I think there should be a way to report AFK players. Giving up because you're on the losing side is flat out not okay! There's always a chance to turn the tide.

I agree that AFK players are annoying and that you should never give up on a battle, however, I don't think you should be able to report them. Sure, some players stop playing because their team is losing, but, you never know, something unexpected might of happened where they needed to stop playing to attend to something. It is annoying, but at least it is for only one battle, and you can easily find a new group afterwards.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt if it happens once since real life stuff can happen during the middle of a match like answering the door to receive a package. If it happen more then twice in long intervals, then I get suspicious. I once played a turf war match where a player start playing in the last 30 or so second before the match ends. It was annoying since I was team up with him two times in a row.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

@Blue_Blur: When there are connection issue the game should automatically stop the match. In conclusion, most of these players just flat out give up. There should be some repercussion for this.

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but if your team is losing really bad in a ranked battle, some teammate just starts jumping off the stage over and over again. There is no excuse for that; at least TRY!!!

@whodatninja My opinion is like Ultraraichu's. If there is a package or something, I understand why they need to stop for a minute. But you're right, if it's clear that they're not even trying, there should be some type of penalty for that.

I don't care as much if people go AFK during Turf War (which happens frequently), because whatever it's just for fun, but in Ranked where it's more competitive, you need everyone to do their best, even when nearing defeat.

And sure, real life can get in the way, but when it happens near the end of a match then I have my doubts.

This is why they should add Rainmaker and so on to Regular battle mode. Then I can play those without worrying about ranks. (though i mostly play Ranked for the quick $$$ and EXP)

It still boggles my mind that in Super Smash you can get banned for idling but the same rule doesn't apply in Splatoon. I played for nearly two hours last night before I got to So Hawt rating. Usually I can do it within a half hour or 45 minutes. I notice that I'm almost always the top inker on the team but when I have a 0 on my team I rarely win. Sometimes I even out ink their top player's score even with their 300pt bonus. I don't think Nintendo will ever address the 0 issue. I wish they'd at least ease the pain a bit by rewarding with points for EVERY 400pts inked or something. I hate scoring 1500pts on the losing team and only getting 2pts EXP.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

I agree about the players who are just messing around needing punished somehow, there seems to be a lot of them recently.Temporary bans and/or loss of rank for those not trying will soon sort it out.Yesterday was very frustrating for me,no matter what room I joined I always seemed to get at least 1 numpty on my side.Something that really gets to me is when you're playing Tower Control and trying to get ahead in the last few seconds but the rider gets splatted and 1 or more of your teammates nearby don't even attempt to get back on it.

Yes! I hate that! If someone would get on the Tower, then it could go into overtime, and your team could have a chance at winning. It's frustrating when you don't even get the overtime chance when you should've gotten it.

@Blue_Blur: Yep,that scenario has me yelling at the Gamepad haha.I'm sure a lot of the time it's just your teammates aren't even aware or are tied up with an opponent,if they replaced the 'Nice' with 'ride the tower' or even better 'get on the tower NOW!!!' then it might help.

I'll admit I've been guilty a few times of being that guy in ranked, sometimes I start and forget I'm not playing Turf Wars and go running off doing my own thing when I should be helping the team but I'll realise my mistake eventually, sometimes too late though haha.I'll also admit I was guilty of 'seabagging' for a spell, someone done it to me after I had stalked him for ages and it made me laugh so I started doing the same after certain kills.I've never really played online shooters before so it was the first time i'd seen it and found it hilarious. At 37 I should really know better though so I've nipped it in the bud now.Still makes me laugh when someone does it to me though.

'Get on the tower NOW!!!' would certainly get the other teammate's attention. I like that idea.

They really should use all of the D-Pad directions for communicating, though. It would be much easier to communicate with your team that way.

Anybody else feel like they have to be the best player on their team to win? I feel like that a lot and it's a lot of pressure sometimes to deal with. I feel like I'm a really good second player but when I finish on my team in the #1 spot and sometimes so frequently I feel I failed or I yell what were you guys doing if I was the best that round lol. Some days I wonder if I belong as an A player.

@Spoony_Tech: What rank are you now? And by the sound of it, with you almost always being the MVI (Most Valuable Inkling) you belong in A rank, or even S!

While I don't get that feeling often, I'm kind of used to it since I tend to be in the top 2 without realizing. I'm usually just concerned about trying to make the team win because I'm aware how important it is for the team to win in a ranked match. So I'd usually try my best to support the team in any way possible like clearing out the enemy team or focusing on getting the zones/going on the tower/grabbing the Rainmaker.

@Blue_Blur: The thing is though I'm often #1 when we lose. I'm A rank btw and rarely go say 17-6 or 12-4. I'm more of the rush in and get dirty kind of person. I'm happy when I can go 10-7. I really need to learn to keep my deaths down the higher rank I go.

@Megumi Nope, private battles is the only other mode you can do during a Splatfest.

@Spoony_Tech: I fight the same way; I usually kill a lot of people, but also die a lot in the process. If anything, I usually die around 10 times a ranked battle! I need to learn to be more careful, too.
