@Octane: Did you actually played the SNES version? If not, then don't act like ur an expert of that game. I grew up with the SNES version. So if there is a bigger fan of it than I, it can only be none other than Hajime Hirasawa, the composer for its kick arse soundtrack.
So, speaking as a SNES fan, you think Ninty had a choice with the SNES hardware? Choosing to use the low-poly model when they could have used the higher one on the Wii U just reeks of laziness. Well, actually, the real reason is they too lazy to create a higher-poly walker and its transformation b/c that didn't exist in the SNES SF 1.0, which again stinks smells of lethargy. For all I care all u N64 fanboys can have smelly SFZero and its primitive unlockables. It's no more than a cheap indy title to my eyes anyways what with the terrible gamecube graphics... and not to mention half-baked soundtrack.
Years from now ppl will praise Assault OST more than the SFZero one!
If you want polygons, don't scan the StarFox amiibo. Bam. Polygon paradise. More polygons than you can shake a stick. More polygons than I've had hot dinners. Probably.
Now can we move onto something less inane? Like... anything. Almost literally anything. How many whiskers does Fox have? I don't know. Maybe you know. Maybe you don't.
Whiskers. Let's talk about them. Or something else. Anything else.
@Maxz: Whiskers is a very important subject. How did the number of whiskers on Fox change between SNES and the N64 version, 20 years ago? I think there might be some very important clue here to how Star Fox Zero will play.

Finally someone said it! Why would anyone play with the ugly retro Arwing (no matter which one) anyway? And thanks for ending that ridiculous discussion.
@DefHalan: I could see it if the game has Miiverse stamps hidden throughout the stages as collectibles. I could also see the game showing Miiverse posts in loading screens, a la Yoshi's Woolly World.
Recently finished: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Splatoon 3: Side Order, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Currently playing: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
What's next: ?
@Ralizah: I'm pretty sure it works for the entire thing. I think it even has some differences beyond the aesthetics, but I'll have to look them up.
EDIT: Here we are, from Alex's Preview:
"amiibo functionality should be enough to please both sides of the toy-to-life argument; Fox unlocks the retro Arwing from the SNES original, complete with unique features such as a lack of lock-on for any difficulty junkies, and Falco unlocks the Black Arwing, a glass cannon in the Star Fox universe that deals more damage, can lock onto two enemies at once, but only has a third of the shield strength. Both add to the appeal for skilful players."
It doesn't explicitly state they work for all the stages, but if they were anything else (such as only Corneria), then I assume that would have been mentioned. Although having said that, I don't know what happens on the Landmaster and Gyrowing stages. My guess is nothing (I can't imagine a 16-bit Gyrowing), but I guess some characteristics could carry through onto those stages.
I'd like to find out though.
DOUBLE EDIT: If you watch the Co-op Video NL put together, you can see that the Black Arwing is certainly playable in later modes, and it seems almost certain that the Retro Arwing will be usable too.
@Maxz Oh, wow. Thanks for the detailed response! I'll definitely be getting a Fox McCloud amiibo with this game, then, because that Retro Arwing is snazzy. I especially like the altered Corneria music, too.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Honestly, after watching GameXplain's Q&A about the game, it doesn't seem that exciting. It seems like a rehash of StarFox64 except with motion controls and they didn't seem like they put much effort into the story. I'm also not a huge fan of motion control games and it seems like this game is heavily relying on motion controls and the gamepad. I prefer the Pro Controller and that just doesn't seem like it's going to work well for this game. I don't know if it's going to be worth the purchase for me.
I'm starting to get really quite excited about the game. That scene in Corneria (I assume it's Corneria) where you run inside the ship and blow it up from the inside seems really cool; a change of pace from SF64 but not so jarringly that feels like a different game. I'll be interested to see what the reviews look like when they come. And obviously, much more interested to actually play the game itslelf.
