It'll be interesting to see what will eventually sell more, RE8 or MHR (once the PC port launches). The hype for RE8 is real, to the point where I think it has a chance of being the best selling entry in the series. More than RE5's 13m copies...give or take.

Those sales numbers are based on including all of the ports and remasters that happened years later.
Unfair to compare RE8 to those numbers. Especially when games like RE4 have been ported to like 10 different platforms and some people (me) have bought it like 3 different times.
Based on the numbers I'm reading, RE5 was still the best selling in its original version, which sold about 9 million on X360,PS3 and PC. RE7 is in second with about 8.5 million.
I definitely think RE8 can beat both of those. It has so much hype behind it, and the marketing has been so genius so everyone knows about it.

I thought Devil may cry was already Castlevania with guns. I just hope it's better than RE VII. Is Chris our playable character this time? That last guy was some generic nobody.
@Zeldafan79 It is Ethan Winters. The guy from RE7. And Chris will be in the game as well. We could get him as playable character in a DLC or something.
Devil May Cry os a series I never played. It looked too edgy but I might try it. I have it on my modded PS3.

Oh well that sucks. They sure have been using chris alot in the marketing. That's why i wasn't sure. I bet he's playable at some point. That thing i said about Devil may cry isn't far from the truth. When the original came out reviews were comparing it to castlevania it had the gothic thing going and guns. It's a great series if you're into hack n slashers like God of war, Bayonetta or Ninja gaiden.

@Zeldafan79 Well this is because Chris will play a big role in the game or at least I hope. I think he is the one who kills Mia in the trailer (or at least something that looks like her I suppose because they can't just kill Mia like that) and he took their baby Rose.
Ethan is a blank slate for the series ... a REALLY blank slate I don't have problem with it. And I can't wait to see how they fit Umbrella into this!
As for hack and slash ... I really love God of War and Ninja Gaiden but I really hate Bayonetta So Devil May Cry might be ok with me
I didn't mind Ethan in RE7 .... They have to intro new characters sometimes! Now he's 'established', maybe they'll flesh him out more in this one, so you're all happier with him? I certainly don't care too much about Chris, personally. If they're bringing characters back, can we have Jill? & all the other girls?
I played the Mercenaries mode that's included in Resident Evil 8. Awful mode, slow-paced, can't do anything just run and shoot, and no feeling of accomplishment. It's a poor man's Raid mode(that's included in Revelations 1&2). And it can't even hold a candle to them. That mode had more content than this will ever have! One was exclusive to the 3DS! No excuse for this.
Then I played Resident Evil 6. The amount of stuff you can do in this game is insane. Slide, melee moves, melee finishers, DMC gun juggling, etc. I took the gameplay of RE6 for granted.
Playing on Xbox, but playing Village too. It's been fun!
I finished the castle and started with the doll "chapter", saved right there in the room with the doll, which I'm sure will do nothing when I go and disturb it.
It's getting kind out there for sure hah. Just how much punishment can Ethan handle? And what's in that medicine, that not only reattaches your body parts (I'm sure that's more of an Ethan-thing), but also glues your clothes back together?... I'm sure I'll find out eventually.
The way the game pretends to open up after the castle makes me think maybe they wanted to make this an "open world" type game, and let you choose your targets, but then decided it would be better to give you a set route.
Maybe but being an RE game with all it's doors requiring certain keys & everything, @Eel .... It makes sense that the Village is in the middle of the 4 outlying areas! I've done the doll bit & the watery area after that & might as well let you know it only gets weirder as it goes
That Mother Miranda didn't invest in any magical storage boxes so I unfortunately missed out on the free rifle (I didn't have enough room in my inventory with the bonus Samurai Edge gun, but you can still buy the rifle afterwards thankfully).
Sigh I guess I was left a bit frustrated by the fact I couldn't return to the castle to pick it up, because I actually dreamed about returning.
Cut to a long long dream of me running away from Lady Dimitrescu all over again. My brain rationalized that she was probably back to keep the castle from being too boring for people returning to it.
