It'd be dope if a game explored how the Twili first came to Hyrule, their connections to the Sheikah, and potentially the dark magic that Majora used and the creation of the mask. Potentially that's where the ancestor of the Happy Mask Salesman comes in.
Yes, yes. Everyone with the snark. Nothing I love more than snark...
I just think that, if they wanted to expand upon an existing part of the lore, that would be the space to do it in. The Twili, Sheikah, and Majora are perhaps the most vague areas of the lore. I'm not sure if they're connected in any way, but there are visual parallels on the fused shadow; http://www.zeldainformer.com/assets_c/2011/07/Twilight_Majora...
I just really dig the whole discovering ancient secrets and subtle world building thing, okay? Snark at me all you want for it.

I actually agree on the Twili and Majora (not so much the Sheikah, it's very much people trying to find something in nothing). I was just saying that it's a very very common plot line brought up by Zelda fans.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
Some people speculate that this game occurs after MM and before TP, since that one broken stone bridge we see in TP (can't remember what it's called) appears in some of the footage we were shown, not only this but it's in very good shape, as though it had been built recently. It'll be depressing if this is the story of how The Hero of Time died, or what took place before his eventual death as an adult. XD
This would also turn the Hero of Time saga into a trilogy. Then you'd have the "Batman Beyond" type successor that is Twilight Princess.
We know from the Hero's Spirit/Shade/whatever that the Hero of Time died lamenting the fact that he wouldn't be remembered for his heroic deeds nor be able to pass on his teachings to future generations. Also judging by his appearance he grew into a full-grown adult (he's plenty taller than TP Link) and became a soldier at some point.
If Zelda U were to be about the Hero of Time's demise they would have to either include or retcon this.

I'm not so sure that the hero's shade really is OoT Link (the one from MM). The evidence seems quite circumstantial. It could just be a royal guard of some kind. Plus, the hero's spirit being in two places simultaneously is just a little bit paradoxical.

Hyrule Historia states that the Hero's Shade is the Hero of Time.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

Actually it doesn't. Reading the copy in front of me, it states that "Some theorize that the fact that he holds his sword in his left hand indicates that he is actually Link from Ocarina of Time." The Historia also calls the Hero's Shade the 'Ancient Hero,' and wasn't made by Nintendo, so I have doubts as to its accuracy. 'Some' could even be referring to fans. Either way it's hardly certain.
"The spirit of Link's ancestor, the Hero of Time, teaches him his secrets. Ever since returning to the Child Era, the swordsman has lamented the fact that he was not remembered as a hero." (Pg 118)
This, shown alongside a picture of Link and the Hero's Shade.
Also, discussing the legitimacy of the book, it is officially licensed by Nintendo and Eiji Aonuma was the supervising editor.

Wow... and then... Zelda U can end with the gamer playing the beginning sequences of Twilight Princess....

I said it was 'not made by Nintendo'. I didn't contest their approving of it. And whatever that typo-ridden rag says the hero's shade thing makes no sense. The book emphasizes the shade calling TP Link 'son', but there's no way he could be TP Link's father. 80-100 years is just too long a time to live and then have kids. So all that means is that he is TP Link's elder (obviously, given the rust and moss).
And none of this explains just how the hero's spirit could be in two places at once. It just doesn't make logical sense for the hero's shade to be the hero's spirit.
Why is Link hiding his face behind a hood? Remember that gameplay video of Link riding Epona and his face was hiding behind a hood for a brief moment? Is he trying to hide something? Is he running from something? Is he just trying to look cool? And what's with the Gerudo patterns on his epic cloak?
