Buy 10 cylinders (common ones) and just salvage in city near market. If you perfect pressing YXA every time it could be enough. Sometimes you find them in chests, sometimes enemies drops them. And I’m not 100% but you can get them outside chests too.

@Ralizah I hate blindly following way points around so the crappy map is kind of a good thing when I look at it like that. Of course, that's just me being an optimist but I'll take what I can get in life haha.

I got all the materials for that crane, and did a crap load to get the quest done... but then I ran into a roadblock defeating the "Infallanle Tirkin" and "Resourceful Tirkin" at the giant tree close to Torigoth. I'm 10 levels higher now though so I should probably go back and finish that.

That quest kind of pissed me off though because I went and got all the materials and then he needed more and then one of the materials you had to go get from a Nopon, and then when you get to the Nopon you had to trade for it, and if you didn't have the right materials to trade for it you had to buy them... I'm like give me a break already...

When it clicks, it clicks. When I first played Xenoblade X (a far more complex game than XC2 is) I hadn't the slightest clue what I was doing, and I had never played one of the Xeno games before. But half the fun was figuring it all out. With all the games that are released nowadays so very few of them just throw you in the deep end and say have at it. Xenoblade X didn't just throw you in the deep end, it drug you out to the middle of the ocean and tied a 900 pound anchor around your neck and threw off the highest plank. And made no apologies for it... and it was honestly one of the most refreshing feelings I have experienced in as long as I can remember.

Once you've played a Xeno game, I think it makes it a lot easier to play the rest. So I think it's a great investment that you're getting into this game, because you'll be well prepared to play the others or any future games they make. And it's a good one to get into- certainly the most newcomer friendly of the series to date.

@kyleforrester87 I guess you're right: when I'm out exploring, I play it like Breath of the Wild in the sense that I keep the mini-map off the screen and try to explore environments naturalistically as much as possible. This strategy doesn't work quite as completely in this game, but it still keeps me centered in environments and not some overwhelming map.

@JaxonH Yeah, the fetch quests in this game are really elaborate, for whatever reason. With that said, it costs nothing to root around for muscle branches, so it didn't take me long to find them all. I don't really want to blow a ton of money on scavenging materials when I don't even know if I'll find what I'm looking for, though.

I've mostly enjoyed what I've played of XCX, but I'm glad the lack of tutorials and overwhelming complexity were ditched in this game. XCX often felt more like an ordeal than a piece of entertainment. I guess I can kind of see the appeal in that, but it's bad when you just want to sit down and play a fun game. There's like 100 different systems you have to constantly keep in mind to play the game optimally, not to mention constantly dwindling TP, skell fuel, etc. It's stressful.

With that said, it's a shame Xenoblade 2 ditched the wonderful kineticism of the platforming and world exploration. There was something quite liberating about sprinting and jumping around that hostile alien world.

As I said, a game of highs and lows.

@CroRock Thanks. I might try that. The fetch quests are actually bearable in this game, so I'm trying to clean them up as I go along.

What's poppi's favorite food in the STAPLE FOODS category to unlock the skill Superstrength?

@JaxonH I used Argentum noodle soup which can be bought at the trade guild, but you might be able to use any vendor with the bread floating over them.

EDIT: Just tried another bread vendor item, and i'm unsure if it worked or not.

I got some Argentum Noodle Soup and tried but it didn't show a count towards the four needed. I think it's because that third ring and tear of the affinity tree is not yet unlocked and until it is my efforts are useless.

Which means I need to build up more trust before I can start working on it. But I bought five of those soups for when I do so I can just throw them in the pouch and be done with it.

@JaxonH Yeah third rings is needed. They might count as soon as the third ring is unlocked. You may have noticed this by now, but pouch items will restock themselves automatically when they run out.

I had one heck of a time finding out where I had to go next in chapter 3. The compass in this game is no help whatsoever sometimes.

So, two rare core crystals have unlocked common blades for me, but one of the last common core crystals I used just unlocked a rare blade. Go figure.

I guess it’s shipyard part of chapter 3. I was lost too and wondering around 30 minutes before I gave up and search on YouTube. Map system really is a bit confusing at times. That being said, they took too serious exploration part of the game lol

Anyone knows if I can purchase Overdrive Protocol items later in game? I wasted one on common Blade early in the game. Didn’t know they are so hard to find rare items. Actually I didn’t know anything about transferring Blades between Drivers at time I used it. 😔

What is an "aqua break" and, I assume, other elemental breaks exist too? Is that just where an art has been used that the enemy has a direct weakness too? And I can lead on from this with a topple art as normal?

I have to be honest I've not been able to get beyond topple. I think I need to get more blades decoded. I'm only using 2 per character.

Also am I write to assume you only get 4 total arts per blade - and you can have any 3 of those equipped at once? A guide I read made it sound like there was 8 total available.

@Ralizah I was pretty lost on the same bit, I think. Once I stopped trying to follow the compass and actually looked at the lay of the land it was easy enough to progress.

Game sold just about 100,000 in Japan first week:
https://gematsu.com/2017/12/media-create-sales-11-27-17-12-3-17

That is more than either of the previous games did. But still fairly low compared to how some JRPGs do in Japan. Of course if the install base continues to grow in Japan, it might have a long tail to the distribution.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Nekoo77 You can use them to bond one Blade to another Driver than the one that first resonated with its Core Crystal. Wasted all of mine on some random Blades this morning, believing it to be more of a function and not an item.
