I recommend you upgrade that Bone+ into a Splash Lance. When Barroth is covered in mud he is weak to water damage. Other than that, like pixel just said, Learn the Almighty Dodge .

Oh well, I'll try upgrading and practicing on some smaller monsters. That Qurupeco capture quest isn't going to finish itself!

Oh, with the Lance, Blocking = Dodging.... in a sense.

I actually did block most of his attacks, but when he did land a blow, it took off almost half of my health D:

@Irken Sounds like you need to upgrade your armour first. What armour are you using?

Practice, practice, practice.

Icidentally if you want to beat Barroth with a bowgun - assemble the following gun parts
Peco frame and stock, Royal Launcher barrel.
Paint,Flame, Water, Normal S3, Crag(2 ideally but 1 will do), upgrade it as much as you can.
Get hold of some Felvine bombs and traps too.
Whetfish, flame herbs and husk seeds for combing more ammo(you'll likely need it).
Armour of your choice.

Paintball him so you don't lose him.
Hit him with water shells until he's cleaned of mud, switch to crag/flame. Aim for legs, belly and flanks.
Be patient. Take any opprtunity you get to heal.
Don't get hit.
Felvine bomb him any time he goes into area 2, those little fellas can do a surprising amount of damage.
Trap him any time he retires to area 3 for free hits.

Hey guys, is Barroth + armor good for thunder monsters?

Yeah I'm having the same problem with Barroth but I can't even beat him online, in the Urgent Quest, so now I cant level up.
I have a Rhenoplos Lance and 'Peco Armor but still nothing. I've been in parties of 4 and we just can't do it. Any tips for online?

@PaupackElite Yeah tell us when your online and we will help as most on this site are on level 3 quests. You are just getting some bad people in your parties that are causing you to fail. Tell us on the na online sever though so we know when you will be online.

@Paupack: You're going to want the Rhenoplos armor for the Barroth, since it cancels mud. :3

Thanks Pix but I just played online and we just beat Barroth. So now I can move on to bigger and better things.

...Is it possible to go after "+" stuff offline, or is that online only? + as in the stuff you get from monsters.

Last night I just finished prepping for an Alatreon sleep/bombing run (pain in the arse ordeal) or would have helped you then. Then when I finished you were off-line.

How is the local multiplayer in MonsterHunter3 anyone?

I believe its online only bell.

Its a blast. If you got the game get online its more fun the offline. It can be a little confusing when you first get on but you dont need friend codes to join 4 person teams.

@paupackelite You dont want JayArrs help. He will beat barroth in like 3 hits and then you will feel on sense of accomplishment:3

And @Tech101 Yeah I saw he was a 99 and I was that desperate. I tried to beat Barroth at least 7 times and the whole party was just not good enough to beat him. Oh well, what's done is done.

@PaupackElite I tried to find you but must have got on to late. I was on at 11:30AM est. I was just joking about jayarr. Hes very fun to hunt with and even at that level he would not be able to kill him in 3 hits. More like 15 though!!
