Eh. I'm skeptical. I don't feel like that data takes everything into account. For example, how many of those were actually a "Mini Direct - Nintendo Direct' pattern, and not some other kind of Direct, like a Nintendo Direct for a specific franchise?
Just a quick glance at the actual Nintendo Directs cited shows that even the first instance does not equate to what we are seeing now. The first Nintendo Direct Mini there listed was for a specific title, Brain Age: Concentration Training. Whereas the following "full" Nintendo Direct, was a full Nintendo Direct for a specific title, as well - Dragon Quest X. Not to mention that this all happened just a month or so after an E3 Direct.
In comparison to our current instance, that does not line up. The Nintendo Direct Mini we saw was a general Nintendo Direct Mini. It was a general presentation. It may have been small, but it still can stand on its own. A skim through the list only really shows to me one instance that really seems to be a close instance of two Nintendo Directs that were not toward a specific title, and not for a specific region (another factor that needs to be taken into account), and that was July 18, 2013 to August 7, 2013. Interestingly enough that is a perfect instance of a Nintendo Direct Mini followed by a full Nintendo Direct, both general, and both not region-specific. However, as I said, it seems to be the only of its type. There could be other instances, as I was just skimming, but it clearly is not anywhere near as common as the image's data shows. The image's data conflates general Nintendo Directs with specific Nintendo Directs. They are two very different kind of presentations, they function differently.
It could be that Nintendo DOES come out with a full Nintendo Direct soon. However, there isn't much if anything actually pointing toward a pattern of this happening. A specific Nintendo Direct toward a game like Fire Emblem Switch is much more likely than a general Nintendo Direct. As I said, it could happen, but... People really need to be careful, and need to look more closely at data before making any such major inferences like this.
This "new play" thing - any chance it's going to be that Ubisoft Starlink thingy? It's basically another toys-based video game, which is a genre I will never get on board with but I appreciate there is a huge market for.
@Krull I doubt that for two reasons:
1. Starlink is multiplatform so Nintendo probably wouldn't be announcing anything to do with it themselves. Ubisoft will probably handle any announcements to do with that game.
2. The wording of Nintendo's post suggests it will be something new that we haven't seen before.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
I know this will raise some speculation, but for some reason if you go to Dragon Ball FighterZ official website, you'll see in a platforms list a "console" label under PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Could it be that Nintendo Switch is finally getting this game?
Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

I was skeptical at first, but that really does seem to be a placeholder for an additional console. Given the only choices at this point are Switch, Vita and 3DS, I think it's a pretty good sign we'll see it actually.
Wouldn't Switch technically be under console too if it was coming as it's a hybrid rather than just a handheld. I think if anything this suggests a Vita port.
So I don't know if it's a good thing or what but I went and got myself hooked on Assassin's Creed Origins and while I am enjoying it on PS4 I can't help but wish it was on the Switch. I don't know why but since starting Skyrim on Switch, I feel that these big open world games like ACO is better suited on the Switch at least for me. Especially in portable mobile when the main TV is in use.

@Tasuki The Switch has ruined home consoles for a lot of people, including me. It's hard to go back to TV-tethered games after experiencing that wonderful versatility.
With that said, AC: Origins seems to be all about pushing the technical limits of the HD twins, so I doubt we'll see a Switch version.

@Ralizah Don't get me wrong I enjoy playing games on the TV in fact it's my preferred method, but since I have my PS4 hooked up to the main TV as that one is 55 inch I feel guilty playing a game like ACO, or Skyrim or even Mario Odyssey for hours on end as others in my house also would like to watch or play other games. Games like ACO, Skyrim and Mario Odyssey is hard just for me to play for say a few minutes and turn it off as I like to just take my time and explore.
That's one reason I am enjoying to Switch and quite frankly have been using it alot. When my son is using the main TV for example to play Shadows of War on PS4 I can get some time in on Mario Odyssey without feeling guilty of hogging the tv if that makes sense.

The rumour im seeing is called Pixelbits, kindalike LEGO for Ninty characters that can be scanned into games using the IR Camera.
And actually given they had a lego clone a long time ago...

@Ralizah Well like most Ubi/EA/Activision/etc games, the eye candy IS the game, or at least the sense of immersion is. There's no meaningful gameplay system to make it worthwhile if you can't have that experience. It's not entirely a wrong way to play....but it does make it disposable (AC is one of the few such series I really am addicted to....I do enjoy the immersion in these digestible historical locales.) Switch just benefits so much more from games with deep gameplay (or RPGs that are so long that nibbling away at them is a huge plus.)
Actually I don't always agree that "design the gameplay and build a world around it" is essentially the only way to do it. It makes a great game, but "design an immersive experience" is also, IMO, rewarding entertainment. If I had to pick just one I'd go the Nintendo way (and the West would go the Ubi way), but I think both can be equally enjoyable.
@Tasuki I couldn't even take the GamePad into the bathroom right next to the game room where the Wii U was located, which made Off-TV play pretty pointless unless you had a very particular set-up in your house! Knowing that their struggles with the Wii U helped when creating the Switch, though, I'm more inclined to be kind toward that poor, failed console. It provided me with some fun memories and, despite its issues, I think it was a unique and likeable piece of hardware.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE That chart tells me that 15% of German gamers have awful taste, but the rest are pretty good.
I don't know what seems stranger, that CODWWII is the #2 seller in Germany, or that it's for sale in Germany at all. I remember when such things were contraband there.
