The thing that pisses me off the most is that, believing meals were enough, i made like 30+ of them...at this point i hope i will need them someway

Defeated my first Lynel (I had some strong ancient weapons from a previous combat trial). The battle was preceded by a 10-second stare-down.

I am way behind everyone. Too much work and family Life stuff.

I finally took out my first Guardian (I know, I know - cool to me though). Also had fun watching some interactions in the game environment. One was a NPC was traveling by broken down Guardians and it got caught on one and started dragging it with him. It was hilarious to watch. They were both happily going down the road together. I also used my first Amiibo out of curiosity. I was shocked how much stuff you get. I have 11 compatible Amiibos I could use. It must make the game a ton easier. I even have 4 more that are still sealed. If I used all 15 I would have tons of stuff.

Know those labyrinths? One's kind of an island right? They called that one "Irrland" from Eiland (a small island) and Irrgarten (labyrinth)

Irland is the German name for Ireland. This is incredibly painful to me. They just broke the scale on the cringe-o-meter lmao

In Spanish the labyrinths all share the name Lomei.

I can't say I know if it's a pun.

By the way, how is the village in akkala named for you?

In Spanish it's Arkadia. It's nice because it references the naming conventions of the company.

I also see bulls spawn on the beach and sandbanks sometimes. You'd think they'd like a less tropical area with more grass. Maybe they swam there? lol.

At least in Spanish they're identified as water buffalos.

They like being around water.

Yeah, lakes and ponds and stuff, but surely not tropical beaches?

meleebrawler wrote:

@Nicolai Not that weird, it's called a sunshower in our world. Though no clouds is a bit of a stretch, also it continues to rain for a bit when transitioning to sunny weather.

Speaking of nonstop rain in and near Zora's domain, I noticed an odd quirk where reaching the tower seemed to make it stop instantly, even though the forecast called for rain as far as it could see.

Yeah, sometimes it rains when the sun is out, but there's always a cloud.

My first guardian wasn't that long ago. They're pretty easy with some of the equipment you get late in the game, but the first one I killed was near some stone ruins, and I basically ducked in and out of this little hideaway to do it.

@FGPackers Meals are one of the most underrated ways of earning cash, so don't be afraid to just sell them if you don't need them. I've sold a few dishes that I didn't need for over 200 rupees, and many for over 100. In fact, anything that restores a ludicrous number of hearts (but doesn't add any extra) may as well get sold, as it'll always be less effective than a heart increasing alternative. The meals are often worth several times the sum of the of the raw ingredients, so don't feel like selling them is a waste.

Also, I've noticed a trick for climbing in the rain that at least makes it slightly more effective. If you let Link do 4 or 5 standard 'lifts' before doing a jump, he should maintain much more height then if it did all jumps or all lifts. It's not exactly going to have you scaling sheer cliff faces, but it increases the number of things you can get up dramatically.

@Spanjard @Tsurii Yeah I was kind of near Zora Domain or just east of it. Tbh I play in Pro mode all the time so I usually have no idea where I am, I just head towards whatever direction looks most interesting and very occasionally check my map haha.
No wonder, I literally waster like 45 real time waiting around there for it to stop raining so I could climb to freedom! Good to know that it was the area, would be stupid if it rained that much normally.

Back to playing this, taking a break from quests and such, and just exploring, and I must say it's already refreshing, now I do have all the towers and such so it's not completely aimless, just went to a base and I summoned my 20 heart Wolf Link again...he died once again.

also a funny thing happened a few days ago when I last played, I was near a beach, there was a location with many rivers and ponds with chests in them, so here I was just to salvage them all, it was late in the night in the game, I was trying to get a few chests...then a song started to play...it was the dragons song! I looked up and saw nothing....the dragon spawned right below mii and was coming out from the water, Link flew a bit that day.

