considering how frequently you seem to need jellybeans, I'd say it's a pretty substantial hindrance. What I'd like to know though is just how difficult of a puzzler it is. Do situations really require you to think? Or is it just a matter of going through a bunch of easily recognised chores to get to the goal?
The jellybean mixup interface isn't even that big of a deal. I played the game for 3 hours tonight and the reason the jellybeans get mixed around is that some stages don't allow certain abilities (such as the blob turning into a trampoline). It tries to challenge the player by only allowing maybe 3 different abilities (only two of which are generally useful). There was about two times during my play that I was stumped. And the first boss comes without clues, you have to guess which jellybeans to use. There are unlimited lives and automatic saving which is helpful considering the boy falls over if some monster grazes his elbow. Or if he falls from too high.
