Knights & Castles has released on the Eshop and unbelievably they're asking for £26.99 for it. It looks like an Angry Birds clone crossed with tower defense. It's also on Android/iOS but it's called Crazy Chicken Strikes Back and costs only £3.59.So of course it should cost £23.40 more on Switch. Greedy buggers.
Since the PS4 has more of less locked the generation down for sales, they are used to getting everything on their system of choice. Now Nintendo has come along with a fast selling system and a big exclusive games d*** just slapping them in the face and now they are freaking out.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations

@SLIGEACH_EIRE There's so much wrong with that article, banking on old convoluted tech talking points. It has the central assumption that Kinekt failed because it didn't have AAA third party games, rather than because it was a me-too gimmick to bank on the already fading fad of Wii's gimmick, and didn't just fail but was the cause of an active revolt against the brand when it was a required accessory for X1. Similarly the article seems to consider the Wii a failure due to the lack of third party and faded interest, not considering it wasn't aimed at gamers at all, while Switch is selling to the gamer market, and ignores that if Switch "fails" like Wii, it would be a tremendous over the top success Sony would drool over, and the article even notes that the console might be a huge success despite it. "This product might be a tremendous success, but it also might not be because other products entirely unrelated weren't." Silly article is silly.
@YummyHappyPills It's not even goalpost moving. It's just tech writers trying to find SOMETHING to stir controversy with. I mean even WiiU was never held in such low regard to compare it to Kinect as a sales estimate. "This successful console might be as successful as Nintendo's old successful console we'll consider a failure because it lost momentum after shattering all sales records, and we'll compare it to the camera accessory of the XBox because both didn't have EA games so we'll presume that's why the one failed rather than because it was an expensive unwanted accessory too late on the market that had no worthwhile games from ANY party" isn't goalpost moving. It's just a bad joke. PS4 Camera would be even lower on that list were it not used for PSVR.
@YummyHappyPills I totally forgot he was still posting on here. There are a few people I have ignored due to the pure negativity they spew.
Just because @SLIGEACH_EIRE shared a link to an article, doesn't necessarily mean that he agree's with it - don't shoot the messenger! (..unless they add an additional comment worth 'shooting' them for! )
I've got a new SD card I want to put in my Switch but I'm unsure of something. Some of my games like Splatoon 2 have data on both the system memory and SD card I've been using,3.5gb system memory and 1gb SD. How do I get around that?
Am I right in saying when I archive the software both sets of data will archive and my save data is all in my system memory?
@OorWullie - Simply copy the old stuff onto the new card - either save the old data to a pc and copy to the new SD or use an SD card reader and an adapter directly from a pc. The Switch won't notice the difference.
If you haven't got a pc or a mac, then... um... maybe you can do it from the Switch. Dunno.
@zitpig Cheers. I just edited my comment before I saw your reply. I didn't think it would be as easy as that. Unfortunately I don't have my PC with me at my parents. I just had a look and it seems it's just update data that's separate on the SD card. I was worried about save data but that seems to all be in the system memory. I should be OK archiving them and doing the updates again as I start the software for the first time on the new SD.
By the way, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not a new game. It is a port of a Wii U game with added Splatoon content and a battle mode. I already paid for Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. A discount is not too much to ask. I say this with the knowledge that Nintendo waits forever to drop prices on titles, and by the time I feel that it's reasonable to purchase Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it won't be active anymore and I won't even be able to play with the friends that I want to play with right now. But do you really think I should have to go spend $60 for a game I already spent $60 on, from a system that didn't do well because of Nintendo's mistakes? This is on them.
I don't think that the Switch sucks. I just think that it is a system that has quite a few of the flaws that recent Nintendo systems have had. The system is underwhelming given the massive amount of hype that surrounds it.
This is one of the biggest reasons that I am struggling to suppport the Switch. For us that bought the Wii U and stuck with Nintendo now are being asked to buy the games all over again to play online on the Switch. (Mario Kart, Bayonetta, Splatoon). I realize some changes have been made, but with the shutdown of Miiverse and abandoning of Wii U completely I feel like Nintendo just expects their loyal fans to buy it all up again and I have a feeling that most are.
@JohnBlackstar Nintendo doesn't expect you to buy into it; it hopes you will, but doesn't expect you to. There is far more to Switch than just those few games though. It's not hard to justify it TBH.
The games you mentioned were supported online for over a year and all for free. That's pretty good going tbh, as M$ and PSN charge <>£40 for online play (ok, ok you do get "free" games thrown in too).
The WiiU is dead, as well as all that went along with it. Time moves on. As always.
I'm a Nintendo fan, but I've not rebought any of those games - I felt I got value out of them on the WiiU and have now moved on and don;t regret it for a second.
@JohnBlackstar Sony did this with The Last of Us, if you wanted to play the online mode or just the game again on PS4 you had to buy it at full price and you could potentially argue The Uncharted trilogy. Rockstar did it with GTA V and then stopped supporting previous generation hardware.
In fact a lot of publishers take this approach when new hardware comes out. It's easy to help fill gaps during the early months/years and most importantly, it almost always works. Gamers have shown time and time again they are more than happy to splash the cash when games they loved are ported.