@Meowpheel I... stand corrected
@Maxz I find so many hearty radishes, hearty sea snails, and hearty truffles, that I hardly have any other kinds of meals anymore. I have so much prime meat on backlog it's not even funny.

40 shrines left to go, and no, not gonna be cheap about it and look online for locations...hopefully not anyways, I just wish I could do some more temples, with so many shrines, you could say it makes up for a few temples at least, but my definition of a temple is a big area that can at least almost take a hour to beat, and then you are rewarded with a boss fight.

But hey! DLC...am I right? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

@Nicolai You and me both... I might just cook it all on Death Mountain and sell it for mega bucks. Or moderate bucks. I can't remember how much cooked prime meat is worth, but probably not as much as the guy who buys gourmet meat for hella dolla. Still I'm sure it's worth something.

Anyway, every day I decide I'm going to push on with the story, and every day I end up distracted and do a million other things while Hyrule apparently edges closer to the apocalypse. I've now done 96 shrines! 96! I can't believe how rapidly they're falling. I spoke to some guy in a stable, and he pointed me in the direction of one, so I got that, then on the way back I found another (and another rare Talus if anyone wants its location!), then noticed Satori Mountain was glowing, did the... thing there, and on the way back from to the original station (aboard a new and special steed), I heard Kass playing his Frenchtastic tunes and unlocked another (though it took me a while to get the threaded rings done). And all the shrines were top notch. I made a small complaint a few pages back about some being too short and one-note, but these were extravagant and amazing. One of them - a windy one - is one of my favourites so far.

In a way it's sad that so many are gone, but I'm also kind of happy that I've unlocked so many before the post-game cleanup where I actually consult Auntie Internet for information. It's been nice being able to uncover so many through serendipity. Which it what the game is really all about.

I just hit the 100 shrine mark, with around 250 Korok seed 'puzzles' under my belt.

I have to say that this game is much more like other open world games than I would wish. The physics, towns, and quests are what's Zelda about it, but even then it's become quite samey without Majora's Mask's mask mechanic (which actually added to Link's ability set more than twice in the entire game).

Breath of the Wild would be, like, twice as good if the dungeons actually rewarded Link with a clawshot, iron boots / Zora scale, Wind's Requiem / Sun's Song, and bombchu rune half-way through, and the world included corresponding challenges which — sans cheesing — couldn't be met any other way. Unfortunately the current team doesn't seem to know how to make a 3D Zelda game, as I felt Skyward Sword also had a lot of staleness to its item usage.

Let's hope the DLC makes good and perhaps updates the map with some underwater areas and enemies, diving, and a water temple of some description. They don't necessarily have to redo much of the physics — the current attack animations + an underwater swimming mechanic will work. How wood floats (and rocks sink) is great, it just needs the part where Link can go underwater himself. Because this is a Zelda game, not some anti-water level trash.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

45hrs mark with 40 Shrines and almost 150 Korok Seeds. Started Death Mountain region with another memory, the 8th (when Link fought A LOT of monsters and it seems like a prediction of Ganon's return). I'm starting to get the lizards to make potions, i have almost 20 now. I started doing Death Mountain exploring all of the boundary of the zone, using a couple of potions. But i bought some since i found really a GREAT number of gems so i have a lot of "richness in store". Now i'm on the way to Goron City, turned off halfway when approaching first lava lakes, and i need to take also a Dinraal Scale for the Shrine in Akkala

I picked up a steel box with magnesis and accidentally dropped it off a cliff. It went rolling off on its own adventure, destroying a wooden crate and knocking a Stalmoblin off its feet, before bouncing out of view. A few seconds later a load of NPC speech bubbles appeared in the distance ("Aaagh!", "Graaagh!" etc). Apparently my steel buddy had found a stable and decided to drop in. When I got down there Beedle was looped in his surprised animation (repeatedly falling on his backside) while an innocent-looking box sat close by; it gave me a chuckle (and a previously undiscovered location).

