@Adam yeah the motion controls might work OK on the Neutron class, but later on the breakneck speeds may make it much too difficult to operate. The WiiMote and Nunchuk combo is most likely your best bet on the latter classes. To answer your question, you have to complete the leagues race classes to receive unlockables. (<:
Edit: Nevermind, I seem to have figured it out. Didn't realize there were three classes AND three cups. I was wondering how I'd unlock several cars from only three leagues.
Yea, I realize that. I'm on the third league of the first class, and it has taken me several tries just to get seventh on the last course. I don't understand what to do on that track. The boost tracks throw you into walls constantly, with seemingly no way to avoid it. I'd prefer not to even hit the boosts at all if possible just to avoid running into walls. My only hope is to do really well in the first three races so that getting eighth on the last one isn't a big deal for ranking.
That's pretty much it @Adam. I can't tell you anything that will help with the problem your having, with the boost strips. Steering at high velocity is still difficult for me sometimes. It just takes skill, the right acceleration and braking. Practice makes perfect, well...... as perfect as possible. But if you need to take a shortcut there's plenty of them, just go check out FAST Racing League on YouTube.
I saw those videos, but I have been trying to beat the leagues without shortcuts. I am on the second class now, and wow, that's fast.
I am also done the first set of challenges. What do you get for completing all the challenges? Some are fun, but others are just frustrating. I'd rather not jump through hoops for nothing.
Really I just want to unlock all the cars. If there is some secret league, I'd of course want to unlock that, too, but it seems like it's just the three leagues.
There are just three leagues, which you unlock the Jukebox from beating. You get nothing for beating the challenge, just a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I downloaded this game last week and I'm having a lot of fun with it. But if you think it's hard steering on the beginner level, wait til you get to the Ion league and you are using the fastest car. It's almost too fast for its own good. But it's not that difficult to get at least third place with enough practice.

This game is a lot of fun. It looks amazing. Too bad there is no online mode, but I guess that's to be expected if you want to cram something as playable and graphically amazing in just 40 megs. (How on earth did they do that?)
Um... why is it that when I press B on the Classic it boosts instead of brakes? That's kind of the opposite of what I'm going for there. I don't particularly brake often, but I would like to be able to slide. The instructions say B is for brake, but if I have enough energy, it'll activate a boost, squandering five energy and usually throwing me off the track in the process. This is more than a little annoying. I like motion controls a lot, but they're too sensitive for playing at higher speeds.
Does anyone have a save file they'd like to share? I would really like to be able to play all the cars, and the game does not seem to want me to finish it. All the cars I have are disappointingly average velocity at best.
My biggest complaint is the drifting technique. It just doesn't work that well. I would have preferred the sliding technique used in F-Zero GX. That worked flawlessly.