@JohnBlackstar Bayonetta doesn't have a major online component (it's a single player game at heart), so there's no reason for you to be buying it again if you already have it. Splatoon 2 is a full fledged sequel to Splatoon. Given how many shooters are annual, I don't think them releasing a sequel after two years is a black mark against them, that's slow for the genre. Trust me, if you play it, you'll see the difference. Mario Kart though, that one you're right about. But there's nothing stopping you from playing it online on the Wii U still, not like that system's online doesn't function anymore or anything?

...well, at least until they ruthlessly shut down Mario Kart 8's online on WiiU like they did with Mario Kart Wii (as a not-so-subtle nudge to consider upgrading to the latest platform, no doubt - hurt my heart when they did that!)
That is one of the worst articles I've ever read. Written by the same guy who said after the Switch reveal.
"I spent some time playing the Switch at a press event recently and it did little to inspire me. "
"I’d steer him clear of the Switch, which is looking like it’s going to be as much of a dust collector as every other console Nintendo this millennium."
So basically another clueless analyst, like the ones who called for Nintendo to go mobile and/or 3rd party. Will these guys never learn.
Yet the things you quoted here are mere opinions. I mean, I am also not inspired by the Switch, and definitely see mine collecting dust for quite some time after I finish Odyssey unless they have something up their sleeves for this year, which I really don't think they do.
@JohnBlackstar Yeah, it sucks. There are people I'd love to play Mario Kart 8 with, some new people that are close to me that I didn't have back in the time of the Wii U... But... I already paid a full $60 for Mario Kart 8, plus I purchased all of the DLC on the Wii U. It all most certainly cost me a pretty penny... Only to have Nintendo's mistakes cause them to have to abandon the Wii U and make a new console, and then port the same game over to it and expect people to pay full price for it like it is actually a new game.
It's a shame. It makes me sad. But I can't justify paying another $60 for a game I already bought within the last few years, just because Nintendo made mistakes. Everything relating to the Switch is also so overpriced. Like I'd have to pay more than that for a Pro Controller. It's so ridiculous.
@zitpig It really depends on the tastes of an individual whether or not the console is actually worth it at this point.
For example, here are my personal main Nintendo (and some Third Parties which release on Nintendo) Franchises of Interest:
The Legend of Zelda
Pokemon
Animal Crossing
Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Paper Mario (The original two, not the new entries)
Super Mario (3D series, like 64, Sunshine, Odyssey)
Ace Attorney
Kingdom Hearts
Now tell me honestly, since it's apparently so "easy" to justify getting a Switch for everyone... What does the Switch offer to me that the Wii U already didn't aside from Super Mario Odyssey?
(And for the record, I wouldn't expect a lot of those titles in a console's early lifespan, but it's just when some of them turn out to be ports like Mario Kart, it really takes the wind out of a system for me. Mario Kart is a big part of my enjoyment of a system.)

I think it depends. I mean they can't keep services up forever. And considering the wii u is their red headed step child that they'll want to pretend doesn't exist, they probably won't keep online games up there for that much longer.
That said, I don't think their sole motivation is sinisterly trying to force people to upgrade, it might just be its no longer worth it for them to support such old games

Not to mention, the Wii shutting down so quickly was because the third party service they used for online shut down. That was a mistake they've since corrected, so I wouldn't be so certain 3DS and Wii U servers will go down anywhere near as quickly. I could see them being up for another 2-3 years still at this point, if not longer.
@Harmonie - The Switch doesnt yet host some of those Nintenso games, but there are Indie games that make up for it. For instance there is a Smash Bros style brawler called Brawlout. There is an Animal Crossing style game called Stardew Valley. There are also countless other indie games that are awesome too - I'm actually preferring SteamWorld Dig 2 to Mario Odyssey. You want adventure games? Try OxenFree or OceanHorn or Thimbeweed Park or an RPG? Try GolfStory. Super Mario is represented by Odyssey.
Of course, if you only want Nintendo games, by Nintendo then Mario Kart AND Zelda AND Mario Odyssey boast great versions on the Switch. Those other games you mention will come and more besides. So, I stand by what I said. The Wii and WiiU are now consigned to the history books. The Switch definitely warrants its place in a Nintendo game fan's life.
If you don't think so then you really aren't looking very deeply into what the Switch has to offer. It offers the best versions of some of the games you want already.
@zitpig Fair point on the Indies. I've never really tried any. Right now I am not really in a financial position to really try any new games, unfortunately. I have only a little bit of spending money right now and want to make sure I get games from franchises I already love. But I will take these titles into account when I have more money again (hopefully this summer!)
I disagree on the rest, though. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a port of the Wii U version with some added content. Breath of the Wild was a dual release, which I got on the Wii U. Super Mario Odyssey is the only one that counts for me as a Wii U owner. It is a great game, the best 3D Mario that has been released since Sunshine, IMO. But it is the only one title at the end of the day.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe may be the ultimate version of Mario Kart 8, but what does that really mean for me? It's not worth $60 for some added content when I already have the original.