@FGPackers I haven't used any meals or potions during extreme weather - only clothing and weapons. If you equip a fire weapon it keeps you warm; ice weapons keep you cool. I always make sure to have them in my inventory: combine them with the relevant clothing (weapon or clothing = mild resistance. Weapon and clothing = full resistance) and you can go most places with no problems. If an enemy appears, select another weapon, quickly kill them then change back (or just use your bow/bombs). The weather doesn't immediately affect you so in most cases you'll have enough time for a few hits; for lengthy battles keep swapping out weapons to get the resistance benefit.

I was even able to go to a certain place and defeat a certain thing using this method, which saved me needing a certain armour set (I don't think you've got to that area yet so I won't spoil it for you). However, I haven't been to Death Mountain yet so I'm not sure if it will work there.

I agree but would that work in this game? I'm a little disappointed we are given most of the core abilities at the beginning but love the freedom they provide. Your suggestion worked in other Zeldas due to them being much smaller: specific locations aren't so easy to forget.

Even with BotW's fast travel it could be incredibly annoying trying to hunt down that solitary hookshot target you remembered seeing 15 hours ago on some mountain somewhere. And that's just one location and one item - imagine if there were dozens (or even hundreds). Trying to find all the Korok seeds is bad enough. With a smaller map it would work. I expect it took the Zelda team a while trying to find the balance between freedom and available abilities; their solution isn't perfect but for a game of this size I think it works quite well.

I prefer the runes over some item that will maybe be used in 1-2 parts of the game.

@Monkey_Balls Thank you for your advice but i don't think i will need anymore potions or anything for Death Mountain. And i'm going to tell why in the next spoiler. Since you have not been there i'll recommend not to read it. But, again, thanks a lot buddy! I appreciate it!

Progressed in the exploration and finally when i arrived at Southern Mine i was able to obtain the Chest of the Flamebreaker Set, so i don't need any other potions against heat finally (now what to do with all the lizards and the 2 potions left that i have ahahahahahahhaha)! When i'll arrive in Goron City i'll buy the helm since the NPC told me so, i hope to find there the leg also. And after i have all of it, i'll upgrade it. Destroyed another Guardian in the way, my 4th. In the Southern Mine i also found the Goron for the Akkala Village in rebuild mode and i sent him there. Gonna check it next time i play. By the way i did all of the exploration around Goron City, so i just need to explore the City itself, do all side quests i find there, search at sunset for Dinraal and do the Divine Beast. Then Death Mountain should be done too!

Sorry if i miss some names guys but, as you know, i'm playing the game in Italian and i don't want to risk any spoiler by searching english counterparts

Agreed. Not to mention that you still have a lot of other items. The main difference is just that they have limited uses now. You still got your bow, hammer, boomerang, korok leaf/"gust bellow" (since it's only used to make some wind in BotW), parasail/paraglider, torches as stand-in for candles/lanterns, the elemental rods and some new stuff like the Chu jellies as elemental minibombs or the oktorok balloons as, well, balloons. And then there's of course the "spells", they just work differently than before.

The only classic item that's missing is really the hookshot and that thing would break the exploration aspect of the game in half. And, personally, I think climbing is a lot more fun than the lameass hookshot anyway. I never got the obsession with that one.

I totally agree with @Tsurii here!

About weapons i have to say that i play it like a survival game. I try to use what i can find, always trying to use weapons properly, like using hammers for stones-type of enemies and mineral deposit. I tend to use elemental weapons against opposite. For example to kill all hot enemies in Death Mountain i'm using all cold weapons i have, and stuff like that. I try to manage enemies with what i have

Deku Leaves are a free way to break apart weaker Stal enemies (and has anyone tried picking up heads to punt off cliffs?). Planning out where to explore based what you have or don't have is another cool aspect of the game.

Using boomerangs as throwing weapons isn't easy, though. You need a lot of open space for them to return properly.
