yeah, that stinks. Maybe it will come back around. What's that developer up to nowadays?
I picked up The Plucky Squire. Regardless of its score, its always something I wanted to try out, but its initial price off $38.99 CAN was way too much for me when it launched. $16 is a much better value at 60% off.
I might pick up GRIS and The Messenger during this sale even if I'm not quite ready to play them yet... $6.98 is a steal.
Invisible Ink is the only Klei's game that is not in the South Americans eShop. Go figure.
@AussieMcBucket Apparently Pixel had been making prototypes for other games for a couple of years and posting them, only to scrap them later. He hasn’t really done much publicly in like two years now. Can’t believe Cave Story is 20+ years old now. Gotta wonder if he’s a hobbyist that does something else full time.
Why are the leading "The" 's not ignored in the list? I would expect to find The Cosmic Sisterhood up by the C's, and The Witcher by the W's, but instead they are all clustered together with the "The" 's.
@somnambulance Most likely. The original was great.
The Messenger for $3 is a STEAL! It's like if you took the best parts of Ninja Gaiden on the NES, and then made them better annnnnd added a ton of humor.
Is there a reason for so much NA content on a British site ? It’s not like there is really an import scene these days. (Except people buying jap eshop titles that I expect will not end well)
@h3s
Switch sales in North America: 58,610,000
Switch sales in Europe: 39,370,000
Switch sales in Britain: lots less
@SoIDecidedTo And all-time low. Picked it up as well along with Mario + Rabbids 2. Will also prolly pull the trigger on Prince of Persia and No Man's Sky, but I'm trying to keep my backlog under control.. XD
@MontyCircus I am not saying you are not right but I do think the site has been getting worse. When it was just reviewing Wiiware it was the best it’s been. Then when Thomas Whitehead was editor it was well written the reviewers were good (And you got the Nintendo Download updates for at least both Europe and the USA (Which was fine). Now all the real content seems to have gone the number of posts seems to put gossip sites to shame. One decent post could replace 10 useless ones. I only still use the site at all due to habit. (And I am a great fan of time extension which shows that they do know how to make a decent site). Hookshot seems to hate AI but if I could have an AI generated version of this site distilled into a format similar to time extension with Switch Content I would take it. Take a look https://web.archive.org/web/20140228124058/https://www.nintendolife.com/ this was a much better site in the past and had much less pointless slop.
I picked up:
This is very much a "I need more money and storage room" sale.
Unfortunate that neither is available atm.
Nirvana Initiative is straight garbage, and Catherine: Full Body is censored.
Why is it so hard for SEGA to have a sale on the Digital Deluxe Upgrade of Sonic x Shadow Generations?
This sale is the very definition of "already got the games I'm interested in during a previous sale."
I bought Chants of Sennaar based on Jim's description and recommendation and could NOT have been happier. It's such a unique and incredible game, especially if you have any interest in linguistics, or especially sociolinguistics.
I bought AI The Somnium Files (the 1st game) for $3.99
Prince of Persia is an amazing game, and should be talked about in the upper echelon of metroidvanias like, Hollow knight, and Metroid dread. Truly a masterpiece of modern gaming. The messenger is was a blast too, switching form 8 bit to 16 bit to traverse and solve puzzles in the latter half of the game is a really cool mechanic.
