Ray, watched one of your vids -- you make it look so easy! I managed to get minimum A ranks in Silver cup; getting Bs in Gold is turning out to be a lot harder than I would have thought!
You should see those guys with 1 million+ lifetime, only managed to beat one recently but that was only once >_<. Racing gets easier once you learn the track’s available stunts and paths. Its pretty much trial and error when it comes to picking which tricks to perform or avoid (depending on which bot you are using). Personally the Ladybug and the Mouse are the best bots to start with when finding pathways or experimenting with stunts (air spins, tree runs).
Really? The Mouse doesn't seem to get much air; the Bat I have more success with grabbing air bars and such. I'm near to unlocking the Hummingbird. Great thing is there's so much to unlock I could play this all year and still not have everything!
Yeah there's so many subtle things in the game that really make a difference over Excite Truck! Obviously online is a biggy, mini-games, more tracks, new environments but the lifetime stars, betting the stars on races and using some stars to buy new bots etc is just genuis.

Some of the tracks tend to be very similar to the ones in Excite Truck, especially Gold Scotland.
The Mouse actually gets pretty good air. Bot airtime mainly depends on how fast you’re going, turbo jumps (obviously), the tilt on the control, and the number of air spins you perform (these spins usually reduce airtime). EDIT: Oh yeah the hill/ramp you take off from greatly affects airtime/distance (for best results take off from the center of the clearly marked road). If you want bots that move fast I suggest the Grasshopper, the Centipede, or the Spider. Note: The Grasshopper is bad at red bars, I suggest doing the red bar minigame first and maybe the other minigames too as they help getting used to the controls.
I haven't used anything other than theFrog just now, going to unlock all the cups and tracks then replay them all using various other bots to try and get the remaining S-Grades.
On another note I found an online petition started by someone to get Excitebots released in PAL teritorries
I urge anyone who has this game or wants this game to copy and paste the url and sign the petition. It may come to nothing but its definately worth a go in my book!!
I am just trying to 100% complete Excite Truck. The last level is taking me multiple attempts, Finland on the platinum level of Super Excite mode, whereas I passed most of the earlier levels with just one or 2 tries. I'm close to scoring what I need for "S" grade at the end of the game. I already unlocked Nebula bonus track.
Then I will try Excitebot next, and I am really looking forward to it. I hope to join the online races with you folks from Nintendo Life. That would be radical.
I didn't want to spoil my Excite Truck muscle-memory and interest, by jumping over to Excitebots, until I finish ExciteTruck.

@dgold: Excitebots allows the use of the control style in Excite Truck and you can eventually unlock the Boulder (get S rank in every track) as a bonus. As mentioned in my previous post the tracks tend to be very similar to the ones in Excite Truck (usually just sections of tracks) and become noticeable right away when you race.
Just played my first online races on Excitebots, flawless!! Raced a guy called Nick 4 times - it was just teh two of us - and came in second all 4 times, however my lifetime stars of 3,500 pale in comparison to his 2,500,000 so with some more experience maybe I will win a few races!!
Not really sure how the betting works, am I betting on the position I will finish in or the grade for the stars I will get??

On another note when i got my NA Wii it came with Kawaski Jet Ski in the box. I feel as if I was raped after playing that game. Really afwul. Thank god I have excitebots to make up for it!!
