@NEStalgia "girls dont play video games" was a pretty common thought especially when I was growing up, my father subscribed to that nonsense but he was outnumbered. My mom is a techie and my older siblings have such an age gap it was never a big deal at home, but I caught some grief at school about it. While my brother never dealt with that. Blue toy, Pink toy is very much alive and well sadly and that is why there is such a push for getting women into games and tech. The purpose isn't to exclude males, but to give females a space to cultivate interest where socialization has failed us. We have the potential to like tcch and games as much as dudes, but we are often socialized not to and that is a heck of a wall to break through. A cousin of mine that went into the military discovered a love for tech and machinery when she had been taught it wasn't "feminine" which drives me nuts because social femininity/masculinity skews the actual definition of femininity/masculinity. (and I had to listen to her complain to me when I wanted to play games growing up so VINDICATION!) It doesn't help that many games are made with the male gaze and mindset in mind. (I happen to like fantasy and superheroes so I usually squeak by on the mainstream games. However I've found my reason for liking a game even if it is popular is usually not in line with the average joe mcman.)

I've not met a woman yet in my age group that didn't get hit with the blue toy pink toy thing growing up so I'm always amazed when I hear men (this isn't a knock against guys its just a different perspective and it is interesting) that go, "nobody did that when I was a kid. Girls just weren't interested". I'm sure some female out there had honest to goodness gender neutral (within reason, obviously anything with reproductive health and how to deal with society outside your home would have to be geared towards the sex of the child) parents, but I've not met her yet.

I feel in some ways gender roles are being reinforced more (in the name of being progressive no less) than they were in say the late 90s and early 2000s so I do wonder what kids born in the 2000s are dealing with as they grow up. I just wanna play games... I just want other people to play games...and I want us to not be at each other's throats and gate keep about it. I know, too much. I have no such faith in humanity, but it is a nice dream to have.

As for the TV rots your brain...My folks were kinda like that. I was raised with curfews and restrictions on what I watched. Which quickly shaped what I liked. So as an adult I don't like shows like south park or the simpsons (I had to sneak beavis and butthead for crying out loud...although I found it droll and stopped watching after like 3eps) interesting, but PBS was my favorite station (wishbone ftw.) Reading was always my foundation and what I spend the majority of my time doing (even with gaming) if I'm not doing one of my more physical hobbies or at work even now. (as i am right now!...yay)

@YummyHappyPills The only way I see it being today is if it's tomorrow for Europe/Japan but today for NA as announcements do sometimes happen around 2-3am UK time.

@Ryu_Niiyama Even if you had gender neutral or understanding parents growing up, your friends' parents probably weren't. I hated Barbies with a passion and loved Hot Wheels. The only Hot Wheels I got were ones that my parents bought for me or that I saved up for myself, and I ended up with a shedload of Barbies because guess what? I had a birthday every year and my friends' parents would insist on getting me Barbies. At my (good) babysitter though, the two other girls played Barbies and dolls all the time while the one boy played video games and I either watched him (if it was single player - it was his console and game after all) or played with him if it was two player. Only if he wasn't there was I dragged practically kicking and screaming into playing Barbies with the other two girls. But most of the adults who ran my life were pretty supportive of me as a tomboy - now if I had just said I was a boy, which was pretty much unheard of in the mid-90s, especially for a kid - I'm not so sure. But I never felt that way anyway. (Though I did have a sense from a very young age that the world was tipped in boys' favor and being a girl was unfair... I was a feminist from the age of two or three I guess! Lol!) I do definitely think that there is a lot more gender reinforcement being done in the 2010s than there was in the 90s... Toys like GoldieBlox basically say you have to be a girl to play with them, when when I was growing up boys and girls alike played with Lego. That's what I like about Labo, it's so gender-neutral. I don't see why girls need a specific toy to get them into STEAM. Those toys should work for all genders. That's just one example, but I see that kind of marketing everywhere nowadays.

I was allowed to watch pretty much whatever I wanted on TV, so I grew up liking the Simpsons (but stopped watching it right around season 11 or so, which is typically when purists say it got "bad). I never did get into South Park but I bought the recent game hoping to see if I could change that. Haven't fired it up yet. My boyfriend really likes South Park. Never saw the point of Beavis and Butthead so I was never tempted to watch that as a kid. I loved PBS. Wishbone, Arthur, and Magic Schoolbus were my jam. I also watched a lot of Nickelodeon, not so much Disney Channel (until I got a little older and they started putting out the DCOMs every month).

Funny, when i was 5th - 6th Grade Primary School (Year 1994 - 1995), i was obsessed with Sailor Moon and Candy Candy looking. I realized that i had a Feminine side inside my body even though i am a Male. Also, i had ever jealous with one of my classmate (a girl) that has better hand drawing than me (She could draw better Bishoujo girls than me at that time).

When i grow up, i have an interest with America's Next Top Model after watched from V Channel (Cycle 7 , 8 & 9 was my first time i watched that show) & i still watched their show until the latest cycle 24.

Psst... at Random time, i had ever pretend to walk like a model in front of mirror, with elegant pose like Female models, i was mimicking from America's Next Top Model. Also, i had ever posing with my Boxing gloves in front of mirror and try to do Jab & Hook like a real Boxer.

Well, i have Both interest with Masculine & Feminine things. For Masculine, i really Love Boxing, Six pack guys, Bodybuilder. And for Feminine side, i'm interested with High Fashion clothes, Editorial & Commercial looking models, Cooking world, Kawaii (Cute) stuffs.

That naruto ranking is impressive. I only bought ninja storm 2. If it does well can't see how ninja storm 4 doesn't get a port.

Nintendo of Europe just sent out a survery about when you bought Switch, why you bought it, what you play on it, what games you know about that are upcoming like Dark Souls, Crash etc. how you heard about Labo, why you did/didn't buy it, what you personally do with it, interest in each Toy-Con, Garage, concerns with the product, if it influenced you to buy the system, rating the games you have played already...

It was very in-depth.

Must be nice getting surveys, because us Americans got nothing so far.

@EvilLucario Not true, I've gotten almost that exact survey twice now for my Switch here in NA. Once was for... Mario and Rabbids I believe? The second and more recent time was for Bayonetta 2. All the early questions are just stock that they use on each one.

@Anti-Matter Most people have both a masculine and feminine side. You are just more open about it than most! Lol!

@RR529 For the love of all that is holy, please don't post another eshop chart without capitalising the 't' at the start of the Legend of Zelda. Every time I see it in its current form I get one step closer to committing an unspeakable act of horrific violence.

@link3710 So I went back to my Email and found a survey regarding Rocket League. Nothing else though. Hm...

@EvilLucario Rocket League! That's what it was, not Mario and Rabbids, whoops? It might only show up if you've hit the redeem rewards thing? I still have to do that for a number of games, which might be why I don't have any others, don't know about you?
