@BruceCM Well I hope so. Because I do not want another RE Revelations 1, RE5 or RE6. RE7 was in a house with TVs and stuff but still it had that rustic charm. RE8 was perfect!
RE0,1,2, 3 and 4 had parts that were gothic/creepy.
Well, I liked Revelations 1 & 2 as well, @Zuljaras.... Perhaps if they do a 3rd of those, it can be along those lines whilst main games stick to similar themes as most of the series
Yeah given that 7 was quite well received, I think I'll just play it first. Just waiting til I'm in the mood really. Most of the time I'm not really up for the more horror-oriented games, although I often do like them after I finally force myself to play them.
Ok played through the doll section, and the dam section.
Doll was fun, a bit short, but very horror-like. Ethan basically went to Silent Hill for that bit.
The dam was a bit annoying. With the waiting, guessing, slow movement and instant deaths you need to memorize, but I suppose it at least didn't overstay it's welcome too much.
I also had the great idea of recording my playthrough to save it on YouTube. Of course, the first hour-long episode took a day and a half to upload... So that's gonna be a fun process... Sigh.
@Zuljaras There's an aspect I loved about RE3R, and that's how customizable the unlocks are. You can get good enough at it and unlock everything with some planning. The game doesn't ask perfection of you, like other games with their unlocks, you can just save your challenge points and go for the things you want to get first.
It's the only game in the series I've completely 100% all by myself, whereas with RE2R, yes it's better as a horror game, but as a game, I played each scenario once and was done with it. RE3R? I basically became a speedrunner.
RE8 seems to take this aspect, which is good. Tough the challenges in this one ask for some random things (like having specific amounts of money), and mercenaries stuff, which I'm not super good at.
@Eel I am biased myself as I really like Leon as a character I did not care for Jill that much
But RE3 is better for speedrunning!
And 3-4 months before the release of Village I got the RE craze and started playing ALL RE games I could buy! I admit I was a fan long before that in the 90s but I have never finished a single RE game!
Now I have went through all the main titles if you count the remakes. But I really want to complete the old 2 and Nemesis. If I am lucky I could find a good deal on RE2 for the N64
The original 3 is fairly unique because it has an element of randomness to it: every time you play, a few enemy encounters and puzzle solutions may be different.
And the original 2 went above and beyond with the different scenarios, they're much more involved than the Remake's. 2 effectively has two different versions of the events, while the 2R has 1 set story, with slight variations depending on who you play as first.
Interestingly enough, the original 2 mostly avoided the continuity problems the remake had (like the repeated bosses, and Anette's fate).
Revelations 2 is my favorite Resident evil. I feel its the most approachable and has the best balance of good stuff vs bad. I am looking forward to revelations 3 and I feel raid mode in revelations 2 is so good that it could inspire a new spinoff within itself.
I would like it if capcom built a small linear location much like and as good as revelations 2 locations but allowed players to semi craft their own story. No mass effect or outerworlds level of choice at all, but just being able to choose the order of which I tackle one large interconnected but linear setting and whelther I do it alone, in 2 player couch co-op, or in 4 player wireless, online.
