Ah, there's no way that's true. But it would be pretty awesome, if Nintendo did a whole Nintendo Direct that day saying "April Fools!" Here's the 2015 release date for Zelda U!

I can't say that i'm disappointed by the delay. Between my backlog and a ton of similar open world games out this year I wouldn't mind a early 2016 Zelda game that hits in February/March.

Honestly, I'm glad its a bit delayed because I've still yet to get the Wii U and I'm happy that Anouma-San is doing his very best to make this game the ultimate Zelda experience.

That being said, I wonder if he's going to retire after this game because from that speech, I can guess that this would be the last Zelda game that he will be in charge of.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Well, the problem is most people think that the game will release during Holiday 2016 because the last few console Zeldas have released at the end of the year.

Why would you guess that? Isn't he relatively young, compared to the veterans at Nintendo?

He's only 10 years younger than Miyamoto and less than Iwata. That said, he's hardly going to retire at 50, he has said that he wanted to work on other projects, though.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

I'm just saying, it doesn't really seem like he's losing any steam. Certainly doesn't seem like he's retiring, and I don't see indication from the speech that this is his last game.

It might not be a bad idea to give a new face control of the Zelda after U. Just look at what happened when Miyamoto took a chance on Aonuma.

@Nicolai According to a Games Magazine that I've read, he wanted to make the best Zelda game that he can and then retire after that. He has a son which I never knew.

Miyamoto has a knack for handing over his creations to the right people. Zelda under Aonuma and Mario under Koizumi have both been able to uphold the standard of quality set by Miyamoto himself.

Koizumi likes to train his staff to be able to handle challenges themselves. Now it seems like Mario is being handed off again to Koichi Hayashida as Koizumi moves further into management (which he fully deserves). Hayashida worked directly under Koizumi for 3 games and then took lead director on SMG2 and SM3DW. I would say that the quality has still remained high.

Aonuma is a brilliant designer and maybe that's what he really loves doing. Maybe he still prefers getting down to the guts of a game over managing a EAD group. If he is planning to hand over the reigns of Zelda to someone else, I hope he has been grooming someone for the job like Koizumi had been.

Nintendo made a point of knowledge management from as early as the n64 days onwards. They're good at getting great people to do great things mentored by great experienced people themselves.

I think that, even if the Zelda U team was different, it'd still be a great game if only for the protection of such an essential IP for nintendo lol. It makes people want zelda games, knowing they're going to be awesome anyway.

REASON FOR ZELDA DELAY LEAKED TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDING

Mr Iwata : It's a good thing Zelda is released this year. My job is really on the line. How is the new open world looking?

Mr Aonuma : It's great. There is so much to explore! Yesterday we spent all day just riding Epona about. Last week we were trying to get to the top of a mountain we could see. We only got to it yesterday!

Mr Iwata : Erm..you are working on it right?

Mr Aonuma : Oh..errr..yes of course. Would you like a go?

Mr Iwata: Sure.

Monday 30th March 2015 8am

Mr Iwata : CRAP! Weve been playing this too long and got no work done! OH NO! I've forgotten to release anything on the Wii U virtual console.

This joke might work if the Wii U VC actually didn't have any games...which it does. You're just grasping at straws here

Yeah.... Hideo Kojima should get a chance at directing a Legend of Zelda game. LOL that would be interesting to see how Kojima would handle the Zelda series.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!
