Baroque is definitely my favorite obscure game ON the Wii, but it's not exclusively a Wii game. But if you like oddball games and roguelike dungeon crawlers, look no further.
Klonoa has failed to sell every single time (sadly) so I think it counts.
F*** I love that game! No other title has warped my awesomeness into such dreamy-like atmosphere with an amazing wonderful surreal soundtrack. Anybody who razzes on the big K gets a swift Mega buster shot to the belly button muhaha.
I know. But it's 2009 Wii, what do you expect? Intelligence? Knowing how to read recommendations?
But seriously, Klonoa had no chance, I think everyone knew that ahead of time. So it's more acceptable than that 3rd game in a series being cancelled by petty jerks.

Any thoughts on how Baroque compares with Shiren the Wanderer? I never really realized that Baroque was a rogue-like, I had a mental picture of it as more of a point-clicky Mist style game, but I have no idea how that became ingrained.

I never played Shiren. Baroque revolves around a tower full of randomly generated levels/floors. You fight through the tower until death at which point you lose all your items and experience (there is a system for keeping a few items) and the game kind of resets, but the story itself progresses. It's a very weird and hard to explain game. I'd recommend it to fans of RPGs, Silent Hill, and Suda51 games.
It sounds a lot like Shiren with the random levels, loss of items, etc....in other words, Roguelike.
I can understand why that wouldn't appeal to a lot of players, but to me there has to be a real "sting" when you die to really make it meaningful. If it makes me curse like a sailor, slam my controller down on the couch, leave the room muttering something like, "That's it! I am never playing that game again!"....and bring me slinking back in an hour or so for another go, then that's a great gaming experience. Even if it makes me sound deranged.

I feel you on that one. I'm a video game masochist. I think that's why I haven't been particularly impressed with most contemporary games, because they constantly hold your hand.
@WaltzElf I just ordered a new copy of "Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga" at Amazon.com for only $12.73 + shipping & handling. What a steal this was. Hey @SKTTR, I might be picking up a copy of Sakura Wars soon as well. If I don't purchase Arc Rise Fantasia first. (<:
While I haven't actually owned it, Pirates Plund-arr is good 4-player fun, basically Castle Crashers in retail form.

^ I remember when that game was renamed to Eledees in some territories. Konami treated the name change like they were unveiling a whole new game, even though we had heard about Elebits months eariler.
To avoid innuendo and/or jokes about Firetruck noises, Nintendo should change WiiU's name to Perfect Nintendo Entertainment System, or PNES for short.
I'd think Rune Factory Frontier would fit in your description. It's clearly the most obscure Harvest Moon game (which, in fact, it's no quite difficult). I agree with Sakura Wars. It's a game it has been in my wish list for a long time, but Xenoblade is my anticipated game so...
