The game has 20 levels it seems. According to someone who had a review copy, Corneria 1 & 2 for example aren't the same levels either. So if you include branching paths, then this has at least more content than 64. Good to see that they're not cheaping out on every game.
Looks like we'll have at least 20 stages to play through, according to that level list graphic. And what the heck happens to Corneria in this game!? It goes from looking like Earth to looking like Mars in that graphic.
Recently finished: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Splatoon 3: Side Order, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Currently playing: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
What's next: ?
Judging from the list, the one above Sector Omega is probably the already known Fortuna stage and then the remaining 8 are unrevealed ones. The hope for Katina, Aquas, Solar, Macbeth, Bolse, Area 6 and new planets/areas continues!
Regarding the control scheme, the Y button can be used to reset the gyro. The pause menu can toggle the rectile to always stay at the front of the ship, instead of using gyro. And if the rectile is fixed at the front, holding down a shoulder button can temporarily enable the gyro aiming.
So it's possible to fly the arwing similar to how it controlled in earlier games. However, if the player wants high scores, gyro aiming is necessary.
@Dezzy: Star Fox 64 had 15 levels. I think it's a safe bet that most of the ''Area'' and ''Sector'' levels are going to be mostly free-roam space battles. We we already know that Area 3 has on-foot gameplay, so I don't think they're all going to be 15 minutes of boring space battles.
@Octane:
Aha yeah good point on the "sector" levels. That looks likely.
I do prefer the off-rails parts for sure. I just prefer it when it's on a planet or an interesting environment of some kind. Like that part at the end of the first level where you're flying around the circular tower area, killing all of those spider things, that's where I think Star Fox is fun.
@Dezzy: I get what you're saying. I don't mind the space battles, after all, it takes place in an entire solar system, from a story perspective, it makes sense that we're getting space battles. They might not be the most visually interesting, but I do think that they're part of a Star Fox game. At least they provide variety in that they're visually a lot different from the planetary levels.
The world map music (no gameplay). From what I've heard so far in terms of the game soundtrack from the game, I think they really have succeeded with the soundtrack.
Ha, @jariw, I came here to post that very thing. Star Fox has never suffered in the music department, and I'm glad to here that Zero carries the torch.

Um, no. Nothing can outdo SNES StarFox soundtrack. The reason why SFZero music sounds a bit off is b/c they're re-orchestrating the SF64 one. Every piece of music I hear it starts with something very original and unique then when it goes to the SF64 part, I'm snoozing off. I wish Ninty would just let the past go. SNES SF was the better StarFox and the reason why I'm not getting SFZero. Zero tries to be too much like N64, the iteration I hates the most! And the Retro Arwing don't cut it. Couldn't believe how lazy they were using the in-game model. The Arwing in the SNES control select menu had much more polygons. THAT should have been the model the Fox Amiibo unlocks, not the lower poly in-game one that looks like a flying pyramid...

lol. They didn't pick the SNES Arwing because it looked good...
Lol, that b/c u never played the SNES one before. Most ppl don't realized there were two diff Arwing models in the SNES game, a higher poly true form one, and a lower poly one.
This is the higher poly one:
It looks way slicker than the low-poly flying pyramid the Fox amiibo unlocks. Seems even Ninty don't respect SFZero to give it their all. I mean it's just a few more polygons, how hard could it have been to model it?
This is the one u want to see in all-range mode sections, not the pointy pyramid with ears (see below) that make me wanna barf...
(Uh oh Ninty, u gotta be sh!ttin me... I suppose to like this primitive Arwing model? THAT makes we wanna get Fox amiibo?!?!)
(Again, see how sexy the higher polygone one is!!!!!)

They obviously took the model that people were familiar playing back then, not what the cut scenes used?

Do you have some footage without the frame drops? Or is the frame drops part of the "sexy"?
The cut scene, THE CUT SCENE! Spoken like some1 who never played the SNES SF! You can fully pilot the high-poly Arwing in the Control Select Menu! As if THAT one were the actual in-game one! So YES! Ppl were already femiliar w the high poly Arwing b4 the Corneria level even started! If there's anything a SNES SF fan has fond memory of it's the first Arwing he saw, which is the control select menu one!
The reason why Ninty went SNES low-poly in game was b/c the system couldn't handle too much polygons from the enemies + surroundings too. That was only reason to go low-poly. Don't tell me the Wii U can't handle a few more poly than THAT abomination of a flying pyramid!
PS: That vid was the only one I could find with the high-poly SNES Arwing moving around...
This is what you want to stare at in those all-range sequence dogfights not THAT ugly thing which unlocks w Fox amiibo and is already present on ZFZero disc:

At this point you're just trolling. It can't handle a few more polygons, but is able to render a full HD model of the Arwing? They went with that version of the Arwing because that is the version you used in game.
