@VoidofLight Actually they use a third party physics engine called Havok.

@jump Oh huh. I heard that most of the development for BotW was with them trying to get the physics right.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

VoidofLight

That's true. Honestly though, the physics engine they went with was wonderful.

The engine Havok is actually a Microsoft product, because Microsoft does what Nintendon’t ;p

I was playing on the tv at night with the volume up. Just ridin' around, looking for the hearty raddishes. If you play it with the volume at a good level, you'll get what I got.

@slowdive @Eel @jump or anyone else.
Don't uncover the spoiler until after you watch the clip, unless you want to ruin it.
I didn't know botw did jump scares now? XD I thought it was funny, anyway. That Lizalfos startled me good.

(side note: "just riding around" is something you often hear when a customer wants a bike frame replaced under warranty (cause they broked' it). Also known as JRA)

@Eel oh, wow. That is kinda scary. That's funny.

And, notifications don't hide spoilers. That's good to know.

What game event triggers elemental weapons in the Coliseum Ruins?

Elemental weapons = fire, ice, lightning. I'm like 8 hours into a new game, but enemies in the Coliseum only have boring weapons with no magical, elemental properties - bunch-a-losers.

-edit: i see a page that after you've freed/beat all four beasts, then the coliseum enemies carry elemental weapons. Can anyone confirm that? Man, I didn't think it was that late in that game.

Yes, the coliseum enemies, and indeed most of the ones in the game, will level up as you progress and this allows you to consistently pick up better gear.

It's not so much the divine beasts though, but a metric derived from the enemies you defeat in general. Beat plenty of them, of lots of different types, and nearly everyone will be sporting a top level weapon.

By the time you've beaten all four divine beasts, you've probably also done that, hence the confusion.

For skipping the shrine cut scenes you press X, but for skipping the blood moon cut scene you have to press +. Anyone know the reason for the inconsistency?

Akimi

I finished playing through Breath of the Wild for the first time just this past weekend. It has such a great sense of exploration. I got distracted so many times on a quest because...what the heck is that over there? Amazing experience.

Anybody else have trouble making 30 minute speed increase food recipes? I used to make them often. I can't get the 30 minute version. What am I doing wrong?

4 fleet lotus seeds + dragon part + blood moon.

Do I need a specific dragon part, or monster extract?

The difficulty pacing in BOTW is all over the place, they act like it’s a choose your own adventure sort of game, but in practice this isn’t exactly true. I am sure you can really do anything in any order that you want, but I think there are paths through the game that will make it a much harder/more frustrating experience than it necessarily needs to be. I guess this is good, as people always complain that a game is too hard or not hard enough and this sort of lets you pick your own difficulty by the way in which you tackle things in the game. But it does also lead to some frustration if you aren’t following a guide (not that I would recommend you do for this).

Newb questions about this game……
1). Are there weapons that don’t friggin break? Cuz that’s super annoying about this game
2) Can you somehow stop and make a little campfire or something wherever you want to be able to cook? Because I hate the whole cooking system and being that you only can do it where you find a fire pit is even more annoying.

@CactusMan Ah, you got the paraglider. Excellent. They probably told you to go to find Impa at Kakariko village. It's in your interest to make your way there to see impa.

try cooking a single hearty raddish, by the way.😉

@ChoachMcGoach Behold! There are workarounds for all your woes.

Solutions for the breaking weapons.
1. Be sure to fully upgrade your bombs at the Lab in Hateno Village. You can almost fight everyone with maxed out bombs alone. Upgrading bombs reduces cool-down time and increases their power.
2. You can also farm arrows. (austin john plays and others have youtubes for farming arrows)(I prefer the bokoblins on horseback method.)
3. Sneak into the castle! You can find stronger weapons in there. There's a whole area to explore in there. Going in there does NOT trigger gannon boss fight. You have to REALLY search to find the spot that triggers gannon, and you'll know it when you see it. It's easy to avoid. Even if you did trigger it, you can pause & reload a previous save point. Or, I think if you let yourself die, it will leave you outside again.

Regarding cooking:
You need that kettle & fire to cook. Although, a fire can kind of cook single items and improve their food value a little bit. (try cooking a single hearty raddish 😉😉)

In case you meant make a regular campfire:
1. Put wood bundle (from a tree) & flint on the ground. Swing a sword at wood & flint, and it will make a campfire.
2. Hit a wood bundle with a flame sword, or shoot it with fire arrow.
