Maybe the deal now was to keep the remakes as exclusives? I mean, you've got to admit Atlus does make weird decisions sometimes, like keeping both Persona 5 and SMT V as exclusives.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Usually Nintendo-published games have a different seal than other publisher's games.
Games published or distributed by Nintendo have a plastic wrap thas has the Nintendo logo printed on it.

This specific wrap is on Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, DOOM, Skyrim, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
But not on third party games like Disgaea 5 (NIS), Mario+Rabbids (Ubisoft), L.A. Noire (Take-Two), or the two THQ Nordic games (Sine Mora EX, This Is The Police).

So yeah, DOOM and Skyrim are special collaborations. It seems publishing costs (for retail) were taken by Nintendo and publishing rights (digital) were taken by Bethesda.

@SKTTR Wait, there's a logo on the wrap? I had noticed that some of the games had a different material wrap, both due to the texture, the adhesive, and the fact that some of the titles actually smelled weird when you unwrapped them. Not... bad, but weird.

@Octane Are we both right or both wrong? No one knows!

Yeah at this moment I cant tell you what it is. It's just been published and no one knows who by.

Since at least the N64 days. Undoing that wrap on a new game is part of the addiction.

@YummyHappyPills
All anyone can say at this point about the publishing situation with 3rd parties is that <fingers crossed> it's purely a measure Nintendo has been taking to get 3rd party games onto the system earlier.

Let's face it. 3rd parties were probably thinking Switch would be Nintendo's (final) spectacular failure and were most likely VERY far away from committing anything to it.

DQ Builders is just 811mb... that's awesome. How the heck did they get the game that small? Also $49.99 (£39.99). So that's cool.

Even if Nintendo had to work out some deals to get some of these games to come, I'm glad they did. In this case I think they are just publishing it in the west like they did the past games, but still. I like that Nin is stepping up to make sure we get as many third-party games as possible.

Hopefully with enough success, more third parties will just step up on their own accord. I really don't care how they come though. I just want games on the Switch.

@JaxonH DQ Builders is 911 MB on the PS4. And get this, only 268 MB on the Vita! Seems like Square did some optimising with this game, the Switch version included. A rare thing in the industry these days.

DQB seems awesome. It looks like Minecraft but with a game included.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's amazing how well the Switch sells, even with continuous shortages in that region.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long for Pokemon, Yokai Watch, and Dragon Quest to release on the Switch, and for supply to improve in Japan. You think THESE numbers are nuts...

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

NaviAndMii

Do they also celebrate a 'holiday season' this time of year in Japan? ..I know that Christmas is often seen as a crucial sales period in the West - just curious as to whether it's similarly/equally crucial over there? ..either way, those numbers are staggering!
