Topic: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

It would be cool if after all the fighters have been released (at the end of Fighters Pass 2 if that is the end or if more come after that then after those), World of Light gets updated to get some new areas which includes the DLC stuff. So like for example a new area where the final battle of the area is the Sephiroth challenge that was available for a limited time back in December.

Also have a final wave of challenges (the batch in vault which is currently at 124 challenges) which has milestones completed once all have been unlocked, obtained all music, etc.

Didn't they say at one point that Sakurai was done with new Smash games? So maybe this will turn into a game-as-service (shudder) from here on out, just adding new fighters and modes until it's just so massive that nobody new would ever want to play it lol

Is Pyra and Mythra releasing today?

I thought it said March 4th release, but they’re not available for me yet.

I've listened to the remix tracks (honestly my main interest when it comes to new fighters) and they... could have been better. The Counterattack remix feels so empty and underdeveloped, and for me is inferior to the original in terms of energy and just general quality; and when looking at a Smash remix, the energy must be high.

Tiger! Tiger! is... an unexpected surprise... not in the best way. It's such an easy song to cover because of the chiptune melodies, and at the same time anything other than what Yuzo Koshiro's perfectly serviceable arrangement wouldn't have worked. This song... for me didn't have to be arranged. It could have been thrown in as the original and it would have at least been amusing.

And the only song worth listening to in my opinion was the one done by the original composers; ACE. The Xenoblade 2 Medley is less rock, more orchestral rock, and the style used really works. At least they didn't literally rip the original songs like in the Xenoblade medley.

Torna battle theme slaps, so does Mor Ardain. Either of those could have been remixed. But that didn't happen, which is a shame.

Why does Nintendo do this?...I wanted Monster Hunter. Even seeing the Felyne outfit pretty much tells me that not even Palico/Prowler is making it in.

Only character left on my list that will also not make it in because my luck hates me...

So like Tockles back in 2019, you can unlock more temporarily exclusive spirits with game save data. Sophia for P5S save data and Arthur for Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection save data.

Given how MH Rise was mentioned in the presentation, I'd guess MH Rise save data will unlock Palamute and/or Magnamalo.

Yeah the MonHun mii costumes......OOF. Easily the most devestating deconfirm for me personally.

I went into the DLC spirits and saw most of the spirits have been cleared already, I thought someone must have played my game before realising they are just reusing old spirits.

Pyra/Mythra are pretty fun to play as, nice and speedy but I can't see myself sticking to them for too long.

So far I honestly might become a Mythra main since I always enjoy the more fast characters.
Pyra is fun as well but just slow (which is kinda the point lol).

I'm getting the hang of Pyra and Mythra as well, looks like they're about to become my new mains! I think I'm more used to Mythra since she's faster. Pyra's got some crazy-powerful special moves though...they're no joke.

I can't believe how much fun I am having with these characters. This is the most fun I've had with a dlc character and the most fun I've had with any of the new characters in this game besides Ridley.

Like, I’m not a big Smash player. I casually enjoy the series and usually put in 30 hours when a new title releases and then move on. But every time I come back to play a new character, I’m surprised by how much fun I have. This game really is a ton of fun!

And Pyra/Mythra might be my new favorite character in the game. They play like a dream. I LOVE the switching mechanic back and forth.

Has this game had any downloadable content that was time-exclusive and can no longer be redownloaded? Like a special costume, for instance? I bought digitally to replace my physical card, but the file won't download. And so now I have to delete the software entirely to get digital to download. I don't want to do it if it means I'll lose something that was time-exclusive. I can just keep using the card instead. Any help would be appreciated!

@Burning_Spear Your save file and game data are different so you should still pick it up from where you left off.

As long as the content is permanent (limited time access to claim is fine, so long as once you have it you have it forever).

What do you need to do is pan right on your home screen and go into your game library screen, then scroll all the way to the bottom where it says re-download from Nintendo E shop, then scroll through your purchased game list and find super smash brothers, and click download. It will then download whatever you don’t currently have downloaded, and all DLC you own.

Although Nintendo has already released its top ten software sales data for the financial year 2020/21, the famous Japanese publication Famitsu has now broken down data further in its latest issue - sharing the best-selling Switch games over the first four years of the system's life in Japan.
It's not all that much different to global sales, with many of the same games featured within the top 10.
Unsurprisingly, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out in front with over six million sales. Notable mentions go to Momotaro Dentetsu and Minecraft breaking into the top ten. Breath of the Wild interestingly comes in at number twelve and further down the list there are games like the Japan-only Yo-kai Watch 4.

First of all, congratulations to Smash for being Japan's second-best selling Switch game.

It seems Nintendo's own DLC fighters come from games (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, ARMS, Xenoblade Chronicles 2) that didn't sell extremely well in their homeland. An epic series like Xenoblade doesn't even appear in Japans Top 35. America and Europe are responsible for most of their sales.

My bets are on Phoenix Wright now whose complete ommission and silence is very suspicious and objectionable, even when Monster Hunter was still in the running. I'm curious about Professor Layton's mysterious absence as well. Phoenix Wright however is one of the last top picks (by votes) from many Smash polls dating back to Smash 4's early days.

Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia) still has a good 25% chance to appear. If he's not a Mii Costume next round his chances rise to 50% in the final round. It's kind of unreal that Bandai Namco (the developer) still has only one of their own characters (Pac-Man) in the game. That said I believe Bandai Namco has the highest chance of any third party to get one of the final 2 spots in the roster. Even if it's not Lloyd they have plenty of other good stuff: SoulCalibur, Tekken, Dark Souls to name a few.

Crash Bandicoot has a slight chance if Sakurai's straight-in-your-face Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time reference isn't just a troll. Though I'm not a fan and rather have Chibi-Robo, Spiderbot Porky, Fulgore and other personal dream wishes instead.
