Maybe Europe should just have waited to find out the outcome of the next German election after Hitler invaded Poland then - why take action when you can just wait a couple of years for another vote eh?

What's that supposed to be an analogy for?
A military invasion of your entire country would mean you have a permanent force that's violated everyone's rights. Obviously you're justified in fighting back in that situation.
But police brutality is nothing like that. It was a single police officer violated 1 person's rights. The most you can do in the short term is arrest that officer, which has already happened. After that, the only meaningful changes ARE long term policy changes. There's literally nothing else you can do.
I guess the Ahmaud Audrey and the Breonna Taylor shooting wasn't important enough for a tweet. Companies just love to capitalize on a situation.
It's really creeping me the hell out. Like why is every corporation in the world making statements on 1 single issue, when they say absolutely nothing about the thousands of other problems in the world.
It was a really messed up tragedy, no doubt about that. But Hong Kong is literally getting swallowed up by China as we speak. A country of 8 million people that's going to be effectively ethnic cleansed, and no-one says a word.

i) I do not have my finger on the pulse of US socio-political developments, but I don't think everyone is taking the recent episode in isolation. Isn't it a bit of a recurring thing? Only about a month ago a black jogger got murdered and it took two weeks for the local police to decide maybe they should arrest the shooters. And that is just the most recent example springing to mind. This 'Black Lives Matter' thing didn't start last week.
Oh, and that single police officer was being supported by at least 3 other cops while the man saying he couldn't breathe coincidentally expired in their custody.
ii) Personally I think you're putting too much faith in democracy. Long-term policy changes sound nice and idealistic, but seemingly in the real world, big decisions are made by pivotal people, and if there's enough heat going round, those pivotal people can find the sweat on the back of their necks starts to force them to change their mind on a few things.
@TheLightSpirit I'm as cynical as anyone, but isn't it just as simple as these companies scheduled some highly anticipated PR events and they now don't think this week is a good time to go ahead with those events so they're rescheduling, which needs publicising. They're not taking advantage of anything, they're just doing some obvious and understandable damage limitation.

The whole political furore around this issue is only very loosely connected to the actual facts.
75% of unarmed people who are killed by the US police are non-black. And I'm guessing you probably don't know a single name of any of those victims, because the media simply doesn't make anything out of it unless they're black.
It's also worth pointing out that only 4% of people killed by the US police are unarmed. The vast majority of people they kill are armed criminals.
If you don't know anything about the actual issue, but just get your information from social media or mainstream media, I imagine both of these statistics sound completely out-of-sync with the version of reality you're being fed.
Is anyone else subscribed to Playstation Now, what does everyone think of it? I've subscribed to play through all the god of war games. As it's cheaper than buying them, and I wasn't that fussed about owning them.
I've found it playable for the most part, but you do get occasional lag. The one game that I don't think works is King of Fighters XIII, the added lag really throws off my timing.
@Wargoose I used it when it first launched to play Uncharted (this was before the Nathan Drake Collection, I believe). It was... I mean, I got through the game, but the input delay was still noticeable. It's not the way I'd want to play through a game. Not to mention service flickers aren't uncommon where I live.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
I tried remote play via Vita for the first time. It was about what I expected, with some decent input lag and choppy frames, but my internet is pretty lame in general. It was cool seeing resident evil 3 on the Vita though. I imagine it's useful for some types of games, but not all. Especially ones that require quick action
@Dezzy I don't want to derail here so will try not to dwell, but my point was primarily addressing your apparent assertion that the protests are based on one incident. But while we're on the figures... the 2016 census figures (via Wikipedia) suggest only 12.7% of the US population is black. So the 25% you quote is still significantly disproportionate. Significant enough to justify maintaining an ongoing social campaign? Some people seem to think so, and I'm not about to disrespect them or the victims by implying that the facts are being twisted, not based on those numbers.
@gcunit yes it is a recurring thing, quite frequent actually. I won't go too far down the rabbit hole but police in the US have been doing things like this, and getting away with it, for decades.
@Wargoose really depends on where you are. For me Now is almost indistinguishable from a regular game but that's largely due to where I'm located. It's a great service in my case but definitely not for everyone.
@Dezzy I was reading an article a while back that said the amount of people killed by law enforcement is essentially unknown. The Washington Post only takes into account the availabile data on people shot. Many die because of beatings, shocks by tasers, vehicular accidents/manslaught, etc... African- American also only make up 12-14% of the US population as well.
Regardless, getting a few bad actors behind bars, while necessary, seems kinda beside the point. There is clear data that shows the US has the highest per capita prison rate in the world. African- American and Latino children are more likely to have their father in jail. Some states show a black man is 5 times as likely to be incarcerated compared to a white man. A lot of these people are from families which generation after generation were unable to build up equity or even post Civil Rights, struggled to acquire property and land.
Even though many blacks have been able to move up the ladder, too many are left out of the conversation to fend for themselves. I see a lot of people who see this as a time to discuss these issues and address underlying socioeconomic concerns.
I’m with you though on wanting to see some policy changes that open up new opportunities, so all this isn’t all for naught.
I hope Sony unveils a fresh new IP. If all I see in the upcoming presentation are Demon Souls Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, and a new Ratchet & Clank...I'll be disappointed. I would have no qualms about waiting for each of those to be available for "free" as a part of PS+ down the road.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,537 games (as of December 22nd, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

