Pretty much. If Nintendo wants to, they can add another split somewhere down the timeline that merges with another part timeline that resulted from another split and in turn results in this games and nobody could've guessed it.
@Grandpa_Pixel There's no consistency once you start introducing the concept of alternate timelines.
Still, for some it doesn't matter, but for others it is fun to guess where it is in Nintendo's official timeline. They may make a new split, but it still is fun to see how the games and the lore are connected among them, at least for me.
@Grandpa_Pixel You've got a pretty good point there about the presence of a Hero.
@Haru17 The bomb is that everything we've seen so far is actually the 3DS version. The Wii U version was canceled 2 years ago.
Coming to New 3DS in late 2018 for the system's swansong.
I can't believe I fell asleep last night and actually MISSED watching the second piece of footage live. I watched it earlier, and wow do I really wanna play the game now.
Some people on the interwebs are bawling about the frame rate, but I don't think it's that bad.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Octane I agree. It's not even just "Aww it's 30 instead of 60 fps" the game was definitely chugging to some very low frames during that demo. I'm surprised they okayed it to be shown, actually.
That said, I'm sure they'll optimize it better for Wii U as launch approaches. I certainly hope so at least.
Having watched the video again on Nintendo's YouTube channel... yup, there definitely seems to be some frame rate issues. However, it's not that bad; from the way a lot of people are saying it it certainly sounded like the game was consistently taking frame rate dips. From what I saw the dips occured at the end of the video. The game managed to hold its own. (30FPS isn't a deal breaker although I very much prefer 60FPS. But that's just asking for too much at this point).
That said, frame rate dips are annoying (except in some rare cases) and I hope Nintendo does their best to optimize the game (Wii U version, at least) to to keep the dips and chops to a minimum.
In Zeltik's Bird Men theory video, he heightened the contrast on the image of the airship in the shot where it is farther away, which is certainly interesting. Notice how, instead of glowing pink along the seams, it's glowing blue.
So therefore, in the scene where we see "Falco" flying up to it, it shows no signs of Ganon's corruption, whereas at a different point in the game, it is. Which I suppose is perhaps helpful information to anyone speculating about "Falco's" motivations or intentions.
Just to contribute to the framerate discussion, I linked a friend to the video and he noticed the framerate within seconds of watching the video (and he was not aware of this at all, doesn't keep that up to date with Nintendo news and doesn't care about Zelda). We agreed that most of the footage was sub-30, not "30 with a few drops". With the exception of the fog washing some of the visuals out, the game looks gorgeous, but they need to further optimize and scale back some effects. If the framerate is still close to what it is in that trailer at release, it's going to certainly be a hurdle for me enjoying the game. I just hope they aren't treating it like a Wii U port of a Switch game now...
That aside, the game still looks excellent. I look forward to being able to finally play it.

You have the right to disagree with me and the ability to consider anything valid that I say; Please exercise both.
Wow, so men eat meat and women eat salad? Thanks for sexism, Nintendo (semi /s). Anyway, I'm pretty surprised to get an update so soon after The Game Awards. I'm having trouble reconciling this with my obvious assumption of December radio silence.
@Nicolai That actually... makes sense. I'm shocked someone made a cogent Breath of the Wild theory. They didn't mention "the timeline" either! Anyway, besides being consistent, that would make for a really cool way to turn the airship into the dungeon we all know it has to be. Maybe it'll even go Captain America: Winter Soldier on us, who knows? It could also explain why whatever fell force blew a hole in Snowpeak didn't just "nope" it out of the sky like a mid-2000s meme.
Birdman reminds me a bit of Waka, the half-baked prophet, from ÅŒkami. It's probably just a Rito though, but with the flying airship, the jumping manoeuvres and all.. I don't know. Might be some character central to the plot.
@Octane Reddit has taught me that, along with a certainly manually dexterous, ugly Pokemon, Not-Quill has bird feather fingers. The guy with the accordion grips it like he has a five-finger hand... of feathers.
@Haru17 Rito could change their hands into wings as well, couldn't they? Dunno, two bird-like creatures, would be weird if they were completely different species.
Also, Rito = no Zora? Cause that would be a bummer too..
@SLIGEACH_EIRE: I love seeing it randomly plummet from the sky, lol. The game is brimming with personality!
For today's weather, it's cloudy with a chance of meatbombs! Also, expect some random vegetation and fish on Sunday when a tropical air mass comes through!
I dunno, I'm just one of those people who isn't that bothered with framerate as long as it's fairly consistent most of the time and doesn't drop TOO low. I am admittedly worried about that drop near the end, though.
