@DarthNocturnal Are there games that use the normal L/R and ZL/ZR buttons in single Joy-Con mode? In that case, yeah you could assign two of the taunts to those and then the third taunt to the other face button since there's usually two of those assigned to jump.
@DarthNocturnal They could, yeah. Using the default Smash controls they've been using since Melee (where they have jump on BOTH Y and X), they wouldn't have room for taunts. Replacing either Y or X for taunt or grab would fit in. Clicking the L-stick for anything would be a BAD idea.

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
Not to mention, I don't know anyone who'd buy a system for a single game.
I actually know someone who ONLY buys Nintendo consoles to play Smash. That's all he plays on it. Ever.
Also know a few people like that with Pokemon.
So they're definitely out there, and not rare (I'm not exactly a social butterfly in my day to day life, so it's not like I meet a bunch of different people every year).
I’d like to add Zelda and streetfighter to that list.
Well figures there is. Still, most of the people I know who want a Switch and don't have one are planning on getting some combination of SMO/BOTW/XC2/M&R/Splatoon/Arms, but just don't feel like that subset of games is enough yet. Smash and Animal Crossing are the major reasons for holdouts among my friends at least.
@NEStalgia I didn't stay with that babysitter for very long. I must have told my mom that she treated boys and girls differently because by the time I was in kindergarten I had a much nicer babysitter who I stayed with until I was too old to need one.
I wasn't allowed video games at home though, not because they rotted your brain but because my mother didn't see the point. She didn't like the NES/SNES because they weren't portable and she didn't like the Game Boy because she thought it went through too many batteries, and she didn't like ANY of them because the games came on expensive cartridges you had to buy separately and only get one game at a time. So no matter how much I begged a pleaded video games were a no go in my house. Very sadly, she passed away when I was ten. Naturally people showered me with presents and money as condolence gifts and I used all the money to buy a Game Boy Pocket with Pokemon Blue! I'm such a turd! But honestly that copy of Pokemon got me through a really tough time in my life and I still love the series to this day, probably partially because of that.
I feel like, for Smash to really drive system sales, it needs something new to come to the series, something significant. Between the 3DS and the Wii U, people who are drawn to Smash have had ample opportunity to play it in HD, to play it on the go. How is Smash Switch going to bring a new proposition?
Sometimes it’s just about the right game on the right system at the right time. & being well marketed.
Like Tetris on the GameBoy. The game was hardly new (or unpopular) before 1989 but it caught light in a big way when all of the planets aligned just right.
Smash on Switch will have the ability to play with others anywhere, anytime, with sideways Joycon.
That's the significant X factor.
Smash is already hugely popular. You make a brand new entry, on any system, and it's going to shift mega units. You make a brand new HD portable entry? And console entry? In one? With the ability to play the game with anyone in tabletop mode with the default controllers attached to the system? Shoot...

The weirdest thing happened to me this morning. I was playing Mario Odyssey and randomly a bunch of the controls were jumbled up. Jump and Throw where reversed, the Plus button sometimes threw Cappy and sometimes jumped, the home button paused the game, it was a mess. Thankfully the Power button worked and that fixed it... but I think my Switch is cursed now.
Just a geek that likes video games, and spends to much time playing Smash Bros. and Fortnite.

While DK still rules the roost, Naruto & South Park both still continue their steady climb (at 2 & 6, respectively). Not only that, but even one of the Naruto standalone releases climbed onto the chart.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@YummyHappyPills, That's nothing. In the Japanese charts the trilogy isn't anywhere to be seen, but UNS3 is number 3 (last I checked).
BTW, how is South Park doing in the UK? I've heard things about it kinda flopping in general, but hopefully it looks like it's US performance "may" save it (makes since given it's an American series, and may not resonate elsewhere).
Have to give NoA credit, they actually managed to put up all of the major games launching this month as well as most of the high profile indies listed in the coming soon section.
@RR529 For a while it looked like it was doing better than the US version and made it up to #7 while in the US Eshop it was at #8. Currently South Park is at #7 in the UK.
@RR529 Glad to see South Park steadily climbing the ranks. Maybe we'll get the first game. Hell, I'll settle for download only of it. Also love seeing Stardew so high day after day, even if it slipped today. Isn't it the indie closest to crossing 1m sales?
@IceClimbers I love the Coming Soon section but it often prompts me to check if a physical version is coming out instead. As a result I have 17 titles preordered for my Switch before the end of 2018. Not too much of what I've wanted has been digital-only, or better served getting digital (Mega Man, I'm looking at you). It's such a weird turnaround from the Wii U that I'm in a state of shock, I think. By the end of the year, the only (physical) collection I have that will be bigger than my Switch one will be my Wii one, and I've been collecting for that for over a decade. By this time next year, who knows?!
@Mrtoad, @TheLobster, @YummyHappyPills, well I guess that's pretty good for South Park. Let's hope that it holds up long enough for Ubisoft to be satisfied.
I'm really impressed with Naruto's placement though. I'm not a huge fan of the series (I've watched it here & there), but that Trilogy looks pretty awesome.

By the way, if you all remember a few days ago when I posted my list of games from my backlog that I was wondering which to play next, Golf Story won. I'm not sure why I stopped playing Golf Story to begin with but I had only logged one hour of it previously. I think I got it at about the same time as Stardew and frankly Stardew won. (I actually went on a pretty long couple of flights and had a big hotel stay last fall where all I did was play Stardew in my down time.) But now that I'm back at it I can't believe I didn't alternate the two. Golf Story is amazing. I can see why it's Furukawa's favorite.
@TheLobster
Golf Story is an awesome game. Truly a fun gameplay loop they came up with. The humor is also quirky with some honest laugh-out-loud moments, even though I'm American and I feel like some of the jokes/specific language goes over my head.
