Still pretty upset that NA Club Nintendo never got the SNES controller. We were the only region to not get it. I was saving up Coins for it but I had to blow them on DLC once the program ended.

Well I'm bummed. The SFC came in today but it's giving me the Black Screen of Death. Powers on, signal goes to the TV but it's all black, no audio either. Doing some research online it appears to be common and it could be one of 4 things wrong. 1) bad capacitor (mine looks to be in good condition), 2) Bad PPU (picture processing units), 3) Bad CPU, or finally 4) bad 62 pin connector.

I'm taking it to work today to blow some compressed air and test another TV just to rule out those. If that doesn't fix it then I'll send it back

Edit: yeah looks like the machine is dead. The only thing I got out of the other carts is for a split second the initial ba-deep sound comes through but then nothing. Sending back and already ordered a replacement hah. Here's hoping this next one works.

Another retro shopping spree. This time I decided to hit a local flea market and I am very pleased with the deals I got. I think this shopping trip will even get @the_shpydar seal of approval.

For first up a "magical" original Xbox console. Let me say yes I prefer original consoles but unless I have alot of room and alot of money Arcade games are a bit trickier to get so I went with the Xbox route. So now I can play my favorites like Alien VS Predator, Xmen and other arcade classics. All that for $50

Next a few sports games Nintendo World cup on NES, NFL Blitz and Ken Griffey on SNES all 3 for 10 dollars. Honestly I only wanted Ken Griffey but decided to snag up the other two since they were in the same bin as Ken Griffey and it was 3 for 10 bin.

An quite possibly the best deal TMNT II for NES with a box (sadly though the manual is missing). I got this from the same guy that I bought the "magic" Xbox from. As I was leaving the flea market, I decided to stop in his stall again since he was located by the entrance and see what he had for the NES and found this game. He decided to let me have it for $20. This is one game that I have always wanted but never owned, until now.

@ogo79: I actually have Guardian Heroes that they released on XBLA a few years back on my 360.

Holy smokes, the replacement Super Famicom is perfect. Absolutely no yellowing and the inside is immaculate. I'm debating on even cleaning the board itself. I gave the two controllers a good tear down and scrub so that's all sorted. The power brick is faulty though. The wire from the brick can only sit a specific way for it to work. I've already ordered a replacement but I'd like to get the original working again. I'll post pictures once everything is here.

Edit: finally got pics

Hey you guys wanna see something crazy? Goodwill.com has an auction for a boxed Wild Guns that's currently at $250

http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/Super-Nintendo-Console-8...

Super rare game and even rarer boxed. I imagine it will double by the end of the auction if not more.

One thing I like about it is that it's not promoted anywhere, you have to see the picture to actually know what you're buying so a search engine wouldn't pick it up.

@OneBagTravel: It's because Goodwill never knows what they have. I work at one and the manager is always asking me if games we get in should go to the online auction. I tell him roughly how much it's going for and then it's up to the person listing it if they follow what the stores says.

True story. A few years ago a C.I.B Chrono Trigger came in with a bunch of cartridge only SNES games (Commons like SMW, Punch Out, some sports games etc.). I told the guy that Chrono Trigger goes for 200 dollars easily. Well he sent it off to the auction place and the morons at the auction placed bundled the Chrono Trigger game with the other SNES games and listed it as SNES game bundle, but if you looked there was Chrono Trigger with the others. Needless to say someone got a deal as the whole bundle sold for 50 dollars.

@Tasuki, yeah that's really cool. This feels like a true fleamarket/swap meet because you have to do the leg work of clicking on every auction to find any gems.

As for as a recent purchase, over the weekend I picked up Super Mario RPG for $45. The label is wrecked but I also purchased a JP version to swap the carts. The JP version are a dime a dozen so I figure no harm on using one to swap cartridges. And it was only $9 shipped

@OneBagTravel: Oh yeah, I have got a fair share of good deals from there. A few systems and a bunch of games, and all worked fine. Of course you need to read the description especially when it comes to the systems.

Good morning people! I'm new to the page but I thought I'd share with you my recent pick up for my NES collection:

PAL A version of The Flintstones: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak. One good thing about the game is it's actually quite good, I had my fingers crossed that it wasn't horrible to play!

@ogo79 Cheers for that! It's taken me a long time to get hold of that and one of the final 3 I need for the full PAL A set
