Miyamoto was already quoted as saying the next Mario game would be "a new kind of Mario."

I would imagine that poses a problem for those of us who fear change.

That obviously means that Nintendo is going to copy Uncharted; Mario with guns, shooting goombas and cars.. It's clear that they have been hinting towards this for a while now;

@Haru17 @Octane I don't care what new things they do for Mario because it works very well. You are forgetting that he stated that Mario won't have a change anywhere bigger than Zelda.

Also...no. Putting the Italian plumber here in the same change as Zelda is plain dumb as we all know that there's a huge difference between platformers and RPGs (or in Zelda's case, Action-Adventure).

Also you guys seem to think that I don't want this game to happen which is wrong as I want it to happen and I'll definetely get it. My concern is again the difficulty of making the next Zelda game and that this one is not as innovative as Link Between Worlds. But time will tell how it will be in the end.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

@Tsurii Yes I'm serious. Atleast from what I've looked at so far, Its basically doing the same thing as the original game only in 3D with a few new items in play.

Hunting isn't new in Zelda but rather expanded further as previous Zelda games do have some small elements of hunting though nowhere as big as this.

It may be a change of the Zelda series but again, this is nothing when the first game already did that. The only reason why people like you think of it as a big change is because Zelda has been taken a linear path for a long time.

For now, I'm not convinced that it does anything new so when more info is revealed, then I'll see but I'm happy that people are excited with it because it is breathtaking and a beautiful looking game.

No wonder jump was upset to see you pop up, uhh.

Anyways, as much as I like this game so far, I'm gonna probably wait and see the NX and its version before I decide to purchase it. Hopefully, the NX is a good console so BotW will function better on it.

I'd imagine most people who don't already own a Wii U and want the game are gonna do that.

It'll be a super Mario game with clothing items, foraging, sneaking, hunting and a large open world.

Like, I think open-world is the only thing Mario hasn't done at this point.

So now that everyone is claiming that this game is copying third party RPG games like Witcher 3, I wonder what rants you guys will give next for Nintendo's lack of creativity.

I know Nintendo can't please everyone, but pleasing you guys has been really impossible these days.

Okay, so... here you claim that everyone is complaining that BotW is copying Witcher 3. Nobody in this thread ever said that they were.

Socar wrote:

Wrong, its a bad thing if its good from here on because I can predict that Nintendo will have a creative block after this game and it will make the Zelda series dormant from here on like how F-Zero GX was the ultimate F-Zero game and that series has remained dormant ever since because Nintendo has a creative block over that series.

Abandoning a series has nothing to do with creative block. F-Zero was niche enough that they didn't want to put resources into a new one. They would make the same game over and over if it made money.

Oh wait, they do.

Socar wrote:

I never said anything negative about the game and I even defended the game that people are claiming it to be based on western RPGs and what not.

Again, no one here but you is complaining that Zelda is copying western RPGs. Are you trying to imprint your feelings onto us?

Socar wrote:

Then explain Metroid being open ended and people wanting more of that instead of linearity then or how about explaining the reason for the need to change the whole structure of the Zelda game when people are fine with it being linear.
I'm excited for the game but its still puzzling as to why this change is required when linearity is still fine regardless?

Because it's NOT fine. I think SS made that abundantly clear. The OoT formula has gotten stale and gimmicks can only take it so far. Linearity does not work in the adventure genre anymore.

Socar wrote:

So if this game is borrowing heavily from Western RPGs ( I still hate that people claim it so but whatever) Then how can this game add anything unique to the genre?

Again, you are the only person complaining about this. Stop pretending like people other than you have a problem with this. Be honest with yourself: you are the one who has a problem with this.

Socar wrote:

So copying existing games is what you want them to do to get with the times? wow. That just shows some sense of stupidity don't you think?
Claiming that they rehash the same Mario games over and over and now all of a sudden rehashing a game by copying other games is the better idea?
That's not getting into times. That's simply encouraging Nintendo to not do anything fresh to the industry and just do what mobile devs do, copy and past games that aren't new.

They aren't copying anything. They are using core concepts of the genre that they've been avoiding for some time. It's like... the lock on system. Zelda came up with it but many different games since have used it. That's not because they just want to "copy" it, it's just a really good concept that works well with almost any form of 3D combat. In the same way, the open world concept works well with adventure games like Zelda. They're just playing catch up with the genre they've been ignoring.

Socar wrote:

To now see Botw copying elements of western rpgs and not doing anything new to that genre is now making me wonder whether this method is encouraging Nintendo to not needing any original/unique concepts but simply copy ideas from third parties inorder to make profits from this forth.

Now read the first quote again.

I... I don't feel like I need to add anything to that. It explains itself pretty well.

The original is so archaic at this point that doing the same things but with the new advances in video game technology makes it a completely new experience. Do you honestly believe that this will play anything like the original!?
God I'm so sorry for the rant I just couldn't hold it anymore. Please let's just drop this topic can we? I'm tired of this argument.

@NintyFanLINK'S GREEN TUNIC yes it will be quite interesting to see how that comes into play! It's probably story related since they can't talk about it.

But wasn't Sunshine a open world game? You could skip the sun sprites missions to explore around the area to do quests and mini games for fun/earn rewards.

I'm curious if the boomerang will show up over here in this game. Its like a dog to me....you know? The one that fetches you the newspaper?

@EOTW I'm not gonna argue but I did say that I am concerned about this thing happening now did I?

It's not like "multiplayer Zelda" is some sort of completely new mind blowing concept.

There's about four games like that already, and other games include multiplayer modes or options.

Can we not demonize linear games please? Especially while we're in a forum for a system without many open worlds? You can talk when you've experienced the "open world revolution" on the multiplatform systems for a bit. You'll be sick of it within 6 months.

Now, that doesn't invalidate open worlds, but it would offer teach the wiser of us a lesson about artistic diversity. It serves no one to pigeonhole entire genres—especially those as broad as action/adventure—as better or worse as one specific thing.

Personally I love both of the Four Swords games so I wouldn't mind another one if it's done well.
I enjoyed Tri Force Heroes overall, but it felt lacking in some ways.
