@Octane
I'm actually all for Vita releases (day one owner here, even though I'm past the point of buying games on the platform I fully support any games that come for those that do still happen to play it). It's not Vita releases that confuse me, it's Vita but not Switch. No matter how you slice it, if Vita is deemed viable, how can Switch not also be. That's all I'm saying.
@Ralizah
Ah. Makes it a little less egregious then.
@JaxonH Not every game gets a PC release, or a PS4 release, even though it makes a lot of sense in theory. Things like that happen. The Switch is new, we don't know how long they've been planning for certain releases. Maybe the decision to release them on exclusively on PS4 and Vita was made months ago. We don't know. On top of that, there's entry fees. The platform holders charge publishers left and right for releasing a game on their system. Maybe the entry fee on Vita is non-existent to boost the number of games it gets? Maybe it's higher on the Switch? Just tossing out some ideas. Dragon Quest XI is coming to PC, PS4 and Switch, why not Xbox One to maximise sales? Things like that seem to obvious for an outsider, but we have no idea about what goes on behind the scenes.
@Octane To put some more fire to this debate for you guys its been confirmed Nintendo is publishing DQ Builders on Switch.
Just like they seemingly did with Skyrim and DOOM, and now this. Oh and Octopath apparently.
Anyone seeing a trend? Nintendo is having to foot the bills for a lot of games otherwise....we wouldnt get them.
Basically third parties seem to be taking a "Pay us to do it" or a "Shout loud enough for us and build awareness for our game and then maybe" as opposed to actually wanting to do it.
And I worry in future they'll be accustomed to Nintendo paying up and only bring games under those circumstances.

I would love nothing more then to gain insight into how these publishers make the decisions they do.
I can't tell you how many Xbox One versions of games I've seen, where the game clearly was not going to do well (mostly JRPG's). I think it's just a mindset. This mindset from Japanese developers that PS4/Xbox is the be all end all of profit. That those are the only two platforms that matter in the west. That Nintendo is completely irrelevant outside of Japan and any attempt to sell a game in the global market on a Nintendo platform is futile. And that stubborn mindset against Nintendo mirrors their stubborn mindset in favor of Xbox. They think just because it's the "almighty Xbox" that means their games are going to sell like crazy in the west. Then time and again, we see these games release to abominable sales on X1.
I just think these Japanese developers need a wake up call to reality. The market is volatile and the platforms that were viable a few years ago are not the same platforms that are viable today. Their games will do far better on Switch than Xbox One. And we are beginning to see that through the cracks. We are beginning to see games announced for PS4/NSW/PC. But only a few...
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Release Date: Nov 10, 2017
No. of Players: up to 12 players
Category: First Person, Action, Multiplayer Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Developer: id Software
I honestly do wonder why the Catharine remake is skipping anything but Sony titles. I won't say that Atlus is getting paid to stay exclusive, but it's a little fishy with how open they've been in the past with NSW... like announcing a SMT game before it was tested.

I found this very interesting. Those of us that have no visual impairment take things for granted. Also, I wasn't aware of the inverted colours or greyscale mode on the Switch. He makes mention too of how good game design helps blind people play games, specifically mentioning Pokemon, Splatoon 2 and MK8 amongst others.
I'm thinking Catherine is in a similar boat with SC6 where it started development before the Switch was even a thing. On average, Vita isn't even doing 10k weekly anymore, and it's been like that for the entire year.
Of course, I wouldn't put it past Sony to pay for a Vita version. But I'm thinking it's more due to development time.
Maybe the deal now was to keep the remakes as exclusives? I mean, you've got to admit Atlus does make weird decisions sometimes, like keeping both Persona 5 and SMT V as exclusives.
Usually Nintendo-published games have a different seal than other publisher's games.
Games published or distributed by Nintendo have a plastic wrap thas has the Nintendo logo printed on it.
This specific wrap is on Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, DOOM, Skyrim, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
But not on third party games like Disgaea 5 (NIS), Mario+Rabbids (Ubisoft), L.A. Noire (Take-Two), or the two THQ Nordic games (Sine Mora EX, This Is The Police).
So yeah, DOOM and Skyrim are special collaborations. It seems publishing costs (for retail) were taken by Nintendo and publishing rights (digital) were taken by Bethesda.
@SKTTR Wait, there's a logo on the wrap? I had noticed that some of the games had a different material wrap, both due to the texture, the adhesive, and the fact that some of the titles actually smelled weird when you unwrapped them. Not... bad, but weird.
@YummyHappyPills
All anyone can say at this point about the publishing situation with 3rd parties is that <fingers crossed> it's purely a measure Nintendo has been taking to get 3rd party games onto the system earlier.
Let's face it. 3rd parties were probably thinking Switch would be Nintendo's (final) spectacular failure and were most likely VERY far away from committing anything to it.
DQ Builders is just 811mb... that's awesome. How the heck did they get the game that small? Also $49.99 (£39.99). So that's cool.
Even if Nintendo had to work out some deals to get some of these games to come, I'm glad they did. In this case I think they are just publishing it in the west like they did the past games, but still. I like that Nin is stepping up to make sure we get as many third-party games as possible.
Hopefully with enough success, more third parties will just step up on their own accord. I really don't care how they come though. I just want games on the Switch.
