Nope.

You didn't seem to be so excited about the idea before, but I'm glad you changed your mind

@Spanjard Good memory, but those are two very different questions:

Do I want the game to have seasons? Yes, yes, yes.

Do I expect this game to have seasons? Not a chance in the Fire Temple. Even after this trailer, which probably just shows a defined area of fall colors. There's always that hope though...

@Haru17 I'm not expecting it either, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. They did say things that might suggest it.

We did see towers rising out the ground, so changing the landscape in a considerable way doesn't seem that weird either. I would love for a big freaking dungeon to just pop out the ground.

Very excited about this game.

@Spanjard Seasons would certainly go a lot further than lip service and imagery at pushing the nature theme. But changing literally all of the deciduous trees in the world, even if they are simple objects, is a feat greater than any AAA has pulled off before.

Something I didn't notice before, in the gameplay demo the Lizalfos are firing lightning arrows at Link — they have the same kind of radiating energy effect as the light arrows and everything. That and Link has a lightning rod in his inventory (ala fire rod: it's magic).

So it looks like we have our elemental damage types for Zelda: fire, ice, and lightning. Shocker.

No matter how many times I hear people say this Zelda isn't just like Skyrim, it just keeps proving me right.

@Haru17 does it really matter though? TES is heavily inspired by LOZ in the first place. If anything, I think this will be Skyrim done right.

I mean, if Zelda is going to attempt open world — even attempt to create a new open world archetype — I would want it to learn from the only other open world game that doesn't inherently suck.

TES is heavily inspired by LOZ in the first place.

lol how? If anything it's inspired by LotR and D&D. Elder Scrolls' first-person RPG nature has a direct line of evolution from more older dungeon crawlers. I will have none of this "I only know Earth so the universe revolves around Earth, I only know Nintendo so the medium revolves around Nintendo" nonsense.

If anything, I think this will be Skyrim done right.

Skyrim done Zelda, anyway.

@Haru17 #8617 More evidence of why BotW may not be a Switch launch title (corroborating with LKD). I know Nintendo fans are usually of the view "I really don't care about third party games" so Skyrim and BotW being released close to each other would very likely damage Bethesda's new relationship with Nintendo.

I don't know why, but the bird-people gave me a loftwing vibe.

That would make a weird kind of sense.

Anyway, what's LKD?

@Haru17 Laura Kate Dale, the person who "leaked" a bunch of things to do with Switch like the 3rd version of Pokemon gen 7 and there being a ton of Wii U ports in the first year.

Seasons would kinds negate the point of having different climates for different parts of the world.

That village and market looked nice. Hope there's something bigger like a town or small city though.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Haru17

@Grumblevolcano Ah, thank you for clarifying.

There's something I keep coming back to with Breath. I get a strong sense — especially with how the trailers have each ended — that they're holding something big back. I deeply feel that they're going to drop successive bombs so big, so astounding, and with such emotionally evocative music that everyone's going to forget to be mad about Nintendo allowing women to role-play their role-playing game

Stuff like seasons, underwater exploration, flying — I feel like we're missing some big piece of the puzzle that will make Breath indisputably jaw-dropping. And then everyone buys a Switch... when it launches in June.

Shinion

@Haru17 I'm definitely starting to think it is time travel. The overall design inspiration of this game seems to be a massive expansion of the original game, they pretty much confirmed it to be so in fact, so I'd like them to take the 'gimmick' that the series is most remembered for and expand that too, OoT, MM and OoA all featured time travel but were limited by the hardware they were running on and that could well change here.

I wouldn't be surprised if whatever they're now obviously holding back from showing will be shown on January 12th, be it playable Zelda, time travel or flying. Show it off on the best version of the game that may or may not coincide with the release date announcement and that'll be cool.

Octane

@Haru17 About seasons, just change the leaves from green to orange/red and remove them for winter. Maybe a separate state for spring. It requires only four different trees to mimic simple seasonal change, you don't even have to change the tree models itself for all seasons.

@Haru17 The bomb is that everything we've seen so far is actually the 3DS version. The Wii U version was canceled 2 years ago.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

@Haru17
I agree, specially with the music part -it feels like they are announcing a big surprise, and personally, I think its not of the "everyone lives happily ever after" kind.
Maybe it ends with the Hyrule flooded, preparing the stage for the WW? Who knows at this point.

Ugh, waiting until 2017 to play this is going to be a real bore.... On the other hand, its better that way since i can concentrate on graduating next year.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

It can't lead to WW. The prologue story told that the Hero of Time did not appear and the lack of a hero caused the Great Flood.

If the Hero of the Wild is fighting Calamity Ganon, that would mean the story would have changed and the Great Flood might never have occurred

The destroyed castle town is a big clue pointing to the child timeline. Maybe downfall.

Timelines don't matter

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
