The demo won’t have cross save because the demo doesn’t start you out at the beginning of the game. As with all previous MH demos, they will provide 3 quests (easy, medium, hard) to give players a taste of what the combat and core loop is all about. It’s more just to let people see what it’s like. The cross save is usually seen in JRPGs, whose demos just let you play the beginning up to a point, so you don’t have to repeat the same stuff.

Finished the post game story in DQXIS. Pretty much done with the game now, remaining stuff seem to mostly be either extremely RNG based or require way too much grinding. Overall an absolutely fantastic game though, think I'd put it around 3rd regarding 2019 games (1st was Astral Chain, 2nd was FE Three Houses). Crazy how all this started with the Tockles spirit in Smash Ultimate being a reward for playing the demo or full game, that spirit literally was the reason I originally checked out the demo.
@JaxonH The easiest way to maximize people's attention for MH Rise would be the DQXIS approach. Large Direct presence, announce a Monster Hunter fighter for Smash and have an exclusive spirit as a reward for playing the demo or full game (gets added to the DLC spirits after some time).
@rallydefault i have been telling everyone here and in a lot of place that Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is the Holiday title of 2021 for Switch and to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the franchise, and mark my words, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is gonna be another GOTY for Nintendo.
@Grumblevolcano
If they don’t announce Monster Hunter for Smash and a new special edition console (both a v2 Switch and a special edition Switch Lite), Idk what’s wrong with them.
@gcunit
True, but MH World’s demo did wonders for getting new players hyped. It was the multiple demos leading up to launch that really helped the game blow up. Well, that and the raving reviews. But I have faith the MH Rise demo will do the same. The movement and combat will be a lot more fluid in MH Rise than in pre-World titles, and the wirebug looks like crazy fun anyone can get on board with. If they add button combo tutorials that would go a long ways to helping new players- that and just learning you need to sheath your weapon in between attacks (most games don’t revolved around such a mechanic, so many new players run around with their weapon drawn which kills their mobility, then they say it feels sluggish- so just understanding that much alone can go a long ways toward new players “getting it”

@JaxonH To be fair, there's still a very real chance that a Switch revision was planned and delayed given their current struggles to even meet the market demand for base + lite versions.

Could be. But, historically speaking, every single Monster Hunter on Nintendo platforms has received a special edition console, with the exception of Tri on the Wii, but even that saw a special edition Classic Controller Pro. And World saw a special edition PS4 Pro. So MH3U, MH4U, MH Gen, MHGU and MH World all got limited edition hardware. It would be strange to not take advantage of the opportunity to sell a limited edition Switch (even MHGU got a special Switch in Japan- it was lame, but it was a thing).
This is a title that can draw in people who may not otherwise have bought a Switch. And those are the people they should be focused on selling Switches too. Everyone else will eventually buy one anyways. But the opportunity to draw in players they may never otherwise convince to jump in is a one time thing. They get one shot at it. And a special edition Switch while the iron is hot and the game is full exclusive to Switch, is a surefire way to convince people to bite the bullet.
Of course, I care for more selfish reasons. I just need me a Monster Hunter Rise themed Switch. My Dragon Quest XI S Switch has served me well, but I soooooo need a Monster Hunter upgrade!

@Grumblevolcano Tell me, what level were you when you beat Calasmos? Surely above LV55 at the very least!
@JaxonH If they were making a Monster Hunter-themed Switch livery, surely they would have announced it by now? The release of the game is two months away, so it would be a very tight squeeze for some people.
People don’t “wonder”. We know exactly why people use emulators. And it’s almost always one of three reasons.
1 Selfish greed, where thieves self-justify their wrongdoing so they don’t have to pay 2 Convenience. Someone owns the game on the most current platform it’s sold on, but want the convenience of playing on a platform it’s not sold on. But they’ve bought the most recent iteration and therefore have done as much as they can to properly support the game. 3 Necessity. Some games simply aren’t sold on any platform. English translated Fire Emblems are a good example (though now that the original has been translated, anyone currently emulating the game who’s not a thief will have bought it for $4.99)
I would add:
4) People who want to play old games with better visuals. Plenty of emulators offer visual upgrades that can be massively transformative. The visual bump from playing something like Skyward Sword in 1080p rather than 480p is massive.
Then you have some emulators that can improve framerate (Breath of the Wild runs at 60fps in CEMU) and plenty of examples of custom-made texture packs that improve old games.
Until they released Xenoblade Definitive Edition, the best way to play that game was with the HD texture pack on Dolphin.
@theJGG My characters were on average level 70, completed 87/89 quests (1 of the 87 I completed was only possible to complete after defeating Calasmos) and solved the problems associated with pink dots on the maps (quests that aren't listed as quests). So the key thing is put the story content (the Calasmos battle) on hold until you've done most of the side content.
@JaxonH I'm still leaning towards a new Switch revision launching alongside MH Rise so a limited edition MH Switch in that outcome would act more like the limited edition New 3DS XL for MH4U. If it is like that there'll be a reveal for the new Switch revision this month (Nintendo announces hardware revisions around 2 months before launch).
@Dezzy
Ya, I tried to cover that with 2 playing on platforms it’s not sold on. But agreed.
@WaveWitch
I own the Hori Pro V Hayabusa arcade stick (not the Street Fighter edition, but the original red design one, same model though) and can speak to its excellence. It’s large and hefty enough that it sits on your lap without moving. The smaller, more lightweight arcade sticks tend to move around when you sit them in your lap. Something to consider.
It’s a really nice stick.
