@arronishere: I don't like or agree with the First Print Edition being £50. By purposely restricting it to the Nintendo UK store and GAME in the UK they're limiting the competition on price. I'm going to try and buy it elsewhere online cheaper. Other bundles on Wii U games were far better and cheaper. For example, I got the Limited Editions of Xenoblade Chronicles X and Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water delivered for about €50 each. And Star Fox Guard doesn't look like it's up to much.
Bit the bullet for the online Best Buy pre-order. April 22nd is going to be quite a haul — Star Fox Zero, Star Fox Guard, a Falco amiibo and an early code for Mini Mario and Friends. Not bad at all.
I broke my media blackout just a bit, for I am weak. Watched half of this video, and don't regret it — this feels so much like the kind of Star Fox I want:
What are the controls for this game, I know you can only use the gamepad (for single player) but what does each button do and are there any control configure options?

I don't know the full setup, but this is what I've read:
Left stick controls the ship's basic movements.
Right stick rolls left or right, and barrel roll by flicking/shaking it horizontally.
Y recalibrates the gyro.
R is used to shoot bombs. Pressing down the right stick can be used as an alternative way to shoot bombs.
L for lock-on reset.
ZR shoots.
ZL switches to target view.
The controls aren't configurable.
There are different modes on how the gyro works, which is configured through the pause menu.

Star Fox Zero (Wii U) – 9/9/8/9 [35/40]
Star Fox Guard (Wii U) – 7/8/8/8 [31/40]
@jariw: I'm not sure I like the sound of "barrel roll by flicking/shaking it horizontally". Do you mean flicking the right stick or the Gamepad itself?
Any idea about somersaults and U-turns? I always used to have problems pulling off somersaults at the right moment with the 64 and Classic controllers but I've been getting on a lot better with the Pro controller.

The somersault with the Arwing is done with X, or by putting both sticks at reverse vertical position.

With GAME's previous track record with Wii U Preorders, this is not encouraging....
Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?
I have 2 questions (sorry if they have been answered before). First, do all first-run versions of this come with a physical version of Guard or only the limited editions? Second, has it been confirmed or denied that there is a way to earn the black Arwing in the game without the Falco amiibo? I'm looking at the Best Buy pre-order that @VelvetElvis mentioned and am wondering if it is worth it. I will probably definitely do it if it will come with a physical version of Guard. I also don't really care for the amiibo but I would like it if it is the only way to get the different Arwing because in a game that is basically based around replaying it, that would be a fun way to do it.
@DarthNocturnal: I thought the physical version was going to be limited, though, and then it would just be an eShop download code after that. Am I wrong about that?
