I can't believe nobody mentioned the two Metro games. Amazing games en superb ports. I'm completely hooked on 2033. The tension and atmosphere in these games is out of this world.
Looking for something fun to play for 2 or more players. I have smash bros and mario kart already. I was thinking about fifa but considering switch version has some pretty bad reviews online, it probably isn’t the best idea.
Coop game with good story would be great too. (Something like A Way Out)
@Bmartin001 LM3. The gameplay is unique and elating; you'll enjoy it every step of the way. In my opinion, it should hold your attention for longer periods of time than Link's Awakening or XI. Just my two cents.
@T7Hokage017 It doesn't make you weird at all. Lots of people were just used to getting every Pokemon ever and so when the inevitable finally happened and GF limited the dex, people went nuts. And it's fair to dislike the game, I understand being upset that your favorite mons aren't there or you just can't stand the tree textures and heck, even I complain about some of the lag during sandstorms or blizzards in the wild area... but the thing is, with almost any other game - if people don't like it, they drop it and move on. But no, not Pokemon! They latched onto Sw/Sh and it became the popular thing to hate - much like when Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan first become popular and then became popular to hate. It was trendy to hate Pokemon Sword and Shield.
But then the game came out and sold like hotcakes and has a lot of people really enjoying it. Especially the official VGC competitive crowd. The limited dex has given us one of the healthiest doubles metagames we've ever had. Competitive Pokemon has never been more accessible. Between the ability to rent other people's teams to the fact that you can literally go from level 1 hatched to level 100 perfect EV/IV trained competitive mon in minutes means building a team for multiplayer is shockingly easy.
The single player is short, but a lot of that time difference is a lack of time wasters from previous games. A huge amount of time is saved with the simple fact that you don't run into a zubat every 2 steps. You're not constantly running into and running away from wild Pokemon. Grinding is also almost completely unneeded. Unless you go back to an earlier area and catch something really low level, you might need to grind a little bit. But the experience system gives much more to lower leveled Pokemon and much less to over leveled Pokemon.
Feel free to toss my a friend request (FC below). I'll happily join some raids with you, or you can with me. And I can help you get into competitive battles if you're interested in that.

@T7Hokage017 Heck, I don't even see anything wrong with hating something if you don't like it. But hate it and move on. Why dwell on it? Why attack people who do like it? There's nothing to be gained from that.

I need something new. AC new horizons doesn't interest me in the slightest (seems like an unpopular opinion but hey) and I search through reviews and the eshop and nothing seems to grab me. I like games with a decent single player or coop story to it. On the whole i normally get put off games that use pixel art, there are a couple exceptions but not many. I keep looking at Astral Chain as i like the art style but it seems like the gameplay is complicated and I worry that i wont stick with it for too long. (I try to expect to get at least an hour of gameplay per pound the game costs. 40 quid at least 40 hours)
If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate the recommendations.

Try these games.
1. Overcooked 2
2. Go Vacation
3. Evoland Legendary Edition (The games have both 2D and 3D style in 60 fps)
4. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
5. Dragon Quest Builders 1 / 2
@JoeM103 Astral Chain is really pretty good, and can easily last 40 hours or more (it did for me). There is a lot to do in there. The combat is stylish and goes as deep as you want it to be; the exploration and investigations are engaging; and finding all the secrets and doing the minigames is bags of fun. The story is ridiculous, in true Japanese anime fashion. It's certainly better value than something like Link's Awakening (which is also really good).
That said, if you haven't played it elsewhere, The Witcher 3 offers about 200 hours of content and represents one of the best single-player campaigns on Switch. If you like story, then there might not actually be anything better on Switch. I'm having a great time with it.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Three Houses and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE are also great options if you can cope with more traditional RPG systems for a story. All are great.
@Krull Thanks, its nice to get a bit on insight into the game. did you find it confusing at all? I keep thinking that the controls look mega complex.
I've never actually played Witcher, it does look good but I've been hesitant as i wasnt sure how well it would run on the switch. I bought Doom for the system a while ago and the constant lag just really bugged me.
Its funny you mentioned hollow knight and shovel knight, I've been trying to decide which to pick up for a while with the other option being Gris.
I think the reason why I've been feeling like this is because ever since Metroid was teased thats all I've been wanting to play haha