Yes, it's disproportionate to the population demographics. But then again 95% of people killed by the police are men, whilst men are only 50% of the population, so that's obviously not a very good way of judging it.
It depends what metric you use to determine what the rate should be. The reason they kill men more than women is obviously just because men commit more crime across the board, and therefore have a lot more interactions with the police. It's the same reason they don't kill many old people, of any race.
So it depends what metric you use to decide that the "correct" rate should be. Some metrics will suggest there is a racial bias in the police (e.g drug usage), other metrics will suggest there is not (e.g homicide).
I have question about 3rd party games on Sony machines.
Are there any 3rd party kids friendly games usually released from first launching of PS machines ?
I expect at least 1 or 2 kids friendly games from PS5 for first launch.
@Dezzy Realistically, Sony delayed this event because they knew they weren't going to get as much attention atm with America burning itself to the ground.
In this case, they also get an easy PR win by virtue signaling on social media.
Win/Win
Snide, cynical, and subtle. You remain my hero. Never change!
@Dezzy Also agree about politics being more or less a religion. It's never about actual problem solving. Or actual issues. It's about cheering for Team Blue and Team Red - the Chosen Savior. "MY team must always win! I support whatever issues MY team supports...what's on this year's list? That's what I'm all about!"
Team Red, Team Blue, doesn't matter, they're really just really terrible thin disguises worn by Team Purple, and they want all the Pokemon. Assuming Pokemon are legal tender.
And a huge huge out-of-nowhere shout-out to @Ryu_Niiyama across many many topics and many many conversations we never got time to circle back around to over the years, as one of the very few people who "gets it" at a very deep and detailed level. Snippets of various of those conversations recurringly pop into my head. Can't always agree on all topics, but on so many nobody else ever seems to see, you do (regardless of the eye count.) It's Team Indol for us I think......
@NEStalgia I get a little nervous when I'm summoned (also I still have notifications turned off. I only saw your post cuz I popped in here for a moment). Honestly I'm just hanging around the light topics for now. As an African American woman in the US (put so nobody thinks I moved), I'm tired of having the same conversations and just the ennui is a bit much atm.
Besides, I just wrapped up the very informative American Astronomical Society Meeting and I'd rather focus on all the current and future research that has nothing to do with Earth currently. (I'm not ignoring the long standing issues (cuz this isn't new which is the reason for the protests) but I'm not going to talk about them here, my family and friends are dialoging about this enough as is. Gaming is my happy place...mostly.)
Also you know my policy NES, so long as an argument (in the logical sense of the word, and not the shouting matches that is the modern interpretation) attempts to be well reasoned I try to meet folks half way. Doesn't always work in my favor and I'm sure it's going to give me high blood pressure one day, but I try.
Positive Ki to you all
Edit: I FINALLY took spiderman out of the shrink wrap. I think I was waiting until I got my tv back but at this point I said bump it. I still like the swinging in spidey 2 better but this is fun.
