Eh, it was a pretty vague statement.

@-Red- true but it's always been stated Nintendo go their own way. And ubi obviously has devkits so they obviously know what the thing is.

I wouldn't read too much into it. I feel that getting those Wii people back is never going to work, if that's the crowd they're chasing, they're chasing a lost cause. The Wii was a fad, it happened, and chances are slim it's going to happen again. The risk is too big to be betting on that crowd.

@skywake but yours involves trying to sell a Handheld system to those that don't want a handheld.

Not neccessarily. Imagine a Wii U console with a smaller tablet (the size of a new 3DS XL) where the catridge games are now inserted and a small base unit linked to the TV, which the tablet streams the image to so that it can then be played on the big screen, when need be.

It would only be a handheld if people choose to predominantly play it on the go. Those who play it with the TV at all times will see the tablet more as a controller rather than a handheld.

Sadly, the Just Dance game announced for NX has me now believing it won't be what I was hoping for, but perhaps just a typical home console only.

HOWEVER, big question guys:

Just Dance 2017 will be available on all motion-control gaming platforms, including Nintendo's Wii™, Wii U™ and NX systems

Notice it says NX systems. System>s<. Plural.

I don't know if this quote has just been misspelt, but if if "systems" is what was actually said, then this implies more than one new console in the works, which may actually support the handheld AND console theory!

I wouldn't draw any conclusions from that. For me, the word "systems" appears to be referring to the Wii, Wii U and the NX, which is 3 systems in total (or more if the NX is multiple systems)

@WebHead From that comment I imagine a mid-October reveal. The 100% NX gives it away to be after Color Splash's release.

@WebHead I'd argue portable was out of the question from the Ubisoft conference. Just Dance has only appeared on home consoles. Look:
Just Dance - Wii
Just Dance 2 - Wii
Just Dance 3 - Wii, PS3, 360
Just Dance 4 - Wii, PS3, 360, Wii U
Just Dance 2014 - Wii, PS3, 360, Wii U, PS4, XB1
Just Dance 2015 - Wii, PS3, 360, Wii U, PS4, XB1
Just Dance 2016 - Wii, PS3, 360, Wii U, PS4, XB1
Just Dance 2017 - Wii, PS3, 360, Wii U, PS4, XB1, PC, NX

(In terms of power a PC is basically a home console)

This is just the main series but the sub-series follows the same trend which is no handhelds or mobile. So it's clear NX is either a home console or a hybrid (the Gamepad type device acting as the handheld).

@Grumblevolcano I think it's a console with a enhanced pro controller that has scroll wheels and force feedback sticks.

@Grumblevolcano I'd imagine it'd have to have something like a wii-u pad or at least be compatible with the wii-u pad but it's also possible that, if it's VR, it could have a virtual tablet.

I'd like to see it be compatible with the Wii-U pad for the sake of retro-gaming and game preservation...if they discontinue production of the Wii-U pad and don't offer virtual support for the games that utilised it (were they to go full VR/AR) then it doesn't bode well for game preservation and people forced to retro-game for financial reasons...especially since the Wii-U's pad is a touch screen, which is going to be even more vulnerable to wear...it's an expensive and probably irreplicable game controller. I'm personally hoping to stock-pile a few, if I can figure out how to afford to...I'm probably going to want to play at least one or two Wii-u titles more than once over the years. :0/

The fact that the Gamecube controller adapter only supports Pokken and Smash Brothers when they have Wii titles like Tatsunoko V.s Capcom, Guilty Gear XX, King of Fighters Orochi Saga and the Naruto fighting games that would benefit hugely from the Gamecube controller's eight-way gated stick doesn't bode well. :0/

Ever since Zelda had been announced as being both on NX and Wii U I've though that the NX was going to be one thing and one thing only. Incredibly boring hardware but with fantastic software to push it along. And if that's what it ends up being? Then I'm more than happy.

In terms of controllers? I wouldn't at all be surprised if it supported all of the Wii and Wii U controllers. They're bluetooth controllers so it's very easy to support them. Also makes any VC or BC if they do it fairly easy. Whether or not they also support the GamePad though is another question entirely. As is what the default NX controller will look like.

But in general... boring old box, no gimmicks. Specs that put it in the same performance box as the PS4 and XBOne. Which isn't an issue with the upgraded hardware from Sony and MS because those are for 4K and VR. Which I also said and the internet is panicking because Microsoft actually said it. oops.

@skywake I think it'll be stronger than ps4 and xbone but weaker than neo and obviously Scorpio.

WebHead

Grumblevolcano

@skywake Wouldn't for Zelda on NX to have the same experience as on Wii U there have to be some sort of Gamepad though?

Grumblevolcano

-Green-

I'm hoping it has no pointless gimmicks. I'd be perfectly fine with a good normal console that could run beautiful Nintendo games on it.

@Grumblevolcano Not necessarily. The focus on the gamepad for Zelda so far has been very small. They rarely even mention it or use for anything significant.

Edit: It's funny. Nintendo claimed that Zelda would use the gamepad to its fullest (or something to that degree), yet haven't brought much attention to it or even shown anything unique about it.

@WebHead Yes but Zelda also supports amiibo which is a Gamepad exclusive thing for Wii U.
