Topic: The Nintendo Switch Thread

Looks like Bethesda are donating a custom Skyrim Switch on Games Done Quick right now for about another 1 hour 30. That is pretty cool also kinda says how Bethesda's, hopefully, is thinking of the future support for the system.

Technical question, perhaps it has been answered before.

My dad has always warned about leaving things like phones and camera batteries charging all of the time, saying that it will ruin the battery. Knowing that, should I be disconnecting my Switch from the dock when not in use, or is it fine? I really don't want to mess up my battery.

@Harmonie I've been thinking the same thing, I'm used to leaving my consoles plugged in but if the battery makes me worried. I really don't won't to ruin it!

Surely it would be okay though, Nintendo must know that people will leave it in the dock...

I don't know, I just unplug it when I don't use it.

@Harmonie @Kimyonaakuma Modern day hardware is built with that knowledge in mind. They shouldn't fully charge the system by default (even if your device says it's fully charged). Likewise, they turn themselves off whenever their battery gets low, but there's always a bit of charge left. It's true that you shouldn't completely drain a battery, nor store a battery at full charge, but you shouldn't have to worry about that when using your phone, or Switch, software takes care of that.

Just spotted Brawl on the Eshop. It's like a dark Bomberman. It looks like it could be really good but sadly it received mixed reviews on PS4. Anyway, it'll cost £8.99 and it arrives on the 19th.

I'm curious if Nintendo will make anything available after the Direct, if indeed there is one on the 11th. I'm already planning to buy NBA Playgrounds on Monday and The Escapists 2 on the 11th. I'm also interested in Of Mice and Sand Revised and Furi. Anything from Nintendo on top and that's a flaming expensive week,especially for the middle of January.

My habit is like this about Nintendo Switch.
I treat my Switch more like 3DS.
I plug in the cable if the Battery was very Low, charged directly on the console, not from the dock because charged directly will gain the % faster than being in dock.

Nintendo hasn't announced anything yet about incoming Directs, so no 11.1?

@Eagle9 Its typically announced in all regions at once. Given its currently 11am in the UK...NoA isnt even up yet.

@Eagle9 From what I remember it's announced on Twitter two to three days in advance, sometime in the afternoon UK time.

But outside of that...yeah cant say much.

There is a thread on Reddit that is predicting the time it will be announced. Apparently, the Directs are announced between 2 to 3 days roughly prior to the Direct at 7 am PST. 5 out of 8 were announced at 7 am PST last year, whether that means anything or not remains to be seen.

Let's compare a console for $300 to a peripheral to a console.

One purchase, versus one purchase, and an additional purchase with exclusive games.

Makes sense.

I mean yes, it is too early. At the same time, can't say it will flop because the Kinect did. What kind of comparison is that? That's like saying PSVR will flop because EyeToy flopped. Apples and oranges.

Still, nice to see the goalpost moving will never cease.

That is one of the worst articles I've ever read. Written by the same guy who said after the Switch reveal.

@YummyHappyPills Yeah I have been seeing that from PlayStation, Xbox and PC fanboys across the internet. The one they are using right now is that the Switch has only a tiny install base compared to "console X" as a backup to their arguments.
