In the Pokemon hype, despite buying it on VC, I ordered an original copy of Green. Authentic complete Japanese copy.
Although I wouldn't mind buying a certain bootleg version of Green. The one with a hilariously bad and overly-verbose English translation.
Not the ones listed on ebay that are just a cheap hack of the official Red/Blue localization. That's not cool.
Currently playing through TLOZ Minish Cap on my GBA. I beat the game about 10 years ago but I don't remember it being this bad. The game feels way too linear. Like every screen in just a puzzle. There's hardly any action. No idea why I finished it all those years ago.
I was going to wait until i had some more so i could throw up yet another epic ShpydarhaulTM post, but it's Ultra-time!
Rollergames (NES) - As @ogo79 and i are awesome, we both happened to pick up this game at the same time. I actually just beat it last night — it's definitely a lot of fun, a good overlooked game. It has its issues (basically just some tricky platforming in spots), but overall worth picking up especially since you can find it for way cheap. And you know it'll eventually show up on a James & Mike Play or Pat episode and then the price will spike.
Snake's Revenge (NES) - i always hear horrible things about this game, and i haven't really started playing it yet so i can't confirm the hate, but i figured what the hell. Never played it beyond the opening minutes, and having just recently played through the original NES Metal Gear once again, i was hankerin' for some more Snake-erin.

By the way, you may remember some posts back i mentioned an item that i thought got nicked in the post, but it turned out just to be buried under some snow. This is it (this is a stock photo; i realized as i was posting this that i hadn't taken a pic of mine and i'm too lazy to do it at the moment, lol) : Super Joy III - it's another Chinese "76000 in 1!" dealy, one of the ones that was actually pulled from shops some years back. Lots of great NES/Fami titles (but obviously not 76000 - closer to around 100 or so; the rest of the "titles" are just duplicates or hacks, etc). There's emulation issues with respect to sound and/or graphics for many of the games, but it's a nifty little thing to have. The coolest thing about this thing is that on the underside is a Fami cartridge slot, so it's also a Famiclone!
Now pardon me while i get back to playing my Famicom Goonies cart. I love that game (though the C64 Goonies game is my favorite in the criminally small Goonies video game genre )
I found Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door for a good price on Amazon so I got it. Seems like a good idea as there's no sign of GC on Wii U VC and GC games will just keep getting more expensive as time goes on. FE Path of Radiance has increased in price by around 1000% since I bought it about 10 years ago.
@the_shpydar
lol i had a couple of those super joy 3s.
i actually beat a few games on it without managing to hit that easy to press reset button.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.

@Grumblevolcano: As soon as I saw this I checked Amazon and got the game complete in manual for £45 so thanks loads for mentioning that! The game seems to be getting pretty rare so I'm definitely happy with the price in a few more years it'll be hard to get! I recently got path of radiance For £80 complete with manual but I was lucky as I bidded but no one else seemed to notice it was up so I lucked out normally it's 100 and it's only getting rarer!

Probably too much but I placed an order for a Shippo de Bun (TailGator) GB cart (or "Tail on a Bun", machine translation called it. Though I'm sure that's a food you can actually buy somewhere. ) A Natsume game, I'm sure it's probably decent but nothing exceptional. Still a fraction of the $110+ ebay/amazon BIN price.
So last night I received something great from the mail: the cartridge, manual, and box of Brain Lord for the Super Famicom! As someone who likes NTSC Brain Lord as a guilty pleasure (despite admitting to its numerous faults and flaws), I knew I had to try the Japanese version someday. Some changes I noticed so far: Remeer has got blue hair (even though in the cover the only thing that's blue is his hat), there is still a bit of slowdown but not quite as much (I haven't beaten this version yet to confirm that notion), and the weapons are more powerful (you start with a 2 sword instead of a 1 sword like in the West, for example). Already made it past the first two dungeons so today it's time to venture in the third dungeon.
It's great to own more than one version of the same game; you get to see what content the West missed out on or got altered the first time around, and sometimes it may involve different difficulty depending on the game in question
Got a Robopon 2 Cross Version loose cart from amazon for about $25 and shipping. Apparently that's not a bad price for the Cross version, which seems to be more valuable than the Ring version. I don't have Ring, but might as well go for the rarer version if I can?
Paper mario thousand year door came! I'll be playing the og paper mario on my wii u tonight!

So I just discovered another difference between the Japanese version and the North American version of Brain Lord: in the Western version when you fought against Romus' three specters in the Ice Castle the floor was all slippery with four holes that you had to not fall in lest you wanted to retake the route to start the battle over again, while in the original Super Famicom edition there is a straight line of non-slippery floor surrounded by otherwise slippery ice which had no holes to fall in whatsoever. I'm starting to get the impression that SFC Brain Lord is easier than NTSC SNES Brain Lord. I wonder what else is different? ...unless there are no more changes.
So it's been awhile since I posted here so here are a few retro goodies I picked up the past few days.
So first up I picked up Chakan from a yard sale (they had a few other Genesis games but ones I already had) for the Genesis. I never played it heck until that day I never heard of it so looked it over. It sounds like an interesting game so I will give it a go. For $2 why not.
Second up is Apocalypse for the PS. This game is more for the memories. I remember renting this game with my friends several times and just having a blast with it. I also remember it was a tough one too. And having Bruce Willis in it isn't bad either. I picked it up from my local Retro game store for a fiver.
Next up is a Retron. Been wanting something to play my NES games since honestly my NES is getting up their in age and I am sure with as much use I have put on it, it's time is slowing coming to an end. So since this item got the @the_shpydar seal of approvement I figure for 20 dollars why not. I am looking forward to testing out Ducktales on it tonight.

CIB Japanese Thunder Force III for about $40. Not too considering the selling price for loose US carts seems to be around $30, but sellers are trying to push $40.

Lol yeah. I will admit I am not big on clone consoles, but I wanted to play some of my NES games and my NES has been acting up. Yeah I could get a Retron 5 or even a 3, but I just needed a NES, and I don't have the money to spend on an official NES.
