Little Nightmares III (Switch 2)

Launch date: 10th October 2025

Physical?: Not confirmed, but possibly all on the cartridge

Here's another game we've been waiting for for a while, and we've even got confirmation it's coming to Switch 2. Little Nightmares III continues the horror puzzler series with two new characters, and you can go solo or co-op with a friend offline and online.

We expect to be spooked as we work through Nowhere and the Spiral, so we'll definitely be bringing a buddy along.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date: 16th October 2025

Physical?: Yes!

We're not quite ready to usher in the next generation of Pokémon yet, but Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 Edition should give us an insight into just how the series will look and feel on the new console.

Taking us to a developing Lumiose City in Kalos, Legends: Z-A seems to be putting a heavy emphasis on battle, with trainer challenges and a new "active" twist on the turn-based combat. Mega Evolutions make a return too. If previous Pokémon games on Switch are anything to go by, the Switch 2 version will be the way to play the game.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch 2)

Launch date: 30th October 2025

Physical?: Game-Key Card

We're very happy to see that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be making the cross-gen leap; less happy about the Game-Key Card thing, but hey. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake certainly took a bit of a hit on Switch, but the new console should hopefully bring the first two games up to standard.

Anyway, it looks like Dragon Quest I & II are getting more than a few changes on top of the upgraded visuals, and we'll have to wait and see what the reward is once we've beaten all three games. The Zenethian trilogy? One can hope...

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Switch 2)

Launch date: Winter 2025

Physical?: TBC

Another big-hitter is jumping onto the Switch 2 bandwagon. Square Enix's multiplatform strategy is already in action, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the next step in the company's part.

Remake is, in fact, just one part of a planned trilogy — Rebirth is likely also coming to Nintendo's console eventually. It takes the iconic Midgard section of the PS1 classic and expands it hugely, and beautifully. This will be a must-play when it lands on Switch 2.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Switch 2)

Launch date: Winter 2025

Physical?: TBC, but likely

If Breath of the Wild gets a Hyrule Warriors prequel, then it only makes sense that Tears of the Kingdom gets one too. Especially when we have so many questions about the Imprisoning War.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will hopefully give us some of the answers we want alongside incredibly fun Musou gameplay and — fingers crossed — smooth and snappy visuals. Zelda is taking the lead once again, and we couldn't be happier.

Witchbrook (Switch 2)

Launch date: Winter 2025

Physical?: TBC

Announced way back in 2020, Witchbrook finally made a reappearance during March's Nintendo Direct. Then, we found out the social RPG is also coming to the successor!

Beautiful pixel art and myriad systems make up what looks to be an enthralling and fun experience and you attend a magical school. You can play online with friends or go with the flow yourself. We're glad to see Chucklefish back on the dash and can't wait to check this out in the Winter.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date: 2025

Physical?: TBC

Here's another port that makes absolute sense; FromSoftware is going into the Switch 2 hard, and it's kicking things off with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which includes the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and some brand new character classes, introduced for the new version.

You've surely heard of this GOTY winner from 2022 — "open-world Souls" is the phrase often banded around. We're so excited to see how this runs on Switch 2, and hopefully we won't lose our temper as we get our backsides handed to us over and over again.

Hades II (Switch 2)

Launch date: 2025

Physical?: TBC, but Hades was digital-only until later

Hades is one of our all-time favourite Switch games, so when Supergiant Games announced its first-ever sequel in Hades II, we were thrilled. Given, we'd probably buy anything Supergiant released, as they're four for four in fantastic games.

Hades II is a huge expansion on the first game, with new weapons, gameplay styles, and a completely new route to take. It's been in early access since May 2024, but we won't spoilt anything else ahead of the full release (and Switch and Switch 2 timed exclusivity).

Hollow Knight: Silksong (Switch 2)

Launch date: 2025

Physical?: Unlikely; Hollow Knight did get a physical release eventually

Yes, of course Silksong is here. And yes, it's confirmed for Switch 2. It made a brief appearance during the sizzle reel at the Switch 2 Direct, but other than that, things are still relatively quiet for the highly anticipated sequel.

Despite being playable at E3 in 2019, Silksong has been missing in action for a long time and hit by numerous delays. Is 2025 the year, finally? We hope so.

Kirby Air Riders (Switch 2)

Launch date: 2025

Physical?: TBC

When Masahiro Sakurai teased that he was working on a new game, we're sure many assumed it would be a new Smash or a Kid Icarus Uprising HD. Nope! It's Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to the cult GameCube racer.

All we have to go on is a teaser, but given Kirby's ever-growing popularity, and the potential of 120fps races, Kirby Air Riders is going to be a big step up from the first one.

Phew — there's some biggies on the horizon, isn't there? We're not done yet though. Head to the next page to see a few more "2025" releases alongside some 2026 ones, too.
