So I just came across a White-Maned Lynel...and I put up my shield in preparation...and it just watched. So I strafed around it...and just watched. Then it drew its bow...and watched. And then I got far enough away and it did nothing.

I had Daruk's Protection could that've been a factor?

Okay I lied. There is no safe distance. Don't get cosy.

There is a way to keep them from attacking you: Buy the Lynel's mask from the night merchant and wear it near him. They will not attack you unless you pull a weapon on it first

So uhh, I've been using the wrong runes for combat this entire time. Turns out stasis, which I basically haven't used, makes fighting just about everything 100x easier. I've been hunting guardians and lynels just for kicks now since figuring that out.

Also, Link is now immune to Lightning With the upgraded rubber outfit. LOGIC!

Knowing how to stun them makes them complete pushovers. You still need an ancient weapon for guardians and learn how to dodge the lynels, especially the silver ones.

OMG OMG OMG:i did all inside the Lost Woods, even the 5 riddles, and i was able to get the MASTER SWORD!! OMG it was so epic and fantastic!! It seems the sword is stronger against Ganon's creatures and it has a sort of cooldown when it brakes. That is really a nice thing!! Can't wait starting swinging it!!

Yup, it's cool until you get better weapons

@rallydefault Yeah, that's been my feeling recently too. I was all burned out on combat shrines, which I felt were eating up my rightful puzzle chambers, but now I haven't come across one in ages, and instead have been hit with a bazillion awesome (and sometimes quite lengthy) puzzles. So my previous complaints have eventually been answered since I wrote them. Which is nice.

@Octane That's funny, because Hebra - probably more than any other mid/late game area - was the area that made me feel the most like the early game. I completely fell in love with it, and got obsessed with climbing and exploring and investigating all over again. I'd run up stuff in my snow boots, and then hurtle down on my shield. After the expanses of Central Hyrule and the weird giant mushroom place, I really enjoyed its narrow focus, and the peaks and valleys, and funny little secrets. And the wildlife is cool. Definitely one of my favourite areas. But whatever, that doesn't really matter. The doors are what matter. There are a couple of them, which technically have the same solution, but are brought about in two quite different ways. It's an absolutely ballin' enviro-puzzle IMO.

And with respect to the disappearing dragonflies (and fireflies, and probably some other insects), I'm pretty sure that's an intentional design choice rather than anything memory related. The designers wanted to give the impression of a 'swarm' - both for aesthetic reasons and for ease of recognition from a distance - but didn't want to literally allow that many of each insect to be caught, which would make them too easily obtainable. So when you approach a swarm, only the actual, catchable insects remain, and the ones that were only there for aesthetics simply vanish.

...And now I've just read your second post which demonstrates that you've already understood this fully. :/

Anyway, it's annoying at first to discover that you can't catch nearly as many insects as you thought, but I think it has some merit as a design decision. It's certainly easier to spot a 'dragonfly swarm' from a distance than a couple of individual spindly bugs buzzing about on the next hill (or wherever). I put it in a similar category to animals just conveniently exploding into steak or drumstick. Once you accept it, there's an element of sense to its absurdity. Every wild animal contains a few bits of obtainable meat. Every dragonfly 'warm contains a few obtainable dragonflies. That's basically what they 'represent' as entities in terms of obtainable materials, with a bit of artistic license thrown in to make the whole thing go smoothly. After realising what was going on, my initial disappointment was pretty short lived. I still get ample insects from each swarm anyway thanks to the Sheikah Suit making stealth a matter of just not hitting the run button.

Anyway, I got my weapons slots maxed out! Macca (?) gets pretty greedy in the end. 55 seeds for the last slot! I've still got one slot missing in the bottom right corner of the weapons menu, so I wonder if that's for the Master Sword. Not long until I find out!

@Maxz Wasn't his name Hestu? Anyway, yeah, I'm also wondering about that last spot, but I'm not drawing the Master Sword until I'm done with everything else. I'll save that sword for Ganon's arse.

@Octane Err... yes! In which case, who on earth is Macca. :/ Off to Google!

EDIT: Maca is apparently the helpful guide Korok in the Lost Woods. Whose name I can't even misplace well enough to spell right.

@Tsurii Where do I find the horseback shooting thingy!? I want to get mad and smash stuff!

@Tsurii Thank you. I didn't even know the different bows had different flight paths. I just assume the only differences were damage output, quick fire, and number of arrows per shot. Which is why I've been neglecting upgrading my bow storage. Anyway, I'll give it a go and try not to throw a tandrum. Do you need a lot of arrows, or are they supplied?

Also, have you ever got anything good from the deer hunting mini game in Hateno? It always seems like a lot of arrows for not a lot of rupees...

Do you actually get something from these mini games? They're not quests, so I assumed they were pretty pointless.

@Octane @Tsurii Yeah, the fake clouds of dragonflies bugged me too. Like the little white bugs, they're only an effect that fades as you get closer, not actual NPCs and items. The animals spawn randomly and disappear due to design decisions, not memory. I'm talking about dropping three sets of five apples on the ground and only having ten when you're done, or circling a small plateau chopping down trees and finding the ones you cut down a minute ago still standing, with their fruit removed to prevent farming.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

jump

Does anyone remember that one of the trailers had a giant who was bigger than the hills casualy walking around, is that actually in the game?

@Haru17 I remember moving a metal door with Magnesis (to cross a river I think), I went back to get a second one, but the first one already disappeared and respawned back at the original site. That was a little disappointing indeed..

@Tsurii I seriously can't find it hah. it's starting to give me Other M pixel hunt flashbacks.

I am also kind of stuck looking for the npc that is supposed to point me towards the 8th heroine in the gerudo citadel.

Bloop.
